Slow Zone Work
Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks

While work is under way to eliminate slow zones, both north and southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will reroute to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Friday, April 4 until 3 a.m. Monday, April 7. Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m. and Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to7:10 a.m.

Bus shuttle service will operate between the Clark/Division station and North/Clybourn station, stopping at the Sedgwick Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.

Bus shuttle service also will operate from the Grand/State and Chicago/State stations to the Chicago/Franklin Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.

Additional bus shuttle service will operate between Jackson/State, Harrison/State, Jackson/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash where customers may board Red Line trains.

Next Week
Southbound Red Line trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, April 7 through Friday morning, April 11.

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th stations.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Weekend Blue Line Service from Jefferson Park to Cumberland Temporarily Suspended
Work to eliminate slow zones on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line resumes this weekend.

Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Cumberland Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, April 4 to 3 a.m. Monday, April 7, in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the Jefferson Park, Harlem and Cumberland stations. Extra travel time is advisable.

Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Fullerton
From 6 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 7,
southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to the northbound Red Line tracks at Fullerton while crews conduct slow zone elimination work.

Southbound Red and Brown Line customers at Fullerton will board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red Line customers must board and exit trains where northbound Brown Line trains stop.During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers who wish to exit at Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey who wish to travel southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, April 7 through Friday morning,
April 11,
southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to the northbound Red Line tracks at Belmont and Fullerton stations while crews conduct slow zone work.

During this time, southbound Red and Brown Line customers at Belmont and Fullerton must board and exit trains on the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red Line customers must board and exit trains where northbound Brown Line trains stop.

During the same hours, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers who wish to exit at Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey who wish to travel southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Northbound and Southbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express tracks from 7 a.m. until
3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5 and during the same hours on Sunday, April 6.

During these times, customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, April 8 through Friday, April 11, north and southbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express tracks.

Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line's O'Hare Branch Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday, April 8 through Friday morning,
April 11,
a single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Cumberland stations on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line.

Northbound customers at the Harlem station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of Blue Line

A single track will be in effect between the Grand and Damen stations on the Blue Line from 11 p.m. Friday, April 4 until
4 a.m. Saturday, April 5.

Southbound customers at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Sunday
A single track will be in effect between the Damen and Grand stations from 10 p.m. Saturday, April 5 until 6 a.m. Sunday, April 7.

Northbound customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

Howard Station Construction
The northbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 8 p.m. Friday, April 4 until 2 a.m. Monday, April 7. Customers must board trains from the southbound platform.

South Entrances to Grand Red Line Station Temporarily Closed
The southeast and southwest entrances to the Grand Red Line station have been temporarily closed due to the reconstruction of the Grand station mezzanine and platform.

Customers can access the station from the northeast and northwest entrances.

Single Track in Effect on Brown Line
A single track will be in effect between the Western and Kedzie stations on the Brown Line from 9 p.m. each day until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday, April 6 through Wednesday morning, April 9.

Northbound customers at the Rockwell and Francisco stations must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Brown Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between the Francisco and Kimball stations on the Brown Line from 9 p.m. each day until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Wednesday,
April 9 through Friday morning, April 11.

Northbound customers at the Kedzie station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

Daytime Single Track in Effect on Green Line
A single track will be in effect between the Ashland and Halsted stations on the Green Line from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5.

Northbound customers at the Halsted station must board and exit trains on the southbound platform.

#19 United Center Express Serves Bulls and Blackhawks Games
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:

  • Friday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. " Blackhawks versus Nashville Predators
  • Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Washington Wizards
  • Friday, April 11 at 6 p.m. " Bulls versus Cleveland Cavaliers

Buses will leave every 12 minutes from Michigan and Superior starting two hours before game time until 30 minutes before the game begins. When the game ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.

#19 buses will make all stops on Michigan from Superior to Washington, and on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.

After the game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses operate through downtown east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making all stops from Randolph to Chicago.

CTA Provides Service for Baseball Fans Traveling to U.S. Cellular Field
Traveling on CTA is a convenient option for baseball fans attending games at U.S. Cellular Field. The Chicago White Sox face the Minnesota Twins in their home opener on Monday, April 7 at 3:05 p.m. and CTA provides several travel options for fans of the South Side ballclub.

The Red Line provides direct service to the accessible Sox-35th station, just steps away from the ballpark. Red Line trains operate between Howard and 95th Street. Free connections can be made from Purple and Yellow Line trains at Howard, from all elevated lines serving the Loop or from Brown Line trains at Belmont and Fullerton.

The Green Line also provides a convenient travel option to U.S. Cellular Field. The accessible Green Line station at 35th-Bronzeville-IIT is a few blocks east of the park. Fans can walk to the ballpark or transfer to #35 35th buses, which stop at the park.

U.S. Cellular Field is also served by #35 35th buses that stop at 35th Street stations on the Green, Orange and Red Lines. On weekdays through early evening, #24 Wentworth buses serve the stadium from Clark Street downtown, and from 79th via Vincennes, Wentworth and LaSalle. #29 State buses that operate on State Street between the Red Line terminal at 95th Street and Navy Pier provide another nearby travel option.

Buses Reroute at Brown Line Stations
#77 Belmont buses will be rerouted from 9 p.m. each day until 5 a.m. the following morning on Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11.

#77 buses will operate in both directions via Belmont, Sheffield, Addison, Halsted then return to Belmont and resume the regular route.

Buses Undergo Reroute on State Street
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand and State Street due to construction on the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Kinzie then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn, Ohio then return to State and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From 9 p.m. each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to Washington then will operate via State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

In addition, Dearborn is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over their regular routes and then will operate via Monroe, State, Wacker then return to Dearborn and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

During the same hours, Washington will be closed between State and Dearborn. The reroutes on the #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer will be in effect.

Downtown Bridge Lift Reroutes Buses
The Harrison Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day on Friday, April 4, Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8.

Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate via Harrison, Canal, Jackson and then return to Franklin and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m until 8:30 a.m. and again at4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice due to construction.

#43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets.

Southbound #22 buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Polk, State to Roosevelt for the end of the route. Northbound buses will leave from Roosevelt to Clark, Polk and then resume the regular route.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to State to Roosevelt for the end of the route. Northbound will leave from Roosevelt, traveling via Roosevelt to Clark, Polk, Dearborn, Harrison to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Halsted Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
Halsted between Jackson and Van Buren will be closed due to emergency street repairs through Monday, April 14.

Northbound #8 Halsted buses will travel over the regular route to Van Buren then will operate via Van Buren, Morgan, Jackson then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Jackson then will operate via Jackson, Desplaines, Van Buren then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Buses Rerouted Due To Construction Through May 10
Westbound #170 University of Chicago/Midway and #192 University of Chicago Hospitals Express buses continue to be rerouted until May 10 due to construction on 59th Street at Drexel.

#170 buses will travel over the regular route to Ellis then will operate via Ellis, Midway Plaisance, Drexel to Cottage Grove and then resume the regular route.

#192 University of Chicago Hospitals Express buses will travel over the regular route to Ellis then will operate via Ellis, Midway Plaisance, Drexel, Midway Plaisance then return to Cottage Grove and resume the regular route.

A temporary stop has been placed on Drexel to accommodate the service.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until
5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

Division Reroute Continues
Westbound #70 Division buses continue to undergo reroutes due to street repairs at Division and Kolmar.

Buses will travel over the regular route to Kostner then will operate via Kostner, Augusta, Cicero then return to Division and resume the regular route.
