Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of August 31 – September 2

Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Single Track in Effect This Weekend for Slow Zone Work

A single track will be in effect from Grand to Damen from
8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning
on Friday, August 31, Tuesday, September 4 and Wednesday, September 5. Customers will board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

From 8 p.m. Thursday, September 6 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, a single track will be in effect from Grand to LaSalle. Customers will board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains from Cermak/Chinatown to Fullerton that normally operate through the subway will reroute to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following morning on Tuesday, September 4 through Friday morning, September 7.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from
1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Southbound Red Line service is not affected.

Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Southbound Red Line Service Temporarily Suspended at Jarvis, Morse and Loyola Stations
Southbound Red Line trains will be temporarily unable to stop at the Jarvis, Morse and Loyola stations from 6 a.m. until
4 p.m. on Saturday, September 1
and again from
10 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. the following morning from Tuesday, September 4 until Friday morning, September 7.

Southbound customers who want to exit at Jarvis, Morse or Loyola should board a northbound train at Granville and ride back to these stations. Southbound customers who want to board at these stations should board a northbound train, exit at Howard and board a southbound train.

CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Other Events Affecting Service
Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Belmont

Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Brown Line tracks at Belmont from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays?with the exception of Labor Day?beginning Friday, August 31 until the fall. Customers should board on the Brown Line side of the platform at Belmont.

From 8 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. each following morning?with the exception of Labor Day'southbound Red Line customers will board on the Brown Line side of the platform beginning Friday, August 31 through Thursday, September 6.

CTA Provides Service to Chicago Jazz Fest
All CTA rail lines and several downtown bus routes provide service within walking distance of the Chicago Jazz Festival in Grant Park beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, August 31 until
9:30 p.m. Sunday, September 2.

Performances will take place at the Petrillo Music Shell at Jackson and Columbus; at the Jazz Jackson Stage at Jackson and Lake Shore Drive; and at the Jazz & Heritage Stage near Buckingham Fountain.

Blue Line Single Track in Effect
A single track will be in effect on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line between Harlem and Cumberland from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, September 1. All customers at Harlem must board on the northbound side of the platform.

Buses Reroute for Parade
From 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday, August 31, #8 Halsted and #67 67th/69th/71st buses will undergo reroutes due to the Marcus Garvey International Holiday Parade at 78th and Union.

#8 Halsted buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 79th, Morgan, Marquette, then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses will travel over the regular route to 69th/Normal then will operate via Normal, Marquette, Lafayette then return to 69th and resume the regular route.

Westbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses will travel over the regular route to the 69th Red Line station then will operate via State, Marquette, Normal then return to 69th and resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Lakefront Pavilion Concerts
The #130 Grant Park Treasures is a convenient way for customers to travel to the NEXFEST featuring Aly & AJ, Corbin Bleu, Drake Bell and Blanca Ryan Concert at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island Friday, August 31 and to the Download Festival on Sunday, September 2.

On Friday, the #130 will provide special service departing from the Adler Planetarium for one half hour after the concert.On Sunday, the #130 will operate from Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station, and Jackson Blvd. downtown to the Adler Planetarium every 15 minutes will 7 p.m. and will depart the Adler Planeterium every 15 minutes until 8 p.m. then for one half hour after the concert.

Additional Bus Service Provided for College Football Games
CTA will provide additional service on the #12 Roosevelt, #130 Grant Park Treasures and the #146 bus routes for the Northern Illinois University versus University of Iowa game at Soldier Field on Saturday, September 1.

The game begins at 2 p.m. Buses will operate every few minutes between State and Museum Campus Transit Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. After the game, buses will leave Museum Campus every few minutes for one hour.

From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, CTA will operate longer trains and more frequent service on the Purple Line for the Northeastern Illinois University versus Northwestern University game at Ryan Field. The stadium is located approximately three blocks from the Central station.

Summer Service on Some CTA Bus Routes Ends Monday
Labor Day marks the end of summer service on some CTA bus routes.

Weekday service on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry will end until the holiday season. Weekend service will operate every half hour.

#124 Navy Pier buses will resume operating from the Pier until 10:30 p.m. (instead of midnight) seven nights a week.

With the exception of service to two September concerts, the #130 Grant Park Treasures route will cease operations until next spring. CTA will continue to serve the lakefront daily via #12 Roosevelt buses operating east and west on Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan buses, which stop along Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River and State Street south of the river.

Customers also can walk to the museums from the accessible Red, Green and Orange Line stations at Roosevelt, or transfer to a #12 Roosevelt bus from the stations to complete their trips.

Following Labor Day, service to three beaches will end for the season. Buses on the #63 63rd will resume operating to the regular terminal at 63rd and Stony Island instead of 63rd Street beach.

On the #72 North, buses will resume operating to the regular terminal at North and Clark instead of North Avenue beach.

On the #78 Montrose, buses will resume operating to the regular terminal at Montrose and Marine instead of Montrose Avenue beach.

Howard Street Closed Weeknights Next Week
Howard Street at the Red Line will be closed daily from
7:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 7. #201 Central Ridge buses will be rerouted from Ashland to Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard, Rogers to Howard Terminal, then travel north through the terminal to Howard and resume the regular route.

Clark Closed for Construction
Clark will be closed between Monroe and Adams from 8 p.m. Friday, August 31 until 8 a.m. Saturday, September 1 for construction work. If the weather does not permit the work to take place on Friday night, it will be rescheduled for the same time Saturday night through Sunday morning.

Southbound #22 Clark buses will operate over the regular route to Madison then will operate via Madison, LaSalle, Jackson then return to Clark and resume the regular route.

State Closed for Construction
State Street is closed between Chicago and Pearson until
3 p.m. Friday, August 31. Northbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route to Chicago then operating via Chicago, Dearborn, Oak and returning to State to resume the regular route. Southbound buses are not affected.

Downtown Streets Closed for Filming
Wells will be closed from Washington to Monroe and Madison will be closed from LaSalle to Franklin from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 1 and at the same time on Sunday, September 2.

Northbound #14 Jeffery Express and #56 Milwaukee, and westbound #20 Madison and #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to LaSalle then will operate via LaSalle, Randolph, Wacker then return to Madison and resume the regular route.

Division Closed for Fiesta Boricua
Division will be closed between Western and California from
11 p.m. Saturday, September 1 until midnight Sunday,
September 2.

#70 Division buses will operate in both directions via California, North Avenue, Western then return to Division and resume the regular route.

Lipps Closed for Taste of Polonia Festival
Lipps will be closed between Lawrence and Veterans Drive from Thursday until 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 4.

Westbound #81 Lawrence and #54X Cicero Express buses will operate via Lawrence to Milwaukee to the Jefferson Park terminal.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
The near side bus stop at Pulaski and Chicago that is served by northbound #53 Pulaski buses has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.

#154 Wrigley Field Express Service
The #154 Wrigley Field Express will operate on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2 but will not operate on Monday, September 3 for the Cubs series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field.

Bus customers can travel to the ballpark via the #8 Halsted, #22 Clark and #152 Addison routes. More frequent service will operate on the #X80 Irving Park Express from the Irving Park Blue Line station and the Metra station and also on the #152 Addison route.

Fans also can take the Red Line which provides direct service to Wrigley Field at the accessible station at Addison. Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.

Adams Street Bridge Close
The Adams Street bridge will be closed over the south branch of the Chicago River from 9 p.m. Thursday, August 30 until 5 a.m. Friday, August 31.

Westbound #126 Jackson and #151 Sheridan buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, Van Buren to Canal. The #126 will travel from Canal to Adams and resume the regular route while the #151 will travel from Canal to Jackson and resume the regular route.
