EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 8 – 10

Single Track in Effect on Red Line Overnight FridayDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 15th and 33rd Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Monday through Next ThursdaySingle track service will be in effect southbound between 87th and 95th Streets from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, October 11 and Tuesday night, October 12; and northbound in the same location Wednesday night, October 13 and Thursday night, October 14.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceDue to the Dan Ryan Red Line reconstruction, CTA trains are using by-pass tracks between 52nd and 56th Streets until late October.

CTA trains also are using by-pass tracks between 75th and 79th Streets until mid-November.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal stations.

Diversey Closed for Sewer Work Diversey is closed at Avers through Friday. #76 Diversey buses are operating in both directions via Diversey, Pulaski, Wrightwood, Central Park, back to Diversey, then resume the regular route.

Halsted Closes for Overnight Street Construction Halsted will be closed at Lake from 8 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. Friday and again from 8 p.m. Monday, October 11 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 12. Southbound #8 Halsted buses will operate via Halsted, Washington, Desplaines, Fulton, back to Halsted, then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will operate via Halsted, Fulton, Jefferson, Randolph, back to Halsted, then resume the regular route.

Adams Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Repairs FridayThe Adams bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday. Westbound #1 Indiana/Hyde Park, #X28 Stony Island Express and #151 Sheridan buses will operate via Adams, Wacker, Van Buren, Canal, Adams, Clinton, to Jackson, then resume the regular route.

Westbound #7 Harrison, #126 Jackson and #156 LaSalle buses will operate via Adams, Wacker, Van Buren, Canal, back to Adams, then resume the regular route. Eastbound service will not be affected.

Chicago Marathon Street Closures Begin FridayColumbus will be closed from Balbo to Roosevelt from 10 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. Additionally, Columbus will be closed from Balbo to Congress; and Balbo will be closed from Michigan to Lake Shore Drive from 10 a.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Sunday. Extra service will operate on six CTA rail lines during the race and additional service will be provided on the #3 King Drive and #126 Jackson bus routes. During the race, several bus routes may experience intermittent service delays or temporary reroutes.

Additional Service Provided for Soccer Game at Soldier Field Friday NightAdditional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus routes serving Soldier Field for an international soccer game between Chivas and Americas at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Additional service will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

Longer Purple Line Trains Provided for Northwestern Wildcats Football SaturdayThe Northwestern Wildcats host Indiana at 11 a.m. Saturday. Longer Purple Line trains will begin operating at 9 a.m. and after the game as crowds warrant. Ryan Field is just west of the Purple Line's Central station in Evanston.

Additional Service Provided for Navy Pier Fireworks on Saturday NightsAdditional buses will operate on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier bus routes for spectators attending the fall fireworks displays at Navy Pier at 9 p.m. Saturday nights through October 30. The last #124 bus leaves the pier at midnight. The last #29 and #66 buses leave the pier at 12:20 a.m.

Montrose Closes for Sewer Work Beginning WednesdayMontrose will be closed at Keystone from 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 13 through 3 p.m. Friday, October 15. #78 Montrose buses will operate in both directions via Montrose, Kimball, Irving Park, Elston, back to Montrose, then resume the regular route.
