EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER 3 – 5

Note: All CTA buses and trains will operate on a Sunday schedule Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Tuesday though Next ThursdayDue to the Labor Day holiday, there will be no single track service in effect on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line this weekend.

When work on the Red Line resumes Tuesday, single track service will be in effect southbound between 55th and 63rd Streets from 11 p.m. Tuesday, September 7 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, September 8.

Single track service also will be in effect northbound between 95th and 87th Streets from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday night September 8 and Thursday night, September 9.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, CTA trains are using by-pass tracks between 92nd and 96th Streets until early October.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal stations.

Additional Service Provided for Soccer Double-Header at Soldier Field Saturday Night Additional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus routes serving Soldier Field for a double-header soccer game Saturday. The first game between the Chicago Fire and D.C. United begins at 7 p.m. The second game between Mexican teams Club America and Pachuca will begin at 9:30 p.m. Additional service will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until one hour after the games end or as crowds warrant.

Montrose Closes for Central American Day Parade SundayThe intersection of Kimball/Montrose, and Montrose between California and Kimball will be closed from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday for the Central American Day Parade. #78 Montrose buses will operate in both directions via Montrose, Pulaski, Irving Park, Western, back to Montrose, then resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan buses will operate in both directions via Kimball, Lawrence, Pulaski, Irving Park, back to Kimball, then resume the regular route.

18th Street Closes for Mexican Independence Day Parade Sunday18th Street will be closed between Newberry and Damen from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday for a Mexican Independence Day Parade. #18 16th/18th buses will operate in both directions via 18th, Halsted, Cermak, Damen, back to 18th, then resume the regular route.

The Chinatown/Pilsen Shuttle will operate in both directions via Cermak, Canal, back to Damen, then resume the regular route.

47th Street Closes for Mexican Independence Day Parade Sunday47th Street will be closed between Ashland and Damen from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday for a Mexican Independence Day Parade. #47 47th buses will operate in both directions via 47th, Damen, 51st, Ashland, back to 47th, then resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Navy Pier Fireworks Sunday NightAdditional buses will operate on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier bus routes for spectators attending the fireworks display at Navy Pier at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The last #124 bus leaves the pier at midnight. The last #29 and #66 buses leave the pier at 12:20 a.m.

#154 Wrigley Field Express Service Will Not Operate for Cubs Game on MondayThere will be no service on the #154 Wrigley Field Express between DeVry University and Wrigley Field for Monday's game between the Cubs and Montreal Expos at 3:05 p.m. The usual additional game service will be provided on the #22 Clark and #152 Addison bus routes and on the Red Line.

Summer Service on Some CTA Bus Routes Ends MondayLabor Day marks the end of summer service on some CTA bus routes. Summer weekday service on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry route will return to operating on weekends and holidays only (except Christmas Day) and on weekdays from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.

The Chinatown/Pilsen Shuttle, which is a summer only route, also will end its season on Labor Day.

The #130 Grant Park Treasures route will suspend operations until next spring.

The lakefront museums will continue to be served daily by #12 Roosevelt buses, operating east and west on Roosevelt and by #146 Inner Drive/ Michigan buses, which stop along Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River and serve State Street south of the river. Customers also can walk to the museums from the accessible Red, Green and Orange Line 'L' stations at Roosevelt or transfer to a #12 Roosevelt bus to complete their trips.

Additionally, service to three beaches will end on Monday. Buses on the #63 63rd route will travel as far as 63rd/Stony Island, instead of 63rd Street Beach.

On the #72 North route, buses will travel as far as North/Clark, instead of North Avenue Beach.

The #78 Montrose route, buses will travel as far as Montrose/Marine, instead of Montrose Avenue Beach.

Franklin/Orleans Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Maintenance Beginning TuesdayThe Franklin/Orleans bridge over the Chicago River will be closed weekdays only from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 7 through Tuesday, September 14. The closure may affect some northbound morning and afternoon rush period trips on the #37 Sedgwick/Ogden and #125 Water Tower Express routes. Affected trips will operate via Wacker, LaSalle, Hubbard, back to Orleans, then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.

Devon and Oriole Closed for Sewer Work Beginning WednesdayThe intersection of Devon/Oriole will be closed from 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 6 until 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 21. #88 Higgins buses will operate in both directions via Canfield, Ozark, Northwest Highway, back to Harlem, then resume the regular route.
