Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of April 27 – 29

Red Line Subway Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Over Weekend
Service on the Red Line from the North/Clybourn station to Roosevelt will be temporarily suspended in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday, April 27 until 1 a.m. Monday, April 30 due to planned construction and maintenance work. North and southbound Red Line trains will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks throughout the weekend. Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak-Chinatown stations. Rerouted Red Line trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Roosevelt/Wabash and Fullerton: Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 5:10 a.m. and on Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.

Red Line trains will resume normal service through the subway at 1 a.m. Monday, April 30.

In addition to running Red Line trains on the elevated tracks, CTA will operate three bus shuttles to help customers make their normal connections. All shuttle service will connect to elevated stations where customers will be able to board northbound and southbound Red Line trains.

Historic Brown Line Belmont Stationhouse Relocated Sunday
Belmont Avenue will be closed early Sunday morning while the CTA relocates the existing historic stationhouse from the south side of Belmont to the north side. The work is expected to take place between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m.

While work to move the stationhouse is underway, trains will operate on the two westernmost tracks only. All southbound trains will operate on the southbound Brown Line tracks at the Belmont station. Southbound customers will board on the west (or Brown Line) side of the southbound platform.

All northbound trains will operate on the southbound Red Line tracks at Belmont station. Northbound customers will board trains on the east (or Red Line) side of the southbound platform.

CTA's #77 Belmont bus will be temporarily rerouted in both directions via Belmont, Sheffield, Addison and Halsted, then back to Belmont to resume the regular route.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch Friday
A single track will be in effect between the UIC-Halsted and Western stations from 11 p.m. Friday, April 27 until 7 a.m. Saturday, April 28 and again in the same location, during the same hours Saturday night. All customers at the Racine and Illinois Medical District stations must board on the northbound side of platform.

Columbus Drive Closes for March of Dimes WalkAmerica Sunday
Columbus Drive will be closed between Roosevelt and Balbo for the March of Dimes walk Sunday, April 29. The parade will assemble at Roosevelt at 6 a.m. The walk will reroute 14 CTA bus routes and may cause service delays.

Buses on the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes will be affected by the walk. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Blue Island Avenue Closes for Day of the Child Parade Sunday
Beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 29, Blue Island Avenue will be closed between 16th and 18th streets. The parade will step off at noon proceeding on 18th Street to Damen to Harrison Park. #9 Ashland buses will operate in both directions via Ashland, Cermak, Racine, Roosevelt to Ashland, then resume the regular route.

#18 16th/18th buses will operate in both directions via 18th, Damen, Cermak, Racine to 18th, then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Racine, 14th to Racine, then resume the regular route.

Blue Line Jackson/Van Buren Exit/Entrance Reopens Monday, April 30
The Jackson/Van Buren (accessible) subway station mezzanine will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, April 30 as a newly renovated exit and entrance.

Street Closures Through Next Week
Howard Street will be closed westbound between Paulina and Clark from 7 p.m. Friday, May 4 until 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, for track work at the Howard station. Westbound #201 Central/Ridge and #N201 Central/Ridge night buses will operate via Ashland, Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard and Rogers through the terminal to Howard.

103rd Street will be closed at the railroad crossing at Rockwell weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4. #103W West 103rd buses will operate in both directions via 103rd, Western, 99th and California.

Late Night Single Track in Effect in Red Line Subway Next Week
A single track will be in effect between the Roosevelt and Lake stations from 11 p.m. Monday, April 30 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, May 1, May 2 and May 3. All customers at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake stations must board on the southbound side of the platform.
