Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25.
Thanksgiving Parade Reroutes CTA Buses ThursdayDue to the State Street Thanksgiving Parade, the CTA will detour 15 bus routes off State Street and adjacent downtown streets around the parade route Thursday, November 25. The parade will start at 8:30 a.m. and proceed north on State from Congress to Randolph.
State will be closed between Washington and Randolph from 12 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday; and from Roosevelt to Congress from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Additionally, all east and west streets between Roosevelt and Wacker will be closed where they cross State from 9 a.m. until noon. As a result, buses operating in the area of the parade will be detoured from early morning until 1 p.m.
The affected routes are the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #28 Stony Island Express, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan.
Michigan Avenue Closes for Helicopter Lift SaturdayA helicopter lift at 332 South Michigan will close Michigan between Jackson and Congress from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, November 27. CTA will detour to adjacent streets the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #14 Jeffery Express, #28 Stony Island Express, #126 Jackson and #145 Marine/Michigan Express bus routes for the duration of the lift.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Monday through Next ThursdayDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 87th and 94th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, November 29 and Tuesday night, November 30; and northbound in the same location Wednesday night, December 1 and Thursday night, December 2.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
