Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of August 29-31

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day, Monday, September 1.

Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks This WeekendService on the Red Line between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Friday, August 29 until 7 p.m. Sunday, August 31.

Bus shuttle service will also be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.

Single Track in Effect for Red Line Trains at North/Clybourn Next Week
From 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, September 2 through Friday morning, September 5,
a single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains operating between the Armitage and Division stations.

Southbound customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line - Slow Zone Work
Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, September 2 through Friday morning, September 5,
a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Addison and Montrose stations.

Northbound customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown Line - Slow Zone Work
Single Track in Effect for Brown Line Trains Beginning This Weekend
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between the Western and Addison stations, from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day on both Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31.

Southbound customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
Southbound Brown Line trains will continue to undergo a single track next week between the Western and Addison stations from 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, September 2 through Friday morning, September 5.

During these times, southbound customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
#22 Clark Bus Stop Relocation
Effective Friday, August 29, the northbound near side stop at Clark and Irving Park, served by #22 Clark buses will be relocated and combined with the far side stop currently served by #9 Ashland buses.

Annual Marcus Garvey Parade Temporarily Reroutes #8 Halsted Buses
On Saturday, August 30, #8 Halsted buses will be temporarily rerouted due to the International Marcus Garvey Parade, which will step off at 9 a.m. The parade route is west on 78th to Halsted, north on Halsted to 71st, east on 71st to Wentworth.

Southbound #8 buses will operate over the regular route along Halsted to 69th then travel via 69th, Racine, 79th to Halsted and resume the regular route. Northbound buses will travel the reverse route.

Greater Canaan Back to School Parade Reroutes #119 Michigan/119th Buses
On Saturday, August 30, #119 Michigan/119th buses will be temporarily rerouted due to the Greater Canaan Back to School parade, which will step off at 9:30 a.m.

Westbound #119 buses will operate over the regular route along 119th Street to State then travel via State, 115th, Halsted to 119th and resume the regular route. Eastbound buses will travel the reverse route.

Buses Temporarily Rerouted on Sunday for the Nike Human Race
From 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, August 31, Museum Campus Drive and Solidarity Drive will be closed for the Nike Human Race. During this time, customers traveling to and from the Museum Campus via the #12 Roosevelt, #130 Grant Park Treasures or #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, must board and exit buses from the front entrance of the Field Museum.

Change in Bus Service to and from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
Effective Sunday, August 31, customers traveling to and from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum must now take the #76 Diversey bus; #77 Belmont buses will no longer serve the museum. Bus operators will make announcements regarding this change in service.

Summer Service on Some CTA Bus Routes Ends Monday
Labor Day marks the end of summer service on some CTA bus routes.

Weekday service on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry will end until the winter holiday season. Weekend service will operate every half hour.

#124 Navy Pier buses will resume operating from the Pier until 10:30 p.m. (instead of midnight) seven nights a week.

#130 Grant Park Treasures route will cease operations until next spring. CTA will continue to serve the lakefront daily via #12 Roosevelt buses operating east and west on Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan buses, which stop along Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River and State Street south of the river.

Customers also can travel to the museums by transferring to a #12 Roosevelt bus from the accessible Red, Green and Orange Line stations at Roosevelt.

Following Labor Day, service to three beaches will end for the season. Buses on the #63 63rd route will resume operating to the regular terminal at 63rd and Stony Island instead of 63rd Street beach.

#72 North buses will resume operating to the regular terminal at North and Clark instead of North Avenue beach.

#78 Montrose buses will resume operating to the regular terminal at Montrose and Marine instead of Montrose Avenue beach.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
Buses Rerouted Due to Harrison Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Until Friday, September 5, the Harrison Street Bridge over the South Branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic due to rehabilitation work.

Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate over the regular route along Harrison to Canal and then travel via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and then resume the regular route.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses operating to Harrison/Des Plaines (10 p.m. and later) will travel along Harrison to Franklin then operate via Franklin, Van Buren, Clinton to Harrison and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses operating from Harrison/Des Plaines will travel over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then operate via Canal, Jackson to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until 4 a.m. Monday, September 8. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

#87 87th Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction. Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work. Northbound #82 Kimball/Homan buses will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and then resume the regular route. Southbound #82 buses will operate the reverse route.

Road Repairs Temporarily Reroute #201 and #206 Buses
Until Monday, September 29, southbound Ridge Avenue between Davis and Main will be closed due to street reconstruction.

Southbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Davis then travel via Davis, Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

For the evening rush period, southbound #206 buses will operate along Dempster to Asbury then travel via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday morning, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday morning, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick. #205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street. Eastbound #75 buses will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and resume the regular route. Westbound #75 buses will operate the reverse route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
Until June 1, 2011, the bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive, served by the #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses, will be relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #10 and #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.

#24 Wentworth Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Sewer Repair Work
Until further notice, #24 Wentworth buses will be temporarily rerouted to adjacent streets due to sewer repair work at the intersection of Vincennes Avenue and 71st Street.

#34 South Michigan Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Construction
Until further notice, 130th Street at Indiana Avenue will be closed due to viaduct and sewer repair work. Southbound #34 South Michigan buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to 115th and then operate via 115th, Bishop Ford Expressway, 130th to Langley and then resume the regular route. Northbound #34 buses will travel the reverse route.

During this time, bus shuttles will operate along Michigan Avenue between 115th and 127th streets.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound near side bus stop located at Grand and State, served by the #29 State, #36 Broadway and #65 Grand buses, will be temporarily relocated to a near side stop at Grand and Dearborn due to construction.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. Westbound #43 43rd buses will operate over the regular route to Halsted and then will travel via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and resume the regular route. Eastbound #43 buses will operate the reverse route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
