Montrose Blue Line station closure; CTA to provide extra service to Soldier Field

The Chicago Transit Authority is notifying customers of temporary changes to service, including Montrose Blue Line station impacts as part of Your New Blue work and additional service to upcoming events at Soldier Field.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Temporary weekend closure of Montrose Blue Line station

The Montrose Blue Line station will be temporarily closed beginning Friday, June 3 at 10 p.m. until Monday, June 6 at 4 a.m. During this time, Blue Line trains traveling in both directions will bypass the Montrose station.

Free shuttle bus service will be provided between the Montrose and Irving Park Blue Line stations throughout the temporarily closure. O’Hare- and Forest Park-bound customers at Montrose can access Blue Line trains by taking the free shuttle buses to the Irving Park station. Blue Line customers traveling to the Montrose station will need to exit at Irving Park and then transfer to the free bus shuttle.

Early Monday morning, prior to the start of the morning rush period, O’Hare-bound trains will resume making stops at the Montrose station. Forest Park-bound trains will continue to bypass the station.

Tuesday Night: Normal operations resume at Montrose Blue Line station

On Tuesday, June 7 at approximately 9 p.m. normal operations will resume at the Montrose station with trains stopping in both directions following the substantial completion of planned work at the station.

In December 2013, the CTA and Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Your New Blue, the largest service improvement project on the Blue Line since it was extended to O’Hare Airport in 1984. For more information on the Your New Blue project, please visit: http://www.transitchicago.com/yournewblue/.
