Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of September 8 - 10

Single Track in Effect on Orange Line Thursday Night
A single track will be in effect between the Midway and Pulaski stations from 9 p.m. Thursday, September 7 until 4 a.m. Friday, September 8. North and southbound customers boarding at the Pulaski station must board on the east side of the platform. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between 45th and Garfield from 11 p.m. Friday, September 8 until 8 a.m. Saturday, September 9. North and southbound customers boarding at the 47th station must board on the east side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between 33rd and Garfield from 11 p.m. Saturday, September 9 until 8 a.m. Sunday, September 10. North and southbound customers boarding at the Sox-35th and 47th stations must board on the west side of the platform.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 45th and Garfield from 11 p.m. Monday, September 11 until 4 a.m. Tuesday and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday, September 12, Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday, September 14. On Monday and Tuesday nights, north and southbound customers boarding at the 47th station must board on the west side of the platform. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, north and southbound customers boarding at the 47th station must board on the east side of the platform.

Clark Junction Track and Signal Renewal:
CTA is currently working to upgrade crossover tracks and signals throughout the Clark Junction corridor, the busy location where Brown, Red and Purple Line trains converge just north of Belmont on the city's North Side.

The upgrade to the 100-year-old junction will bring new signals and additional connections between tracks to allow trains to cross over to adjacent tracks.

Red and Brown Line Customers Should Allow Extra Travel Time This Weekend
Construction work planned for this weekend will require reroutes of north and southbound Red and Brown Line trains. This could cause delays in service so customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

1 a.m. Saturday, September 9 to 2 a.m. Sunday, September 10

Red Line Service
At Belmont, northbound Red Line trains will operate on the track normally used by northbound Brown Line trains. Customers will board northbound Red Line trains on the same side of the platform (east) as northbound Brown Line customers.

From Belmont, northbound Red Line trains will continue north on Brown Line tracks where they will cross back to normal Red Line service just north of Addison station and pull back to the Addison station to serve customers.

Brown Line Service
At Belmont, northbound Brown Line trains will share the track with southbound Brown Line trains. Northbound Brown Line customers will board trains at the same location (far west platform) as southbound Brown Line customers.

Northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at the Wellington and Diversey station platforms during these hours. Customers who wish to exit at these stations will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to a southbound Brown Line train to travel back to these stations.

Southbound Red and Brown Line service is not affected.

2 a.m. Sunday, September 10 to 4 a.m., Monday, September 11

Red Line Service
At Belmont, southbound Red Line trains will share the track with southbound Brown Line trains. Customers will board southbound Red Line trains on the same side of the platform (west) as southbound Brown Line customers.

Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Brown Line service is not affected.

Normal Red and Brown Line service will resume at 4 a.m. Monday, September 11.

Lincoln and Leland Closed for German-American Festival through Monday
Leland is closed between Lincoln and Western until noon Monday, September 11. #11 Lincoln buses will operate in both directions via Leland, Western, Montrose and Lincoln, then resume the regular route.

#49B North Western buses will not use the terminal at the Brown Line Western station due to the street closures. Buses will stop in front of the station on Western and will continue to operate via Western, Montrose, Lincoln, Wilson and Western, then resume the regular route.

Columbus Closes for Mexican Independence Day Parade Saturday
Columbus will be closed between Balbo and Monroe from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9. Buses on the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes that ordinarily operate on Columbus and Balbo will operate via Michigan and Roosevelt during the parade.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

26th Street Closed for Mexican Independence Day Parade and 5K Race Sunday
26th Street will be closed between California and Kostner from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10. The 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. and the parade will step off at noon.

#52 Kedzie/California buses will operate in both directions via Kedzie, 31st, California, Cermak, back to Kedzie, then resume the regular route.

#53 Pulaski buses will operate in both directions via 31st, Kostner, Ogden and Pulaski, then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate in both directions via 26th, California, Cermak, Ogden and 26th, then resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan buses will operate in both directions via 31st, Kostner, Ogden, Cermak and Central Park, then resume the regular route.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Additional Service Provided to Lakefront Pavilion for Concert Friday
The #130 Grant Park Treasures will provide service for customers after the Styx and Foreigner concert at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island Friday, September 8. The concert begins at 7 p.m. #130 buses will operate every few minutes after the concert ends for 30 minutes.

The #130 route operates in both directions between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to the Museum Campus following Northerly Island concerts and also in the summer on weekends and holidays through Labor Day.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line O'Hare Branch for Maintenance Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Cumberland and Harlem stations from 11 p.m. Friday, September 8 until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 9 and again in the same location, during the same hours Saturday night. North and southbound customers boarding at the Harlem station must board on the north side of the platform.

Clark Closed for Sewer Work Through Friday
Clark is closed at Arthur for sewer work until 4 p.m. Friday, September 8. #22 Clark buses are operating in both directions via Clark, Devon, Sheridan, Pratt and Clark, then resume the regular route.

State Closes for Barrier Removal Friday, Saturday and Monday
State will be closed between 76th and 79th for construction barrier removal from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 8; 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 9; and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, September 11.

Northbound #29 State buses will be rerouted via State to 79th, Vincennes, 75th, back to State, then resume the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

#75 74th/75th buses will operate in both directions via Lafayette, 79th, Red Line station, King Drive and 75th, then resume the regular route.

Michigan Bridge Closes over Bishop Ford Freeway Through April 1, 2007
Beginning at 5 a.m., Monday, September 11, the Michigan bridge over the Bishop Ford Freeway will be closed for reconstruction at 99th. Northbound #34 South Michigan, #103 West 103rd, #106 East 103rd and #119 Michigan/119th buses will be rerouted via Michigan to 100th, King, 99th, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route.

Southbound buses will operate via Michigan to 99th, King, 100th, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route.
