Chicago Marathon Street Closures Begin FridayColumbus will be closed in preparation for the Chicago Marathon beginning at 10 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. This closure will be in effect from Balbo to Roosevelt. Additionally, Columbus will be closed from Balbo to Congress; and Balbo will be closed from Michigan to Lake Shore Drive from 10 a.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Sunday. Extra service will operate on six CTA rail lines during the race and additional bus service will be provided on the #3 King Drive and #126 Jackson routes. During the race, several bus routes may experience intermittent delays or detours.
47th Street Closed at LaSalle for Viaduct Construction47th Street is closed at LaSalle for construction on a Metra viaduct until Tuesday, October 28. Eastbound #47 47th buses will operate via, Wentworth, 51st, State, back to 47th then resume the regular route. Westbound #47 buses will operate via State, 51st, LaSalle, back to 47th then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #43 43rd buses will operate via Wentworth, 51st, State, back to 43rd then resume the regular route. Westbound #43 buses will operate via State, 51st, Wentworth/LaSalle, Root, Wentworth, back to 43rd then resume the regular route.
Orleans Bridge Closed Intermittently for PaintingThe Orleans bridge over the Chicago River is closed for painting from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. until Wednesday, October 22. This closure will affect some northbound morning and afternoon rush period trips on the #37 Sedgwick/Ogden and #125 Water Tower Express bus routes. Affected trips will operate via Wacker, LaSalle, Hubbard, back to Orleans then resume the regular route.
115th Street Closed for Railroad Crossing Construction115th is closed at Marshfield for railroad crossing construction until Wednesday, October 15. Eastbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses will operate via 115th, Vincennes, 119th, Ashland, back to 115th then resume the regular route. Westbound #111 buses will operate via Marshfield, 119th, back to Vincennes then resume the regular route.
Central Closes for One Year Beginning FridayCentral will be closed between Bloomingdale and Palmer for viaduct rehabilitation beginning at 7 a.m. Friday, October 10 and lasting approximately one year. #85 Central buses will operate in both directions via North, Laramie, Grand, Lower Level of Central, Palmer, back to Central then resume the regular route.
54th/Cermak CTA Bus Terminal Closes for ConstructionThe 54th Avenue bus terminal will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday for construction. Westbound #21 Cermak, #X21 Cermak Express and #N60 (overnight) Blue Island/26th buses will operate via 56th Court, 21st Place, Central, Cermak to Cicero where they will terminate before making their eastbound trips on Cermak.
Filming Closes Lake Street Bridge MondayThe Lake Street bridge over the Chicago River will be closed for filming from6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday. Southbound #125 Water Tower Express buses will operate via Wacker, Randolph, back to Clinton then resume the regular route. Northbound #125 buses will operate via Washington, Wacker, back to Lake then resume the regular route. Green Line elevated service will not be affected by the closure.
Columbus Closes for Parade MondayColumbus will be closed between Roosevelt and Monroe for the Columbus Day Parade, Monday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #14 Jeffery Express, #28 Stony Island Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses that ordinarily operate on Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo will operate on Michigan Avenue between Roosevelt and Balbo during the parade.
Ashland Bridge Closes for One Year Beginning TuesdayThe Ashland Avenue bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed for a rehabilitation project beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 14 and lasting approximately one year. #9 Ashland and #168 UIC/Pilsen Express buses will operate in both directions via Archer, Loomis, Cermak, back to Ashland then resume the regular route.
69th Street Closed for Construction until Mid-NovemberOngoing construction has closed 69th Street between Wentworth and Halsted in both directions lasting until mid-November. #67 67th/69th/71st buses will operate eastbound via Halsted, Marquette, Lafayette, back to 69th then resume the regular route. Westbound #67 buses will operate via Lafayette, Vincennes, 71st, Wentworth, Marquette, Halsted, back to 69th then resume the regular route.
Damen Closed for Sewer Work Damen is closed for sewer main construction between Schiller and Potomac until Monday, October 20. #50 Damen buses will operate in both directions via Division, Western, North, back to Damen then resume the regular route.
43rd Street Closed for Metra Viaduct Work43rd Street is closed at LaSalle for construction on the Rock Island Metra viaduct until 5 p.m. Thursday, October 16. #43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Wentworth, 47th, State, back to 43rd then resume the regular route.
