Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of November 24 - 27

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 24.

Thanksgiving Parade Reroutes CTA Buses Thursday
Due to the State Street Thanksgiving Parade, the CTA will detour 16 bus routes off State Street and adjacent downtown streets around the parade Thursday, November 24. The parade will start at 8:30 a.m. and proceed north on State from Congress to Randolph.

State will be closed on Thursday between Washington and Randolph from midnight until 1 p.m. and from Roosevelt to Congress from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Additionally, all east-west streets between Roosevelt and Wacker will be closed where they cross State from 8 a.m. until noon. As a result, buses operating in the area of the parade will be detoured from early morning until 1 p.m.

The affected routes are the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #22 Clark, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan. Edison Park Turkey Trot Reroutes Buses Thursday
Due to the Edison Park Turkey Trot, Northwest Highway will be closed from Devon to Overhill on Thursday, November 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. #68 Northwest Highway buses will be rerouted around the parade in both directions via Northwest Highway to Devon, Canfield, Ozark, back to Northwest Highway, then resume their regular route.

Holiday Train Brightens Blue Line Commute Over Weekend
The festive CTA Holiday Train will operate on the Blue Line between approximately 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 26 and Sunday, November 27. The train will make stops at all stations along the Blue Line. For more specific information on dates and times, call 836-7000 (any local area code) or visit the web site at www.transitchicago.com.

Lake Shore Drive Closes for Helicopter Lift Sunday
A helicopter lift at 1400 North Lake Shore Drive will close Inner Lake Shore Drive southbound between Banks and Burton Place on Sunday, November 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will operate via LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Outer Lake Shore Drive, Oak to Michigan, then resume their regular route.

Museum of Science & Industry Seasonal Service Begins
CTA's #10 Museum of Science & Industry, which normally operates year round on weekends and holidays only, will run special seasonal service from Thanksgiving Day until January 2. The seasonal service will provide more frequent bus service and operate on weekdays from Michigan/Delaware beginning at 8:55 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday service begins at 9:25 a.m. Buses operate every 15 to 30 minutes.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Beginning Next Week
Single track service will be in effect southbound between 63rd and 69th from 11 p.m. Monday, November 28 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, November 29; and northbound in the same location during the same hours, Wednesday night, November 30 and Thursday, December 1.

Single track service will be in effect southbound between Garfield and 63rd from 11 p.m. Thursday, December 1 until 4 a.m. Friday, December 2.
