Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Rail Service Temporarily Suspended in Dearborn Subway This Weekend

The final phase of the Dearborn Subway project begins this weekend and will focus on renewing 19,000 feet of track along the south end of the subway. Rail service between the Blue Line’s Clark/Lake and UIC-Halsted stations will be temporarily suspended from 10 p.m. Friday, September 11 until 4 a.m. Monday, September 14, as work continues to replace track.
 
Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops adjacent to the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe, Jackson, LaSalle, Clinton and UIC-Halsted stations. Southbound buses will travel along Clark and Van Buren and northbound buses will operate via Harrison and Dearborn.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track Next Week at the Kedzie-Homan Station

A late night single track will be in effect for westbound Blue Line trains at the Kedzie-Homan station on the Forest Park branch from 9 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, September 14 through Friday morning, September 18. 
 
During these times, westbound Blue Line customers at the Kedzie-Homan station must board and exit trains from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Red Line Trains Rerouted at Sheridan

Northbound and southbound Red Line trains will undergo a continuous reroute at the Sheridan station from 6 a.m. Saturday, September 12 until 6 p.m. Sunday, September 13, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 
Next Week
Work to reduce slow zones near the Sheridan Red Line station continues next week resulting in a reroute of northbound and southbound trains from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, September 15 through Friday, September 18.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

Red/Brown Lines – Other Events Affecting Service

Red and Brown Line Trains Rerouted at Fullerton and Belmont This Weekend

Due to work on the canopies at the Fullerton and Belmont stations, northbound Red and Brown line trains temporarily will be rerouted to operate on the southbound tracks from 9 p.m. Friday, September 11 until 9 a.m. the following morning and then again from 9 p.m. Saturday, September 12 until 9 a.m. the following morning.
 
Northbound Red and Brown line customers at the Fullerton and Belmont stations must board and exit trains from the southbound Red Line side of the platform. Southbound Red Line customers at these stations must board and exit trains from the southbound Brown Line side of the platform.
 
During this time, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey and Wellington. Northbound Brown Line customers who want to exit at Diversey or Wellington should ride to Belmont and transfer to a southbound train to their respective station. Customers at Diversey and Wellington who want to travel north should take a southbound train to Fullerton and transfer to a northbound train.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the route and direction of each train.
 

Fullerton Stationhouse Entrance Opens Saturday

Although construction work continues, on Saturday afternoon, September 12, CTA customers entering and exiting the Fullerton station served by the Red, Brown and Purple lines will begin using the new station entrance located approximately 75 feet west of the existing temporary entrance.
 
The temporary entrance was opened in October 2006 to allow crews to relocate the historic stationhouse to the north side of Fullerton Parkway and build the new station in its place.
 
While CTA personnel relocate fare equipment to the permanent station entrance Saturday morning, mobile fare boxes will be available in the temporary entrance to ensure continued access to the station.
 
Construction work associated with the Brown Line capacity expansion project will continue at Fullerton and in the new stationhouse until later this year. Upon completion of construction work, the Fullerton station will be fully accessible to customers with disabilities. 
 

Additional Service for Special Events

Service for U2 Concerts at Soldier Field This Weekend

CTA will provide additional service for concert goers attending the U2 concerts at Soldier Field this weekend. The concerts will begin at 7 p.m. on both Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.
 
Beginning at approximately 4 p.m. until the start of the concert, increased service along the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express route will be provided. Buses also will operate approximately every five minutes for one hour following the concert.
 
Buses Rerouted
In anticipation of heavy traffic along Roosevelt and Lake Shore Drive due to the concert at Soldier Field, four CTA bus routes will be detoured from 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.
 
Southbound #6 Jackson Park Express and #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will travel over their regular routes along Balbo to Michigan then will operate via Michigan, Cermak, King Drive, 31st Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume their regular routes. Northbound #6 and #10 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over the regular route along Michigan past Balbo to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, King Drive, 31st Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Northbound #14 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Columbus to Lake Shore Drive then will operate via Lake Shore Drive, 18th Street to Museum Campus Drive and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Museum Campus Drive to Waldron then will operate via Waldron, Lake Shore Drive to Columbus and then resume the regular route.
 

Longer Trains Operating on Orange, Pink and Red Lines This Weekend for Mexican Independence Day Parades

To accommodate an increase in customers traveling to and from the various Mexican Independence Day parades this weekend, the CTA will be operating longer trains along the Pink, Orange and Red. Additional service along these lines will be provided during the following times:
 
  • Pink Line: Saturday, September 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Orange Line: Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 3 p.m. to midnight.
  • Red Line: From approximately 10:40 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
 

Bus Reroutes for Mexican Independence Day Parades This Weekend

In-Effect: Festival de la Villita Detours #60 Blue Island/26th Buses

Currently in effect until 3 a.m. Monday, September 14, 26th Street will be closed between Kostner and Ogden for the annual Festival de la Villita.
 
Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate over the regular route along 26th Street to Kostner then will travel via Kostner, Ogden to Cicero and then resume the regular route north along Cicero to the terminal at Cicero/24th Place before beginning eastbound service.
 
Eastbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route along Cicero to Ogden then will operate via Ogden, Kostner to 26th Street and then resume the regular route.
 
NOTE: #60 Blue Island/26th buses will undergo further rerouting on Sunday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. due to the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day parade. See reroute details below.
 

Saturday: Mexican Independence Day Parade in Grant Park Detours Three Routes

On Saturday, September 12 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m., Columbus Drive between Balbo and Roosevelt, and Balbo Drive between Michigan and Lake Shore Drive will be closed to all traffic for the Mexican Independence Day parade.
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #14 Jeffery Express buses will travel over their regular routes along Columbus to Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt to Michigan and resume their regular routes.
 
Southbound #6, #10 and #14 buses will operate via Michigan, Roosevelt to Columbus and then will resume their regular routes.
 

Saturday: Pilsen Mexican Independence Day Parade Detours Three Routes

On Saturday, September 12 from noon until 1 p.m., 18th Street between Newberry and Wolcott will be closed to all traffic for the Pilsen Mexican Independence Day parade.
 
Participants will begin assembling at 10 a.m. The parade will step-off at noon.
 
Northbound #9 Ashland buses will operate over the regular route along Ashland to Cermak then will travel via Cermak, Halsted, 16th Street to Ashland and then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route along 18th Street to Damen then will operate via Damen, Cermak, Halsted to 18th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate over the regular route along Cermak past Loomis to Halsted then will travel via Halsted, 16th Street to Racine and then resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Sunday: 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade Detours Four Routes

From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 26th Street between California and Kostner will be closed to all traffic for the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day parade. Participants will assemble at 6 a.m. The parade will step-off at noon.
 
Southbound #52 Kedzie/California buses will travel over the regular route along Kedzie to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Marshall, 24th Boulevard, California, 36th Place, Albany, 36th Street to Kedzie and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #52 buses will operate over the regular route along Kedzie to 36th Street then will travel via 36th Street, California, 24th Boulevard, Marshall, Cermak to Kedzie and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #53 Pulaski buses only will travel to Pulaski/Cermak before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #53 buses will begin service from Pulaski/Cermak and will operate north on Pulaski over the regular route.
 
Southbound #53 Pulaski buses that only operate between Pulaski/Cermak and 31st Street/Komensky will travel over the regular route along Pulaski to Ogden then will operate via Ogden, Cicero, 31st Street to the terminal at 31st/Komensky. Northbound #53 buses will depart from the terminal and travel west on 31st Street to Cicero then will operate via Cicero, Ogden, Kostner, Cermak to Pulaski and then resume the regular route.
 
Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate over the regular route along 26th Street to California then will travel via California, 24th Boulevard, Marshall, Cermak, Cicero to the terminal at Cicero/24th Place. Eastbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #82 Kimball-Homan buses only will travel to Central Park/Ogden before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #82 buses will travel north on Central Park over the regular route.
 
Southbound #82 Kimball-Homan buses that only operate between Central Park/Cermak and Central Park/31st Street will depart from Central Park/Cermak to Cermak then will travel via Cermak, Ogden, Cicero, 31st Street to the terminal at 31st/Lawndale. Northbound #82 buses will depart from the terminal and operate via 31st Street, Cicero, Ogden, Cermak to the Central Park/Cermak terminal.
 

Sunday: South Chicago Mexican Independence Day Parade Detours Four Routes

Four CTA bus routes will be detoured from noon until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, for the South Chicago Mexican Independence Day Parade. Beginning at 10 a.m., participants will assemble along 83rd Street between South Shore and Commercial. The parade will step-off at noon and will proceed south on Commercial Avenue to 100th Street.
 
Southbound #30 South Chicago buses will travel over the regular route along South Chicago past 92nd Street to Exchange then will operate via Exchange, Escanaba, 95th Street, Colfax, Torrence, 106th Street to Ewing and then resume the regular route. Northbound #30 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #71 71st/South Shore buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 83rd Street then will travel via 83rd Street, South Chicago, Exchange, Escanaba, 95th Street, Colfax, Torrence to 104th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #71 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #87 87th buses will operate over the regular route along 87th to South Chicago then will travel via South Chicago to Exchange before turning to begin westbound service. Westbound #87 buses will travel north on South Chicago to 87th Street then resume the regular route along 87th Street.
 
Eastbound #95E 93rd/95th buses only will operate along 92nd Street to Exchange before turning to begin westbound service. Westbound #95E buses will travel south on Exchange over the regular route.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Railroad Crossing Repairs Detour #79 79th Buses through Next Week

Currently in effect until 9 a.m. Friday, September 18, 79th Street at Exchange will be closed to all traffic due to railroad crossing repairs.
 
Eastbound #79 79th buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Exchange then will operate via Exchange, 83rd Street, South Shore to 79th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #79 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Bus Stop Near McCormick Center Temporarily Relocated

Currently in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, the southbound near side bus stop at 2300 S. King Drive will be temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to an event at McCormick Place. This stop is served by #3 King Drive, #X3 King Drive Express, #X4 Cottage Grove Express, #21 Cermak and #129 West Loop/South Loop buses.
 

#63 63rd Bus Stop Temporarily Removed Due to Construction

Currently in effect until Friday, September 18, the eastbound mid-intersection bus stop at 63rd Street/Wabash will be temporarily removed from service due to nearby demolition work. Customers are advised to board and exit eastbound #63 buses either from 63rd Street/State or 63rd Street/Michigan.
 

Construction Work at Belmont Station Detours #77 Belmont Buses

Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Belmont Avenue at the Red/Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday, September 11 until 9 a.m. the following morning and then again from 9 p.m. Saturday September 12 until 9 a.m. the following morning.
 
Eastbound #77 Belmont buses will travel over the regular route to Belmont/Sheffield, then will operate via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted then return to Belmont and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Fullerton Station Work Detours #74 Fullerton Buses on Saturday

Fullerton Avenue at the Red/Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic from 1 a.m. Saturday, September 12 until 7 a.m. due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project.
 
Eastbound #74 Fullerton buses will travel over the regular route along Fullerton to Sheffield where they will make a near side service stop. Buses will continue to travel south on Sheffield to Webster then will operate via Webster, Lincoln, Sheffield to Fullerton. Westbound service along the #74 route will begin at Fullerton/Sheffield and buses will continue west on Fullerton over the regular route.
 

Renegade Craft Fair Detours #70 Division Buses This Weekend

Division Street will be closed between Damen and Paulina from 1 a.m. Saturday, September 12 until 6 a.m. Monday, September 14 for the Renegade Craft Fair.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will operate over the regular route along Division to Damen then will travel via Damen, Augusta, Ashland to Division and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Annual Auburn Gresham 79th Street Renaissance Festival Detours #79 79th Buses

On Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., 79th Street between Racine and Loomis will be closed to all traffic for the annual Auburn Gresham 79th Street Renaissance Festival.
 
Westbound #79 79th buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Racine and then will operate via Racine, 76th Street, Loomis to 79th Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #79 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

14 Downtown Bus Routes Undergo Intermittent Reroutes This Weekend

From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, the following streets will be temporarily closed at various times through out the day due to a filming project:
 
  • Northbound Dearborn at Adams
  • Franklin Street between Van Buren and Washington
  • State Street between Congress and Adams
  • Clark Street between Madison and Van Buren
  • Canal between Jackson and Monroe
 
As a result, the following 14 CTA bus routes will be temporarily detoured to adjacent streets to maintain service:

Von Steuben Day Parade Temporarily Detours Four Routes on Saturday

From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Western will be closed due to the Von Steuben Day Parade.
 
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate over the regular route along Lincoln to Damen then travel via Damen, Lawrence to Western and then resume the regular route. Southbound #11 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #49 Western buses will travel over the regular route along Western to Irving Park, then operate via Irving Park, Damen, Lawrence to Western and then resume the regular route. Southbound #49 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #49B North Western buses will operate over the regular route along Western to Foster then will travel via Foster, Lincoln to Western. Northbound #49B buses will begin service from Lincoln/Western and will travel north on Western over the regular route.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will travel over the regular route along Montrose to Western then will operate via Western, Lawrence, Damen to Montrose and resume the regular route. Westbound #78 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Chicago Half Marathon & 5K Detour Six Routes in Jackson Park Area on Sunday

Six CTA bus routes operating in the Jackson Park area will be subject to detours on Sunday, September 13 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. due to the Chicago Half Marathon & 5K.
 
Participants will assemble at the intersection of Cornell/Hayes. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and will circle Jackson Park, Jackson Park Golf Course, Jackson Park Harbors and Lake Shore Drive.
 
The following reroutes will go into effect as necessary:
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate over the regular route along 67th Street past Stony Island to Cottage Grove then will travel via Cottage Grove, 55th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Hyde Park, Lake Park, 47th Street, King Drive, 31st Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses will travel the reverse.
 
Southbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will travel over the regular route along Lake Shore Drive to 31st Street then will operate via 31st Street, King Drive, 47th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Hyde Park to 55th Street where buses will turn to begin northbound service.
 
From Hyde Park/55th Street, northbound #10 buses will continue north along Hyde Park to Lake Park then will operate via Lake Park, 47th Street, King Drive, 31st Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will travel over the regular route  along Jeffery to 67th Street then will operate via 67th Street, King Drive, 31st Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Southbound #14 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #15 Jeffery Local and #28 Stony Island buses will operate over their regular routes along Stony Island to 63rd Street then will travel via 63rd Street, Cottage Grove, 55th Street to Lake Park and then resume the regular route. Southbound #15 and #28 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #55 Garfield buses will travel over the regular route along 55th Street to Lake Park then will operate via Lake Park, 56th Street, Hyde Park to 55th Street before turning to begin westbound service. From Lake Park/55th Street, westbound #55 buses will operate west along Hyde Park over the regular route.
 

Daytime Detour for Six Bus Routes Due to Washington Street Bridge Lifts

The Washington Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, due to trial bridge lifts.
 
Eastbound #20 Madison, #X20 Washington/Madison Express and northbound #56 Milwaukee buses will travel over their regular routes along Washington to Clinton then will operate via Clinton to Madison where they will make a near side stop. Buses will then travel via Clinton, Monroe, Wacker to Washington and then resume their regular routes.
 
Westbound #20, #X20 and southbound #56 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate over the regular route along Canal past Washington to Canal then will travel via Canal, Lake, Wacker to Washington and then resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route.
 
Eastbound #124 Navy Pier and northbound #157 Streeterville/Taylor buses will travel over their regular routes along Canal past Washington to Canal then will operate via Canal, Lake to Wacker then resume their regular routes. Westbound #124 and southbound #157 buses will travel over their regular routes.
 

Clark Street Bridge Lifts Detour #22 Clark Buses on Tuesday

The Clark Street Bridge over the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, due to trial bridge lifts.
 
Southbound #22 Clark buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Kinzie, then will travel via Kinzie, LaSalle, Wacker to Clark and then resume the regular route. Northbound #22 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Bus Stop at Clark/Lake Temporarily Relocated

Until further notice, the southbound stop at Clark/Lake will be relocated approximately 100 feet south to a mid-block stop on Clark between Lake and Randolph due to façade repair work at the James R. Thompson Center. This stop is served by #22 Clark and #24 Wentworth buses.
 

Construction Temporarily Detours #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland Buses

Due to construction work at the northeast corner of South Boulevard and Ridgeland, southbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland buses are temporarily detoured on weekdays only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. until further notice.
 
Southbound #86 buses will operate over the regular route along Lake Street past Lombard to Austin then will travel via Austin, Washington, Ridgeland to the intersection of Ridgeland/South Boulevard and will make a near side service stop before beginning northbound service. Northbound #86 buses will continue north on Ridgeland over the regular route.
 

#75 74th/75th Bus Stop Changes

Due to sewer construction work, the eastbound and westbound bus stops at 75th Street/Indiana, served by #75 74th/75th buses, will be temporarily removed from service until further notice.
 
Eastbound customers can board and exit #75 buses from the near side stops at 75th Street/Prairie or 75th Street/Michigan.
 
Westbound customers can board and exit #75 buses from the near side stops at 75th Street/Michigan or 75th Street/Prairie.
 

#24 Wentworth Buses Rerouted on Vincennes Avenue

Vincennes Avenue between 83rd Street and 84th Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic for bridge replacement work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Friday, September 18.
 
Northbound #24 buses will travel over the regular route to 87th Street/Vincennes then will operate northeast on Vincennes, Summit, Halsted, 81st Street to Vincennes and then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate the reverse route.
 

Westbound Lanes of Division Street Bridge Closed for Repairs

The westbound lanes of the Division Street Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River, between Halsted and Hooker, are closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Friday, September 18, due to repair work.
 
Westbound #70 Division buses will operate over the regular route along Division to Larrabee then will travel via Larrabee, Chicago, Milwaukee, Elston to Division and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 
Southbound #132 Goose Island Express buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted past Division to North Branch Street then will operate via North Branch, Cherry to Division and then resume the regular route. Northbound #132 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Sewer Repair Work Detours Three Routes Along 75th Street between King Drive and Indiana

Currently in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday, September 20, the intersection of 75th Street/King Drive as well as 75th Street between King Drive and Indiana, will be closed to all traffic due to sewer construction work.
 
Northbound #3 King Drive and #X3 King Drive Express buses will operate over their regular routes along King Drive to 76th Street then will travel via 76th Street, Michigan, 73rd Street to King Drive and then resume their regular routes.
 
Southbound #3 and #X3 buses will travel over their regular routes along King Drive to 73rd Street then will operate via 73rd Street, Indiana, 76th Street to King Drive and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #75 74th/75th buses will operate over the regular route along 75th Street to Indiana then will travel via Indiana, 76th Street, St. Lawrence to 75th and then resume the regular route.
 
Westbound #75 buses will travel over the regular route along 75th Street to Lawrence then will operate via Lawrence, 73rd Street, Indiana to 75th Street and then resume the regular route.

Currently in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, the following changes have been made to bus stops currently served by #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick and #74 Fullerton buses due to street reconstruction work near the Fullerton Red/Brown/Purple line station:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
  • Fullerton Avenue/CTA Station: the far side stop in front of the station house served by southbound #11 buses has been relocated to a mid-block stop on Sheffield between Montana and Fullerton.
  • Fullerton/Sheffield: the near side stop served by northbound #11 buses has been relocated to a mid-block stop on Sheffield between Fullerton and Montana.
 
#74 Fullerton
  • Fullerton Avenue/CTA Station: the far side stop in front of the station house served by eastbound #74 buses has been relocated to a near side stop on Fullerton at Sheffield.
  • Fullerton/Sheffield: the near side stop served by westbound #74 buses has been relocated to a far side stop.
 

Reroute for Northbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland Buses

Currently in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, September 28, northbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland buses will be detoured due to street repairs at the intersection of Montrose/Narragansett. As a result of this detour, northbound #86 buses will not make stops on the Wright College Campus.
 
Northbound #86 buses will travel over the regular route along Narragansett past Wright College Drive to Montrose where they will make a near side service stop. From Narragansett/Montrose, buses will continue north along Narragansett over the regular route. Southbound #86 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #8 Halsted Bus Stop

The southbound far side stop at Halsted/North Branch served by #8 Halsted buses temporarily will be relocated to a near side stop until Thursday, October 1. This bus stop is being relocated due to a traffic signal installation project.
 

Relocation of #62 Archer Bus Stop

Currently in effect until Friday, October 2, the northbound near side stop at Archer/Kildare served by #62 Archer buses will be relocated to a far side stop due to construction.
 

Temporary Change in Routing for #60 Blue Island/26th Buses

Currently in effect until 5 p.m. Friday, October 16, eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses only will travel to Randolph/Field, instead of Randolph/Harbor, before turning to begin westbound service. This change in routing is due to reconstruction of a nearby driveway. Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Bridge Reconstruction Work Detours Westbound #96 Lunt Buses

Currently in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, October 26, Touhy Avenue will be closed between Kedzie and McCormick due to bridge reconstruction work. 
 
Westbound #96 Lunt buses will travel over the regular route along Touhy to Kedzie then will operate via Kedzie, Howard to McCormick and then will resume the regular route south of Touhy. Eastbound #96 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 31, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale and Montrose.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, heading north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal.
 
Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

Northbound #24 Wentworth Buses Detoured Due to LaSalle Street Bridge Work

LaSalle Street between 28th and 26th streets will be closed to all traffic until early-January 2010, due to the reconstruction of the LaSalle Street Bridge. Northbound #24 Wentworth buses will operate over the regular route along LaSalle to 31st Street then will travel via 31st Street, State, 26th Street to Wentworth and then resume the regular route. Southbound #24 buses will travel over the regular route.
 
Changes to #24 Wentworth Bus Stops
Due to the reconstruction of the LaSalle Street Bridge, the following changes will be made to bus stops served by #24 Wentworth buses:
 
  • LaSalle/31st Street: the northbound far side stop will be relocated to a near side stop.
  • Wentworth/26th Street: the northbound near side stop will be relocated to a westbound near side stop at 26th Street/Wentworth.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #65 Grand Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses will be detoured to adjacent streets. These changes in service are expected to remain in place until April 2010.
 
Southbound #29 State buses will operate over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then will travel via Clark, Illinois to State and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #29 buses will be able to travel on the remaining open lane along State and will operate over its regular route. 
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along State to Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then will travel via Ohio to State and then resume the regular route.
 

14 CTA Bus Routes Affected Due to Jackson Viaduct Work

Due to the reconstruction of the Jackson Boulevard viaduct between Canal and Wacker, changes in service along 14 CTA bus routes are expected to remain in place until April 2010. The following CTA bus routes are being rerouted to adjacent streets:
