Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of September 1 - 3

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule on Labor Day, Monday, September 4.

Division Closes for Fiesta Boricua Beginning Saturday Night
Division will be closed between Western and Francisco from 11 p.m. Saturday, September 2 until 2 a.m. Monday, September 4. #70 Division buses will operate in both directions via Division, Kedzie, North, Western and Division, then resume the regular route.

Summer Service on Some CTA Bus Routes Ends Monday
Labor Day marks the end of summer service on some CTA bus routes.

Service on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry will return to operating on weekends and holidays only (except Christmas Day) however, from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day, the route will operate on weekdays as well as weekends and holidays.

#124 Navy Pier buses will resume operating from the Pier until 10:30 p.m. (instead of midnight) seven nights a week.

The #130 Grant Park Treasures route will cease operations until next spring. The CTA will continue to serve the lakefront daily via #12 Roosevelt buses operating east and west on Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan buses, which stop along Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River and State Street south of the river. Customers also can walk to the museums from the accessible Red, Green and Orange Line elevated stations at Roosevelt, or transfer to a #12 Roosevelt bus from the stations to complete their trips.

Additionally, service to three beaches will end on Monday, September 4. Buses on the #63 63rd will resume operating to the regular terminal at 63rd and Stony Island instead of 63rd Street beach.

On the #72 North, buses will resume operating to the regular terminal at North and Clark instead of North Avenue beach.

On the #78 Montrose, buses will resume operating to the regular terminal at Montrose and Marine instead of Montrose Avenue beach.

Single Track in Effect on Orange Line Thursday and Friday
A single track will be in effect between the Kedzie and Pulaski stations from 9 p.m. Thursday, August 31 until 4 a.m. Friday, September 1.

North and southbound customers boarding at the Kedzie station must board on the south side of the platform. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect on Orange Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between the Pulaski and Midway stations from 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 5 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, September 6 and again in the same location, during the same hours on Wednesday and Thursday nights. North and southbound customers boarding at the Pulaski station must board on the east side of the platform.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Single Track in Effect on Red Line Friday
A single track will be in effect between 45th and 63rd from 8 p.m. Friday, September 1 until 8 a.m. Saturday, September 2. North and southbound customers boarding at the 47th and Garfield stations must board on the east side of the platform.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 33rd and 45th from 11 p.m. Tuesday, September 5 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, September 6 and again in the same location, during the same hours Wednesday and Thursday nights. North and southbound customers boarding at the Sox-35th station must board on the east side of the platform.

Blue Line Signal Upgrade:
CTA is working to upgrade approximately 20 miles of the existing 40-year-old train control system and power supply equipment from the Forest Park terminal of the Blue Line Forest Park branch through the Dearborn subway to the Jefferson Park station of the Blue Line O'Hare branch.

These systems ensure the safe operation and movement of trains and the appropriate speed and distance between trains as well as help CTA personnel manage rail service in the event of an emergency.

The upgraded signal system will result in improved reliability of service for Blue Line customers, and also includes upgrades to the power cables and communication system needed to connect the Red Line State Street subway and Blue Line Dearborn Street subway.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch Thursday Night
A single track will be in effect between the Forest Park terminal and Lathrop from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, August 31 until 3:30 a.m. Friday, September 1.

North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park station must board on the north side of the platform.

Diversey Closes for Construction Next Week
Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, September 7, Diversey will be closed at Talman for construction for approximately five weeks. #76 Diversey buses will operate in both directions via Diversey to California, Logan Blvd., Western and Diversey, then resume the regular route.
