Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks Next Week
Northbound service on the Red Line between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will be temporarily rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 19 until 5 a.m. the following morning and then again from 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 20 until 5 a.m. the following morning. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations and between the Fullerton and Howard stations.
Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on weekdays from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Southbound - Thursday Night
Southbound Red Line subway trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Thursday, August 21 until 5 a.m. the following morning. Northbound service is not affected during these times.
Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th stations.
Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown: Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays.

From 11 p.m. Monday, August 18 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line subway trains.
Southbound customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, August 19 through Friday morning, August 22, a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Montrose and Addison stations.
Northbound customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Single Track in Effect on Brown Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between the Addison and Western stations from 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, August 18 to Friday morning, August 22.
Northbound customers at the Montrose Brown Line station must board and exit trains from the southbound platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

From 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, August 17, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks due to maintenance work. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of each platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Brown/Red Lines - Other Events Affecting Service
Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont This Weekend
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Belmont station from 10 p.m. Friday, August 15 until 7 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10 p.m. Saturday, August 16 until 7 a.m. the following morning.
Southbound customers at Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.
During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

From 9 p.m. Thursday, August 21 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Fullerton station. Southbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.
During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Late Night Single Track in Effect on Forest Park Branch of Blue Line
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Racine and Western stations from 9 p.m. Monday, August 18 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
Southbound customers at the Racine and Medical District stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Green Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Sunday Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line
From 10 p.m. Sunday, August 17 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Austin Green Line stations while crews conduct track maintenance and repair work.
Southbound customers at the Oak Park, Ridgeland and Austin stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Additional Bus/Rail Service for Events
CTA Provides Extra Service for Air & Water Show This Weekend
The CTA is a convenient travel option for spectators heading to the Chicago Air & Water Show Friday, August 15 through Sunday, August 17, along the lakefront from Oak Street Beach to Fullerton.
Additional buses will be in service beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday on the #72 North and #151 Sheridan routes, which operate close to all the activities. To avoid traffic congestion, #72 buses will only travel as far as North and Clark instead of continuing east to North Avenue Beach.
Buses on the #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and #147 Outer Drive Express routes operate to Michigan and Delaware, within walking distance of Oak Street Beach. Customers also can take the #22 Clark or #36 Broadway routes to North and Clark, within walking distance of North Avenue Beach.
Customers may take the Blue, Pink, Brown, Orange and Green Lines to downtown and transfer to Red Line trains in the State Street subway. Customers also can reach the Air & Water Show by transferring from the Blue Line at Damen, the Red Line at North/Clybourn or the Brown Line at Sedgwick to board additional #72 buses that will supplement regular service along North Avenue from California to Clark. Capacity will be added to Blue and Brown Line trains throughout the weekend.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
Block 37 Construction Work Temporarily Reroutes 14 Routes This Weekend
From 9 p.m. Friday, August 15 until 6 a.m. Monday, August 18, State Street will be closed between Madison and Randolph, and Washington Street will be closed between Dearborn and Wabash due to construction work at Block #37.
Fourteen CTA bus routes will be rerouted to adjacent streets. Rerouting these bus routes away from construction activity will improve the reliability of CTA bus service in the area and create a more predictable flow of traffic for the duration of this phase of the project. The routes subject to temporary reroutes are:

Late Night Reroute of #77 Belmont Buses on Wednesday
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Belmont Avenue at the Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic on the following dates and times:
- 10 p.m. Friday, August 15 until 7 a.m. Saturday, August 16
- 10 p.m. Saturday, August 16 until 7 a.m. Sunday, August 17
- 9 p.m. Sunday, August 17 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 18
- 8 p.m. Monday, August 18 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 19
During these times, #77 Belmont buses operating in both directions will travel along Belmont to Sheffield and then will operate via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted to Belmont and then resume the regular route.
Danny K. Davis Back to School Parade Reroutes Buses
Seven CTA bus routes will reroute for the Danny K. Davis Back to School Parade from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 16.
Westbound #20 Madison buses will operate along Madison to Laramie then travel via Laramie, Washington, Austin then resume the regular route. Eastbound #20 buses will operate the reverse route.
Southbound #57 Laramie buses will operate along Laramie to Washington and then travel via Washington, Cicero, Jackson then return to Laramie and resume the regular route. Northbound #57 buses will operate the reverse route.
Westbound #66 Chicago buses and #70 Division buses will operate via Cicero, Augusta, Laramie with the #66 returning to Chicago to resume the regular route and the #70 returning to Division and resume the regular route.
Westbound #72 North Avenue buses will operate along North Avenue to Laramie then travel via Laramie, Grand, Austin then return to North Avenue and resume the regular route. Eastbound #72 buses will operate the reverse route.
Southbound #85 Central buses will travel along Central to Grand then operate via Grand, Laramie, Harrison to the Central/Harrison terminal for end of route. Northbound #85 buses will operate the reverse route.
Westbound #126 Jackson buses will operate along Jackson to Laramie then travel via Laramie, Harrison to the Central/Harrison terminal for end of route. Eastbound #126 buses will leave from the Central/Harrison terminal and travel along Harrison to Laramie and then operate via Laramie to Jackson and then resume the regular route.
Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Adams and Clark
Due to construction, the westbound near side bus stop located at Adams and Clark will be temporarily relocated to a far side stop. Buses serving this location are the #1 Indiana/Hyde Park, #7 Harrison, #X28 Stony Island Express, #126 Jackson, #129 Madison/Roosevelt Circulator, #130 Grant Park Treasures and #151 Sheridan.
Road Repairs Temporarily Reroute #201 and #206 Buses
Until Monday, September 29, southbound Ridge Avenue between Davis and Main will be closed due to street reconstruction.
Southbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Davis then travel via Davis, Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.
For the evening rush period, southbound #206 buses will operate along Dempster to Asbury then travel via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.
Jackson Closed for Taste of Austin
Jackson will be closed between Central (5600 West) and Austin (6000 West) for the Taste of Austin festivities from 10 a.m. Friday, August 15 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 18. Westbound #126 Jackson buses will operate along Jackson to Central then operate via Central, Madison, Austin then return to Jackson and resume the regular route. Eastbound #126 buses will operate the reverse route.
#155 Devon Buses Temporarily Rerouted This Weekend for Parades
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 16, Devon Avenue will be closed between California and Western for the annual India Independence Parade. Eastbound #155 Devon buses will operate along Devon to Kedzie then travel via Kedzie, Lincoln, Peterson, Western to Devon and then resume the regular route. Westbound #155 buses will operate the reverse route. On Sunday, August 17 from noon until 3:30 p.m., Devon Avenue will be closed between Damen and Western for the Pakistan Independence Parade. Eastbound #155 Devon buses will travel along Devon to California and then operate via California, Lunt, Ridge to Devon and then resume the regular route. Westbound #155 buses will operate the reverse route.
Ongoing Bus Reroutes
#201 Central/Ridge Buses Temporarily Rerouted Until Mid-August
Due to construction along Sherman Road, northbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will be temporarily rerouted until Tuesday morning, August 19. Northbound #201 buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Maple and then travel via Maple, Emerson to Ridge and then resume the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.
#53 Pulaski Buses Rerouted
#53 Pulaski buses will be temporarily rerouted until Friday, August 29, due to sewer repair work. During this time, southbound #53 buses will operate over the regular route along Pulaski to 26th and then will travel via 26th, Central Park, 31st to Pulaski and resume the regular route. Northbound #53 buses will operate the reverse route.
Buses Rerouted Due to Harrison Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Until Friday, September 5, the Harrison Street Bridge over the South Branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic due to rehabilitation work.
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate over the regular route along Harrison to Canal and then travel via Canal, Jackson to Franklin then resume the regular route.
Southbound #36 Broadway buses operating to Harrison/DesPlaines (10 p.m. and later) will travel along Harrison to Franklin then operate via Franklin, Van Buren, Clinton to Harrison and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses operating from Harrison/Desplaines will travel over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then operate via Canal, Jackson to Dearborn and resume the regular route.
Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until 4 a.m. Monday, September 8. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.
#87 87th Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction. Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.
#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work. Northbound #82 Kimball/Homan buses will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and resume the regular route. Southbound #82 buses will operate the reverse route.
Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.
During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.
Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.
In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday morning, November 1.
Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.
Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick. #205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.
Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street. Eastbound #75 buses will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and resume the regular route. Westbound #75 buses will operate the reverse route.
Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.
Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.
Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.
Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.
Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
Until June 1, 2011, the bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive, served by the #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses, will be relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #10 and #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
Buses Rerouted Due to Water Main Repairs
Until further notice, #6 Jackson Park Express and #79 79th buses will be temporarily rerouted as 79th Street is closed between South Shore Drive and Brandon Avenue.
Southbound #6 buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 83rd Street and will then travel via 83rd, Exchange, 79th to Coles for end of route and northbound buses will resume the regular route.
Eastbound #79 buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Cheltenham and then operate via Cheltenham, Coles, 76th, South Shore to 79th for end of route and westbound will resume the regular route.
Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction. Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.
Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.
Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.
Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.
Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.
Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.
Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.
Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.
Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. Westbound #43 43rd buses will operate the regular route to Halsted and then will travel via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and resume the regular route. Eastbound #43 buses will operate the reverse route.
#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
