Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Trains to Operate on the Westbound Tracks on the Forest Park Branch This Weekend

All Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the westbound (to Forest Park) tracks between the Racine and LaSalle stations from 10 p.m. Friday, September 17 until 6 a.m. the following morning, due to track maintenance work.
 
Blue Line customers at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton and LaSalle stations traveling eastbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the westbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Saturday Night
From 10 p.m. Saturday, September 18 until 7 a.m. the following morning, Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the westbound (to Forest Park) tracks between the Racine and LaSalle stations as track maintenance work continues.
 
Blue Line customers at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton and LaSalle stations traveling eastbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the westbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Trains to Operate on the Same Tracks on the Forest Park Branch Next Week

All Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the eastbound (to O’Hare) tracks between the UIC-Halsted and Western stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday night, September 19 through Thursday morning, September 23, due to track maintenance work.
 
During these times, Blue Line customers at the Racine and Illinois Medical District stations traveling westbound (to Forest Park) must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Thursday Night – at Western
From 10 p.m. Thursday, September 23 until 4 a.m. the following morning, all Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the eastbound (to O’Hare) tracks at the Western station as track maintenance work continues.
 
Blue Line customers at Western traveling westbound (to Forest Park) must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Trains to Operate on the Same Tracks at the 47th Street Station Next Week

All late night Red Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to 95th/Dan Ryan) tracks at the 47th Street station from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday, September 19 through Thursday morning, September 23, due to track maintenance work.
 
Red Line customers at the 47th Street station traveling northbound (to Howard) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to 95th/Dan Ryan) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

CTA Provides Service to Weekend Concerts at Wrigley Field

CTA provides a convenient option to Wrigley Field for fans attending the Dave Matthews Band concerts on Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18. The concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. 
 
The Red Line provides direct service to Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison, which is just a short walk away from the ballpark. Eight-car trains will operate on the Red Line until 1 a.m. to accommodate the anticipated crowds. Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.
 
Several CTA bus routes also provide convenient service directly to Wrigley Field.

Post-Event Only Service Provided for the Roger Waters: The Wall Live Concerts Next Week

The CTA will provide post-event service only on the #19 United Center Express route for the four Roger Waters: The Wall Live concerts next week. All concerts will start at 8 p.m. on the following dates:
 
  • Monday, September 20
  • Tuesday, September 21
  • Thursday, September 23
  • Friday, September 24
 
Service to the United Center prior to the start of the concerts will not be provided along the #19 route.  To get to the concerts, customers are encouraged to take the #20 Madison route, which provides direct service to the United Center from downtown.

At the end of each concert, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.

Following the concerts, customers can board #19 buses from the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3.  From the United Center #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.

 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Reinstatement of #49A South Western Bus Stop

Currently in effect, the near side bus stop at Western/York served by southbound #49A South Western buses has been reinstated following the completion of nearby construction.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Morse/Glenwood

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, October 1, the far side bus stop at Morse/Glenwood served by eastbound #96 Lunt and #155 Devon buses has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop at Morse/Lakewood, due to sidewalk construction.
 

Village of Oak Park October Fest Detours Southbound #90 Harlem Buses

Currently in effect until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, September 19, #90 Harlem buses are being rerouted due to the closure of North Boulevard east of Harlem for the annual Village of Oak Park October Fest.
 
Southbound #90 buses are operating over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are traveling via Washington, Oak Park, South Boulevard to Harlem and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #90 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

8th Ward Back to School Parade Detours Five Routes on Saturday

From 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, September 18, five CTA bus routes will be detoured due to the closure of Cottage Grove between 83rd Street and 87th Street, and 87th Street between Cottage Grove and Jeffery for the annual 8th Ward Back to School Parade. The following bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets: #4 Cottage Grove, #14 Jeffery Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #87 87th.  
 
Participants will assemble along Cottage Grove between 83rd and 87th streets beginning at 8:30 a.m. The parade will step-off at 10 a.m. and proceed east on 87th Street to Jeffery into Jesse Owens Park at Chappel and then disband.
 
Northbound #4 buses will travel over the regular route along Cottage Grove to 87th Street then will operate via 87th Street, King Drive, 83rd Street to Cottage Grove and then resume the regular route. Southbound #4 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #14 and #15 buses will operate over their regular routes along Jeffery to 93rd Street then will travel via 93rd Street, Colfax, Anthony to Jeffery and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #14 and #15 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #28 buses will travel over the regular route along Stony Island to 93rd Street then will operate via 93rd Street, Colfax, Anthony, 83rd Street to Stony Island and then resume the regular route. Southbound #28 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #87 buses will operate over the regular route along 87th Street to King Drive then will travel via King Drive, 83rd Street, Anthony to 87th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #87 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Blackhawks Mad Dash to Madison 5K Run, Walk and Skate Detours Three Routes

From 7 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 18, #9 Ashland, #20 Madison and #50 Damen buses will be rerouted due to the closure of Madison between Oakley and Ashland for the Blackhawks Mad Dash to Madison 5K Run, Walk and Skate.
 
Northbound #9 buses will travel over the regular route along Ashland to Ogden then will operate via Ogden, Washington to Ashland and then resume the regular route. Southbound #9 buses will operate over the regular route along Ashland to Warren then will travel via Warren, Ogden to Ashland and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #20 buses will travel over the regular route along Madison to Western then will operate via Western, Harrison, Ogden to Madison and then resume the regular route. Westbound #20 buses will operate over the regular route along Madison to Ogden then will travel via Ogden, Van Buren, Western to Madison and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #50 buses will travel over the regular route along Damen to Van Buren then will operate via Van Buren, Western, Grand to Damen then resume the regular route. Southbound #50 buses will operate over the regular route along Damen to Grand then will travel via Grand, Western, Jackson to Damen and then resume the regular route.
 

Lawndale 5K Walk/Run Detours Two Bus Routes on Saturday

On Saturday, September 18 from 8 a.m. to noon, #52 Kedzie/California and #82 Kimball/Homan buses will be detoured due to the closure of Central Park between Douglas and Ogden, and Douglas Boulevard between Central Park and Albany for the annual Lawndale 5K Walk/Run.
 
Southbound #52 buses will travel over the regular route along Kedzie to Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt, California, Ogden to Kedzie and then resume the regular route. Northbound #52 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #82 buses will operate over the regular route along Homan to Roosevelt then will travel via Roosevelt, Pulaski, Cermak to Central Park and then resume the regular route. Northbound #82 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

#94 South California Buses Detoured Due to a Viaduct Construction Project

From 5 a.m. Monday, September 20 until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, December 31, #94 South California buses will be detoured due to the temporary closure of California Avenue between Taylor and Fillmore for construction work on a nearby viaduct.
 
Northbound #94 buses will travel over the regular route along California to Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt, Sacramento, Harrison to California and then resume the regular route. Southbound #94 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops Served by 10 Routes

From 5 a.m. Monday, September 20 through 5 a.m. Saturday, October 2, the following bus stop changes will be in effect due to the installation of new concrete bus pads along Michigan Avenue:
 
  • Michigan/Ontario: the northbound near side stop will be removed from service.
  • Michigan/Erie: a new northbound near side stop will be added to service.
  • Michigan/Huron: the northbound near side stop will be removed from service.
 
These bus stops are served by #3 King Drive, #26 South Shore Express, #125 Water Tower Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #148 Clarendon/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Street Repair Work Detours Eastbound #74 Fullerton Buses

Currently in effect until further notice, #74 Fullerton buses are being detoured due to the closure of Webster Avenue between Halsted and Lincoln due to street repair work.
 
Eastbound #74 buses are operating over the regular route along Halsted to Belden then are traveling via Belden to Lincoln and resuming the regular route. Westbound #74 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
 

Temporary Reroute for Select #24 Wentworth Buses  

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, September 24, only #24 Wentworth buses traveling to 87th Street/Racine are being temporarily rerouted due to sewer repair work on Vincennes Avenue near Lowe Avenue.
 
#24 Wentworth – Trips to 87th Street/Racine Only
Northbound #24 buses are operating over the regular route along Vincennes to Halsted then are traveling via Halsted to the 79th Street/Halsted terminal and continuing through the terminal to Emerald then operating via Emerald, 79th to Vincennes and resuming the regular route. Southbound #24 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #75 74th/75th Bus Stop at 75th Street/Jeffery

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, September 30, the eastbound near side stop at 75th Street/Jeffery served by #75 74th/75th buses has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Temporary Reroute in Effect for #78 Montrose Buses Due to Work at Clark/Wilson

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, October 29, #78 Montrose buses are temporarily unable to make turns at the intersection of Clark/Wilson due to a streetscape project.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses are operating over the regular route along Montrose to Ashland then are traveling via Ashland, Wilson past Clark and then resuming the regular route east on Wilson. Westbound #78 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 30, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market, resulting in a detour of the #36 Broadway and #70 Division bus routes.
 
Southbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroutes Due to Bridge Repair Work

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work, resulting in a detour of the #111 Pullman/111th/115th bus route.
 
Southbound #111 buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
 
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
 

Change to Bus Stop along #156 LaSalle Bus Route

A traffic lane reduction is in effect at LaSalle/Kinzie due to a Commonwealth Edison project. As a result, the northbound far side stop served by #156 LaSalle buses has been temporarily removed from service until Friday, November 12.
 

Construction Temporarily Detours #14 Jeffery Express Buses in the Loop

Currently in effect until 6 p.m. Friday, November 19, #14 Jeffery Express buses are being detoured due to the closure of Monroe Street between Franklin and LaSalle for nearby construction.
 
Southbound #14 buses are traveling over the regular route along Monroe to Franklin then operating via Franklin, Washington, LaSalle to Monroe and resuming the regular route. Northbound #14 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
Bus Stop Changes
  • Monroe/Franklin: the southbound near side stop has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop on Franklin at Monroe.
  • Monroe/LaSalle: the southbound near side stop has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Jeffery/75th Street

Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound far side bus stop at Jeffery/75th Street has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop due to sidewalk construction. This stop is served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses.
 

Temporary Changes in Service for #21 Cermak and #62 Archer Buses Serving the Cermak-Chinatown Station

Currently in effect, customers at the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station must use the new entrance located on Archer Avenue approximately one block north of Cermak. This entrance will serve as the primary access point for customers while the main entrance to the station on the north side of Cermak is reconstructed and made accessible. 
 
As a result of these changes, and to accommodate customers transferring between bus and rail services, the following changes have been made to buses serving the station:
 
#21 Cermak
Eastbound #21 Cermak buses are traveling over the regular route along Cermak to Wentworth then operating via Wentworth, Archer, Clark to Cermak and resuming the regular route. Westbound #21 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
  • Cermak/Wentworth: the near side stop at Cermak/Wentworth served by eastbound #21 buses has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Wentworth/Cermak: new temporary stops have been added at Wentworth/Cermak for eastbound and westbound #21 buses. Eastbound customers must board and exit buses from the far side stop; westbound customers must board and exit buses from the near side stop.
  • Cermak/Red Line Station: the mid-block stop near the Cermak Road entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Archer/Red Line Station: eastbound #21 buses are serving the new temporary mid-block stop near the Archer Avenue entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station.
  • Wentworth/Archer: westbound #21 buses are serving the new temporary far side stop at Wentworth/Archer.
 
#62 Archer
  • Archer/Wentworth: the northbound near side stop at Archer/Wentworth served by #62 buses has been removed from service.
  • Archer/Red Line Station: northbound #62 buses are serving the new mid-block stop near the Archer Avenue entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station.
 

#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop at Milwaukee/Diversey Temporarily Relocated

Until further notice, the southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Diversey served by #56 Milwaukee buses has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster

Currently in effect until further notice, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster has been temporarily removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses has been temporarily removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses at either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then traveling via Upper Wacker to Adams and resuming the regular route west on Adams.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
