Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of November 18 - 20

Ten CTA Bus Routes Detoured Off Michigan Avenue for Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Saturday
Ten CTA bus routes will be detoured off North Michigan Avenue Saturday, November 19, for the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

The bus routes affected by the parade are the #3 King Drive, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #151 Sheridan, and #173 University of Chicago/Lakeview Express. Affected buses will be detoured to streets adjacent to the parade route.

The festival motorcade parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. from Rush and Oak and will travel south on Michigan from Oak to Wacker.

Michigan Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions between Oak and Randolph starting at 4:30 p.m. and is expected to reopen at approximately 8 p.m. (See separate release for reroute details.)

Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Saturday
Due to track maintenance, single track service will be in effect southbound between Cumberland and Harlem from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 19.

Buses Return to Regular Route in Evanston Next Week
#200 Main Shuttle buses will return to their regular route at 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 23. Buses had been rerouted during construction of the new viaduct on Main Street. Construction of the new viaduct is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Brown Line Capacity Expansion:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Structural Maintenance Temporarily Closes Two Platforms Saturday
Structural maintenance will temporarily close the northbound platforms at the Diversey and Wellington stations on the Brown Line Saturday, November 19 from 4:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. As a result, northbound Brown Line trains will not stop at Diversey and Wellington.

Northbound customers who wish to exit at Wellington and Diversey will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to a southbound train back to the stations.

Northbound customers who wish to board at Wellington and Diversey will need to board a southbound train at these stations and exit at Fullerton to board a northbound train.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Structural Maintenance Temporarily Closes Southport Station Platform Sunday
Structural maintenance will temporarily close the northbound platform at Southport on Sunday, November 20 from 4 a.m. until noon. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at Southport. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Southport will need to travel to the Paulina station and transfer to a southbound train back to the station.

Northbound customers who wish to board at Southport will need to board a southbound train at that station and exit at Belmont to board a northbound train.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Friday
Single track service will be in effect southbound between 23rd and 45th from 8 p.m. Friday, November 18 until 8 a.m. Saturday, November 19.

Single Track in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend
Single track service will be in effect southbound between 69th and 87th from 8 p.m. Saturday, November 19 until noon Sunday, November 20.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
Late night single track service will be in effect northbound between 69th and 63rd from 11:30 p.m. Monday, November 21 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, November 22 and in the same location, during the same hours, Tuesday night, November 22 until Wednesday, November 23.

Late night single track service will be in effect southbound between 63rd and 69th from 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, November 23 until 4 a.m. Thursday, November 24.

Customers should allow extra travel time.
