Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of September 23 – 25

Late Night Single Track in Blue Line Subway for Sewer Cleaning Beginning FridaySingle track service will be in effect southbound between Grand and LaSalle from10 p.m. Friday, September 23 until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 24 and again southbound between LaSalle and Morgan from 10 p.m. Saturday, September 24 until 6 a.m. Sunday, September 25.

One Stairway at Blue Line's Monroe Station Temporarily Closes Beginning SaturdayThe northeast stairway leading from the mezzanine to street level at the Monroe station in the Dearborn subway will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. Saturday, September 24 until Monday, November 7 while the sidewalk on Dearborn is repaired. The southeast stairway on Dearborn and the northwest stairway (inside the Bank One building) will be available for customers at all times.

Longer Purple Line Trains Provided for Northwestern Wildcats Football SaturdayThe Northwestern Wildcats host Penn State 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24. Longer Purple Line trains will begin operating at 9 a.m. and after the game as crowds warrant. Ryan Field is just west of the Purple Line's Central station in Evanston.

Maintenance Temporarily Closes Platform and Stairway on Brown Line's Paulina Station SundayMaintenance work will require temporary closure of the southbound Paulina platform and stairway on the Brown Line from 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, September 25. As a result, southbound trains will not stop at Paulina during these hours. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Paulina will need to travel to the Southport station and transfer to northbound trains back to Paulina.

Half-Marathon Closes Several South Side Streets SundayThe Chicago Half-Marathon will close several South Side streets from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, September 25. Closures will affect Lake Shore Drive between 35th and 57th Streets, Stony Island between 57th and Marquette, and Midway Plaisance between Stony Island and Ellis.

The #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island, #55 Garfield and #171 U. of Chicago/Hyde Park buses will be affected by the Chicago Half-Marathon street closures.

#6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate in both directions via Stony Island, 63rd, Cottage Grove, 55th, Hyde Park, 47th, King, 31st to Lake Shore Drive, then resume the regular route.

Southbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate via Lake Shore Drive, 31st, King, 47th, Lake Park Boulevard to 56th where they will begin their northbound trips via Hyde Park, 47th, King, 31st, Lake Shore Drive then resume the regular route.

#14 Jeffery Express buses will operate in both directions via Stony Island, 67th, King, 31st, Lake Shore Drive, then resume the regular route.

#15 Jeffery Local and #28 Stony Island buses will operate in both directions via Stony Island, 63rd, Cottage Grove, 55th to Lake Park, then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #55 Garfield buses will operate via 55th, Lake Park to 56th where they will begin their westbound trips via Hyde Park to 55th, then resume the regular route.

#171 U. of Chicago/Hyde Park buses will operate in both directions via 55th, Woodlawn, 53rd, Lake Park, back to 55th, then resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Bears Game on SundayAdditional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/ Michigan Express bus routes for the Bears game against the Cincinnati Bengals at noon on Sunday, September 25. Additional service on the #12 route will begin operating at 6 a.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

CTA's #128 Soldier Field Express route also will operate between the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Soldier Field beginning at 10:25 a.m. and continuing until one hour after the game ends.

Clark Street Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Repairs Next ThursdayThe Clark Street bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 29. Southbound #22 Clark buses will operate via Clark, Kinzie, LaSalle, Wacker, back to Clark, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.

Red Line Work:
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 79th and 94th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, September 23 until 8 a.m. Saturday, September 24.

Single track service will be in effect southbound between 15th and 33rd Streets from 8 p.m. Saturday, September 24 until noon Sunday, September 25. When completed, customers will experience more reliable service and improved stations.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekSingle track service will be in effect northbound between Garfield and 45th Street from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Tuesday night, September 27 and southbound in the same location during the same hours Wednesday night, September 28 and Thursday night, September 29. When completed, customers will experience more reliable service and improved stations.

Maintenance Temporarily Closes Red Line Platform over the WeekendPlatform rehabilitation will temporarily close the southbound platform at the 87th station on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, September 24. As a result, southbound customers who wish to exit at 87th will need to travel to 95th and transfer to northbound trains back to 87th.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Three Southbound Red Line Platforms Beginning SundayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Sunday, September 25 through Thursday, September 29. As a result, southbound trains will not stop at the Jarvis, Morse and Loyola stations. During these hours, customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Granville station and transfer to northbound trains back to those stations.
