EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 22 – 24

Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 47th and 63rd Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday and again in the same location northbound from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Monday through Next ThursdaySingle track service will be in effect northbound between 33rd and 15th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, October 25 and Tuesday night, October 26, and southbound in the same location Thursday night, October 28.

Single track service will be in effect southbound between 87th and 95th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday night October 27.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceCTA Red Line trains will discontinue using the set of by-pass tracks between 52nd and 56th Streets this weekend. Trains are expected to return to the main track.

CTA trains continue to use by-pass tracks between 75th and 79th Streets until early November.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal stations.

Garfield Closed for Metra Viaduct Construction until FridayGarfield is closed eastbound between Wentworth and State until 6 p.m. Friday, October 22. Eastbound #55 Garfield and #X55 Garfield Express buses are operating via Garfield, Wentworth, 51st, State, back to Garfield, then resuming the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Loop Streets Closed for Halloween Parade SaturdayA Halloween parade in the Loop will close State between Lake and Monroe; Monroe between State and Dearborn; and Dearborn between Monroe and Randolph from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The closures will affect the following bus routes: #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan. These buses will be rerouted to adjacent streets and CTA supervisors will be on hand to assist customers during the parade.

Cicero Closed for Sewer Work until MondayCicero is closed northbound between Adams and Madison until 5 p.m. Monday, October 25. Northbound #54 Cicero buses are operating via Cicero, Jackson, Laramie, Washington, back to Cicero, then resuming the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

59th Street Bridge over the Dan Ryan Closed Nightly for Construction until Monday MorningThe 59th Street bridge over the Dan Ryan is closed weeknights from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. through Monday, October 25. Westbound #59 59th buses will operate via 59th, Wentworth, 57th, Wells, back to 59th, then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses will operate via 59th, Wells, 63rd, Wentworth, back to 59th, then resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Navy Pier Fireworks on Saturday NightsAdditional buses will operate on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier bus routes for spectators attending the fall fireworks displays at Navy Pier at 9 p.m. Saturday nights through October 30. The last #124 bus leaves the pier at midnight. The last #29 and #66 buses leave the pier at 12:20 a.m.

Austin Closes for Railroad Crossing Construction Beginning MondayAustin will be closed between 59th and 60th Streets from 6 a.m. Monday, October 25 through Friday, October 29. #55A 55th/Austin buses will operate in both directions via 55th, Central, 63rd, back to Austin, then resume the regular route.

State Street Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Maintenance Beginning MondayThe State Street bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. weekdays from Monday, October 25 until Tuesday, November 2. Northbound #29 State buses will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Kinzie, back to State, then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via State, Kinzie, Clark, Wacker, back to State, then resume the regular route.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses will operate via State, Kinzie, Clark, Wacker, back to State, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.

Southbound #62 Archer buses will operate via Kinzie, State, Hubbard, Clark, Wacker, back to State, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.
