Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of August 22-24

Blue Line - Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Service between Jefferson Park and Irving Park Temporarily Suspended this Weekend for Slow Zone Work
Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Irving Park Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, August 22 to 3 a.m. Monday, August 25, in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the Jefferson Park, Montrose and Irving Park stations. In addition, CTA personnel will be available to direct customers to awaiting buses.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Alternate Service for Customers with Disabilities
Because the Montrose and Irving Park stations are not equipped with an elevator, southbound customers who need an elevator to access rail service should board the CTA shuttle bus at Jefferson Park, which will stop at the Montrose and Irving Park stations and then proceed to the accessible Logan Square station.

Northbound customers are advised to exit at the accessible Logan Square station rather than traveling to Irving Park, where they can board a CTA shuttle bus to the accessible Jefferson Park station.

Customers with disabilities also have the option of boarding a #56 Milwaukee bus which operates between these stations.

Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, August 26 through Friday morning, August 29,
a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Addison and Montrose stations.

Northbound customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks This Weekend
Service on the Red Line between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Friday, August 22 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 25. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Bus shuttle service will also be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m., and weekdays from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - Southbound
Southbound Red Line subway trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, August 25 through Thursday morning, August 28. Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th stations.

Northbound service is not affected during these times. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Thursday - Northbound
Northbound service on the Red Line between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will be temporarily rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Thursday, August 28 until 5 a.m. the following morning. Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations and between the Fullerton and Howard stations.

Southbound service is not affected during this time. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown Line - Slow Zone Work
Single Track in Effect for Brown Line Trains Beginning This Weekend
A single track will be in effect for Brown Line trains between the Francisco and Western stations from 3 a.m. Saturday, August 23 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 25.

Southbound customers at the Francisco and Rockwell Brown Line stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

Southbound customers at the Western Brown Line station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week
Brown Line trains will continue to single track next week between the Francisco and Western stations from 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, August 25 through Thursday morning, August 28.

Southbound customers at the Francisco and Rockwell Brown Line stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

Southbound customers at the Western Brown Line station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Single Track in Effect Between the Western and Montrose Brown Line Stations
From 8 p.m. Thursday, August 28 until 4 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect between the Western and Montrose Brown Line stations.

Southbound Brown Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Brown/Red Lines - Other Events Affecting Service
Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Fullerton This Weekend
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Fullerton station from 9 p.m. Friday, August 22 until 11 a.m. the following morning and then again from 9 p.m. Saturday, August 23 until 11 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Southbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Wilson and Sheridan
From 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, August 24,
southbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express tracks due to maintenance work at the Wilson and Sheridan stations. Southbound customers at the Wilson and Sheridan stations must board and exit trains from the Purple Express side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Subway This Weekend
A late night single track will be in effect for Blue Line trains operating between the Grand and LaSalle stations from 9 p.m. Monday, August 25 until 4 a.m. the following morning.

Northbound customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
#24 Wentworth Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Sewer Repair Work
Until further notice, #24 Wentworth buses will be temporarily rerouted to adjacent streets due to sewer repair work at the intersection of Vincennes Avenue and 71st Street.

#52 Kedzie/California Bus Stop Relocation
Effective immediately, the near side bus stop located at California and Fullerton served by southbound #52 Kedzie/California buses will be relocated to a far side stop.

#66 Chicago Buses Rerouted Due to Bridge Repair Work
From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day until Saturday, August 23, the bridge at 622 W. Chicago Avenue will be closed due to repair work. Eastbound #66 buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Halsted then travel via Halsted, Division, Crosby, Larrabee to Chicago and resume the regular route. Westbound #66 buses will travel the reverse route.

#34 South Michigan Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Construction
Until further notice, 130th Street at Indiana Avenue will be closed due to viaduct and sewer repair work. Southbound #34 South Michigan buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to 115th and then operate via 115th, Bishop Ford Expressway, 130th to Langley and then resume the regular route. Northbound #34 buses will travel the reverse route.

During this time, bus shuttles will operate along Michigan Avenue between 115th and 127th streets.

Taste of Greece Festival Reroutes Buses This Weekend
Until 1 a.m. Sunday morning, August 24, Halsted Street will be closed between Monroe and Van Buren due to the annual Taste of Greece Festival. During this time, #8 Halsted and #126 Jackson buses will be temporarily rerouted.

Northbound #8 Halsted buses will operate over the regular route along Halsted to Harrison and then travel via Harrison, Jefferson, Madison to Halsted and resume the regular route. Southbound #8 buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted to Madison then operate via Madison, Des Plaines, Harrison to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will operate over the regular route along Jackson to Morgan then travel via Morgan, Van Buren, Jefferson to Jackson and resume the regular route. Westbound #126 buses will travel the regular route.

#49 Western and #67 67th/69th/71st Buses Rerouted for the Walk for Moral Excellence
On Saturday, August 23, two CTA bus routes will be temporarily rerouted due to the Walk for Moral Excellence which will step off at 10 a.m. and proceed south on Western to 71st and west on 71st to California.

Southbound #49 Western buses will operate over the regular route along Western Avenue to 67th and travel via 67th, Damen, 71st to Western and resume the regular route. Northbound #49 buses will travel the reverse route.

Westbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses will travel over the regular route along 69th Street to Damen then operate via Damen, 67th, Kedzie, 71st to Pulaski and resume the regular route. Eastbound #67 buses will travel the reverse route.

#44 Wallace/Racine Buses Rerouted for the Englewood Back to School Parade
On Saturday, August 23, the Englewood Back to School Parade will step off at 11:30 a.m. and proceed south on Halsted to Marquette, west to Throop and north into Ogden Park.

Southbound #44 Wallace/Racine buses will operate over the regular route along Racine to 63rd and then travel via 63rd, Loomis, 69th to Racine and resume the regular route. Northbound #44 buses will travel the reverse route.

#36 Broadway Buses Temporarily Rerouted This Weekend
The intersection of State and Delaware will be temporarily closed due to water main repair work on Saturday, August 23 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and then again on Sunday, August 24 from 7 a.m. to noon.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Chicago and then travel via Chicago to State and resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will travel the regular route along State to Chicago then operate via Chicago, Dearborn, Elm to Clark and resume the regular route.

Sewer Repair Work Temporarily Reroutes #52 and #52A Buses
Effective 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 27 until further notice, Kedzie Avenue at 53rd Place will be closed due to sewer repair work. Southbound #52 Kedzie/California and #52A South Kedzie buses will travel over the regular route along Kedzie to 51st and then operate via 51st, California, 55th to Kedzie and resume the regular route. Northbound service is not affected.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
#22 Clark Buses Rerouted Due to Street Repairs
Until midnight Friday evening, August 22, Clark Street will be closed between Morse and Greenleaf due to street repairs. Northbound #22 Clark buses will travel over the regular route along Clark to Morse then travel via Morse, Ashland, Greenleaf to Clark and resume the regular route. Southbound #22 buses will travel the reverse route.

#53 Pulaski Buses Rerouted
#53 Pulaski buses will be temporarily rerouted until Friday, August 29, due to sewer repair work. During this time, southbound #53 buses will operate over the regular route along Pulaski to 26th and then will travel via 26th, Central Park, 31st to Pulaski and resume the regular route. Northbound #53 buses will operate the reverse route.

Buses Rerouted Due to Harrison Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Until Friday, September 5, the Harrison Street Bridge over the South Branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic due to rehabilitation work.

Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate over the regular route along Harrison to Canal and then travel via Canal, Jackson to Franklin then resume the regular route.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses operating to Harrison/Des Plaines (10 p.m. and later) will travel along Harrison to Franklin then operate via Franklin, Van Buren, Clinton to Harrison and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses operating from Harrison/Des Plaines will travel over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then operate via Canal, Jackson to Dearborn and resume the regular route.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until 4 a.m. Monday, September 8. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

#87 87th Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction. Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work. Northbound #82 Kimball/Homan buses will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and resume the regular route. Southbound #82 buses will operate the reverse route.

Road Repairs Temporarily Reroute #201 and #206 Buses
Until Monday, September 29, southbound Ridge Avenue between Davis and Main will be closed due to street reconstruction.

Southbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Davis then travel via Davis, Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

For the evening rush period, southbound #206 buses will operate along Dempster to Asbury then travel via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday morning, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick. #205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street. Eastbound #75 buses will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and resume the regular route. Westbound #75 buses will operate the reverse route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
Until June 1, 2011, the bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive, served by the #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses, will be relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #10 and #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.

Buses Rerouted Due to Water Main Repairs
Until further notice, #6 Jackson Park Express and #79 79th buses will be temporarily rerouted as 79th Street is closed between South Shore Drive and Brandon Avenue.

Southbound #6 buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 83rd Street and will then travel via 83rd, Exchange, 79th to Coles for end of route and northbound buses will resume the regular route.

Eastbound #79 buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Cheltenham then operate via Cheltenham, Coles, 76th, South Shore to 79th for end of route and westbound will resume the regular route.

Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction. Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound near side bus stop located at Grand and State, served by the #29 State, #36 Broadway and #65 Grand buses, will be temporarily relocated to a near side stop at Grand and Dearborn due to construction.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. Westbound #43 43rd buses will operate the regular route to Halsted and then will travel via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and resume the regular route. Eastbound #43 buses will operate the reverse route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
