Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of September 15 - 17

Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Throughout the Brown Line construction project, slow zones and single track operation are periodically necessary near construction activity so, as a general rule, rail customers should allow extra travel time.

Kimball and Francisco Brown Line Stations to Temporarily Close Friday Evening
The Chicago Transit Authority is reminding CTA customers that beginning at 10 p.m. tomorrow, September 15, the CTA's Kimball and Francisco stations on the Brown Line will temporarily close for renovation as part of the Brown Line capacity expansion project. In addition to the temporary closures of the Kimball and Francisco stations, both the Kedzie and Rockwell stations will close this weekend, September 15 ? 17, at 10 p.m. and re-open for service Monday morning, September 18.

This weekend Brown Line trains will operate from Western station to the Loop. Bus shuttle service will be provided to customers free of charge from Western station to Kimball station starting at 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday as a substitute for rail service. The bus shuttle will make stops at the Western station, Rockwell and Lawrence, Sacramento and Lawrence, Kedzie and Lawrence, Kedzie and Wilson, and at the Kimball station. Additional Service Provided for Bears Game Sunday
CTA will provide additional service on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and will operate the #128 Soldier Field Express for the Chicago Bears game Sunday, September 17 against the Detroit Lions. The game begins at noon.

#12 Roosevelt will operate additional buses between State Street and Soldier Field.

#128 Soldier Field Express will operate non-stop between the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Soldier Field for the convenience of Bears fans. Service will operate every few minutes from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and for one hour after the game ends.

The fare for #128 buses is $1 for full-fare customers and 50 cents for reduced fare customers. The exact cash fare is required to receive the special rate.

#146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express will operate additional buses to Soldier Field every few minutes for two hours before the game starts and one hour after the game ends.

In addition to the extra bus service, CTA will operate longer Red, Orange and Green Line trains for customers traveling to and from Soldier Field. The stations are at Roosevelt and State, a few blocks west of the stadium. CTA will operate longer trains and provide additional Customer Assistants at the Roosevelt Green and Orange Line elevated and the Red Line subway stations to assist customers.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Orange Line Thursday Night
A single track will be in effect between the 35th/Archer and Halsted stations from 11 p.m. Thursday, September 14 until 4 a.m. Friday, September 15. North and southbound customers boarding at the Ashland and Halsted stations must board on the east side of the platform. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect in Blue Line Dearborn Subway for Maintenance Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Damen and Grand stations in the Dearborn subway from 11 p.m. Friday, September 15 until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 16 and again in the same location, during the same hours Saturday night. North and southbound customers boarding at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board on the northbound side of the platform.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between 45th and 63rd from 11 p.m. Friday, September 15 until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 16 and again in the same location Saturday night from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m. Sunday, September 17. On Friday night, north and southbound customers boarding at the 47th and Garfield stations must board on the west side of the platform. On Saturday night, north and southbound customers boarding at the 47th and Garfield stations must board on the east side of the platform.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 79th and 87th from 11 p.m. Monday, September 18 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, September 19 and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday, September 19, Wednesday, September 20 and Thursday, September 21. On Monday and Thursday nights, north and southbound customers boarding at the 79th station must board on the west side of the platform. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, north and southbound customers boarding at the 79th station must board on the east side of the platform.

Additional Service Provided to Lakefront Pavilion Concerts
The #130 Grant Park Treasures will provide service for customers after the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with the Strokes concerts Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15 at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island. The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday night, September 17, the #130 will provide service to and from the Chris Brown with Ne-Yo, Lil? Wayne, Dem Franchize Boyz and Juelz Santana concert. The concert begins at 7 p.m. #130 buses will depart from Ogilvie every 15 minutes from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

After the concerts, #130 buses will operate every few minutes for 30 minutes between the Museum Campus, Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center.

Cermak Closes for Cicero Mexican Independence Day Parade Sunday
Cermak will be closed between 54th Avenue and 61st Court from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday, September 17. Eastbound #21 Cermak buses will operate via Cermak to Ridgeland, 16th, Laramie, back to Cermak, then resume the regular route.

Westbound buses will operate via 54th Avenue to 16th, Ridgeland, Cermak, then resume the regular route.
