EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER 24 - 26

Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 87th and 95th Streets from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday and again in the same location northbound from 10 p.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceCTA Red Line trains will discontinue using the set of by-pass tracks between 92nd and 96th Streets this weekend. Trains are expected to return to the main track.

CTA trains also are using by-pass tracks between 52nd and 56th Streets until early November.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal stations.

State Street Closes for Removal of Construction Crane Beginning Friday NightState Street will be closed northbound only between Roosevelt and 11th from 7 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Sunday. Northbound #24 Wentworth, #29 State and #62 Archer buses will operate via State, Roosevelt, Wabash, 11th, back to State, then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.

Michigan Avenue Closes for Removal of Construction Crane Beginning Saturday MorningMichigan Avenue will be closed southbound just south of Roosevelt from 7 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday. Southbound #4 Cottage Grove buses will operate via Michigan, Roosevelt, Wabash, 14th, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.

79th Street Closes for Reconstruction of Railroad Crossing Beginning Saturday Morning79th Street will be closed at Central Park from 7 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Friday, October 1. #79 79th buses will operate in both directions via 79th, Pulaski, Columbus Avenue, back to 79th, then resume the regular route.

Parade May Cause Intermittent Service Delays and Temporary Reroutes SaturdayThe Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Back to School Parade will take place from 9:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday. Participants will march northwest from the church at 8109 South Chicago to Jeffery, north to 79th, east to Yates, south to 83rd, west to South Chicago and south back to the church. The following reroutes will be in effect if bus routes are blocked during the parade:

#14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses will operate in both directions via Jeffery, Anthony, Stony Island, 76th, back to Jeffery, then resume the regular route.

#30 South Chicago buses will operate in both directions via South Chicago, 85th, Anthony, 81st, back to South Chicago, then resume the regular route.

#79 79th buses will operate in both directions via 79th, Stony Island, 76th, Yates, back to 79th, then resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Soccer Game at Soldier Field Saturday Night Additional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus routes serving Soldier Field for a soccer game between the Chicago Fire and the New England Revolution Saturday at 8 p.m. Additional service will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

Additional Service Provided for Navy Pier Fireworks on Saturday NightsAdditional buses will operate on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier bus routes for spectators attending the fall fireworks displays at Navy Pier at 9 p.m. Saturday nights through October 30. The last #124 bus leaves the pier at midnight. The last #29 and #66 buses leave the pier at 12:20 a.m.

Parade Causes Bus Reroutes in Chinatown on SundayThe Chinese-American Association of Greater Chicago China Day Parade will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Participants will march from Wentworth/26th, north to Cermak, and west to Princeton where the parade will disband. #18 16th/18th buses will operate in both directions via 18th, Clark, back to Cermak, then resume the regular route.

#21 Cermak and #X21 Cermak Express buses will operate via Cermak, Archer, Clark, back to Cermak, then resume the regular route.

Diversey Closes for Sewer Work Beginning Monday MorningDiversey will be closed at Avers from 9 a.m. Monday, September 27 through Tuesday, September 28. #76 Diversey buses will operate in both directions via Diversey, Pulaski, Wrightwood, Central Park, back to Diversey, then resume the regular route.
