Green Line – Events Affecting Service

Southbound Green Line Trains Temporarily Unable to Stop at the 43rd Street Station This Weekend

Southbound (to Cottage Grove or Ashland/63rd) Green Line trains will temporarily be unable to serve the 43rd Street station from 8 p.m. Saturday, November 12 until 3 a.m. Monday, November 14, due to crews performing station renewal work at the 43rd Street station.
 
During this time, Green Line customers traveling southbound (to Cottage Grove or Ashland/63rd) who want to exit at the 43rd Street station will need to travel to the 47th Street station and board a northbound (to Harlem/Lake) train back to the 43rd Street station.
 
Customers at the 43rd Street station who want to travel south (to Cottage Grove or Ashland/63rd) will need to board a northbound (to Harlem/Lake) train to the Indiana station and then transfer to a southbound (to Cottage Grove or Ashland/63rd) train.
 
Northbound (to Harlem/Lake) Green Line trains are unaffected during this time and will make stops at the 43rd Street station.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

Blue Line – Events Affecting Service

Boarding Changes on the Forest Park Branch This Weekend

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the eastbound (to O’Hare) tracks between the Jackson and Racine stations from 11 p.m. Friday, November 11 until 7 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10 p.m. Saturday, November 12 until 6 a.m. the following morning, due to plumbing repair work.
 
During these times, customers at the LaSalle, Clinton and UIC-Halsted stations traveling westbound (to Forest Park) must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Trains Operating on the Same Tracks at the Jefferson Park Station Next Week

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks at the Jefferson Park station from 10:30 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning on Sunday night, November 13 and then again Monday night, November 14, due to track maintenance work.
 
During these times, customers at the Jefferson Park station traveling northbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events at the United Center

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for those attending the following events at the United Center this weekend and next week:
 
  • Friday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. – Calgary Flames versus Blackhawks
  • Sunday, November 13 at 6 p.m. – Edmonton Oilers versus Blackhawks
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event. After each event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3 and will depart approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
Temporary Changes in Service for #19 Buses
Due to the closure of some downtown streets for Stage II of the Wacker Drive construction project, the following service changes are in effect along the #19 route:
 
Eastbound #19 buses are no longer being rerouted and have resumed traveling east on Washington over the regular route. The following changes have been made to bus stops served by eastbound buses:
 
  • Monroe/Canal: the temporary eastbound far side stop has been removed from service.
  • Washington/Canal: buses have resumed serving the eastbound near side stop.
  • Washington/Franklin: the eastbound near side stop has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
  • Washington/State: buses have resumed serving the eastbound far side stop.
 
Westbound #19 buses are being detoured and are traveling over the regular route along Madison to Franklin then operating via Franklin to Randolph and resuming the regular route. The following changes have been made to stops served by westbound buses:
 
  • Madison/Wacker: the westbound far side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Madison/Clinton: the westbound near side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Randolph/Wacker: buses are serving the westbound near side stop.
  • Randolph/Canal: buses are serving the westbound near side stop.
  • Randolph/Jefferson: buses are serving the new westbound near side stop.
 

CTA Provides Service for the Lions versus Bears Game this Sunday

Fans heading to the Detroit Lions versus Bears game on Sunday, November 13, will find the #128 Soldier Field Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses provide affordable and convenient travel options. Kickoff is at 3:15 p.m.
 
The #128 Soldier Field Express operates non-stop between the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Soldier Field. Service will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. After the game, buses will leave Soldier Field every few minutes for approximately one hour.
 
The cash fare for #128 buses is $1 for full-fare customers and 50 cents for reduced-fare customers. Exact fare is required. Customers who use CTA fare media on the #128 will be charged a regular CTA bus fare.
 
In addition, Red, Orange and Green line trains serve customers traveling to and from Soldier Field via the Roosevelt station a few blocks west of the stadium.
 
Buses Rerouted
In anticipation of heavy traffic along Roosevelt and Lake Shore Drive due to the football game at Soldier Field, the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express will be detoured from 1:30 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
 
Southbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Columbus to Lake Shore Drive then will operate via Lake Shore Drive, 18th Street to Museum Campus Drive and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Museum Campus Drive to Waldron then will operate via Waldron, Lake Shore Drive to Columbus and then resume the regular route.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

CORRECTION: Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Lake Park/53rd Street

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Lake Park/53rd Street has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction work. This stop is served by #6 Jackson Park Express, #X28 Stony Island Express and #171 U of C/Hyde Park buses.
 

Temporary Reroute in Effect for #24 Wentworth Buses Operating to 87th/Racine

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, #24 Wentworth buses operating to 87th/Racine are being detoured due to the closure of Vincennes Avenue between 84th Street and Givins for sewer repair work.
 
Southbound #24 buses (operating to 87th/Racine) are traveling over the regular route along Vincennes to 83rd Streert then are operating via 83rd Street, Princeton, Holland, 87th Street and are resuming the regular route west on 87th Street past Vincennes. Northbound #24 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Helicopter Lift Detours #126 Jackson and #151 Sheridan Buses Saturday Morning

From 8 a.m. until approximately 9 a.m. Saturday, November 12, eastbound #126 Jackson and northbound #151 Sheridan buses will be detoured due to the closure of Jackson Boulevard between LaSalle and Dearborn for a scheduled helicopter lift.
 
Eastbound #126 buses will operate over the regular route along Jackson to LaSalle then will travel via LaSalle, Monroe, State to Jackson and then resume the regular route. Westbound #126 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 
Northbound #151 buses will travel over the regular route along Jackson to LaSalle then will operate via LaSalle, Monroe to State and then resume the regular route. Southbound #151 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Railroad Crossing Repair Work Near Halsted/Archer Detours Two Routes

From 9 a.m. Monday, November 14 until approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, #8 Halsted and #62 Archer (Owl Service) buses will be detoured due to intermittent closures of Halsted near Archer for railroad crossing repair work.
 
Northbound #8 buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted to Archer then will operate via Archer, Canal, Cermak to Halsted and then resume the regular route. Southbound #8 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #62 (Owl Service) buses will operate over the regular route along Archer past Halsted to Canal then will travel via Canal, Cermak to Halsted and then resume the regular route. Southbound #62 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ongoing Bus Service Changes

Water Main Repair Work Detours Southbound #94 South California Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, November 12, southbound #94 South California buses are being detoured to the adjacent California Boulevard due to the closure of southbound California Avenue between 24th and 30th streets for a water main repair project.
 
Southbound #94 buses are traveling over the regular route along California Avenue to 24th Street then are operating via 24th Street, California Boulevard, 30th Street to California Avenue and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #94 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to #60 Blue Island/26th and #94 South California Bus Stops

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, November 12, due to a water main project along California Avenue between 24th and 30th streets, the following temporary changes have been made to bus stops along the #60 Blue Island/26th and #94 South California bus routes:
 
#60 Blue Island/26th
  • 26th Street/California Avenue: the eastbound near side stop has been eliminated. The westbound far side stop has been relocated 50 feet west.
 
#94 South California
  • California Avenue/24th Street: the southbound near side stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary near side stop at California Boulevard/24th Street.
  • California Avenue/25th Street: the southbound near side stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary near side stop at California Boulevard/25th Street.
  • California Avenue/26th Street: the southbound near side stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary near side stop at California Boulevard/26th Street.
  • California Avenue at Court House Entrance: the southbound mid-block stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary mid-block stop on California Boulevard north of the crosswalk between the parking garage and court house entrance.
  • 2800 S. California Avenue: the southbound mid-block stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary mid-block stop located at 2800 S. California Boulevard.
  • 2900 S. California Avenue: the southbound mid-block stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary mid-block stop located at 2900 S. California Boulevard.
 

#8A South Halsted Buses Detoured Due to a Viaduct Construction Project

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, #8A South Halsted buses are being detoured due to a viaduct construction project along Halsted Street between 85th and 87th streets.
 
Southbound #8A buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted to 85th Street/Summit then are operating via Summit, 87th Street to Halsted and then resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #8A buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted to Vincennes then are operating via Vincennes, Summit to Halsted and then resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stop at Stony Island/83rd Street

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, November 18, the northbound near side stop at Stony Island/83rd Street has been temporarily removed from service due to a water management construction project. This stop is served by #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
 

Temporary Reroute of Northbound #147 Buses Due to Construction on Congress

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Friday, November 18, northbound #147 Outer Drive Express buses are being detoured due to lane configuration for construction on Congress near State Street. As a result of the lane configuration, northbound #147 buses traveling west on Congress are unable to make right turns onto State Street.
 
Northbound #147 buses are instead operating along Congress past State to Dearborn then are traveling via Dearborn, Jackson to State and resuming the regular route. Southbound #147 buses are unaffected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Detour of #111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses for Bridge Repairs Extended

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are being detoured from Cottage Grove between 98th Street and 100th Place due to bridge repair work.
 
Southbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 95th Street to King Drive then operating via King Drive, 100th Street to Cottage Grove and resuming the regular route. Northbound #111 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Construction Detours #20 Madison and #90 Harlem Buses Until December

Currently in effect until Friday, December 2, eastbound #20 Madison (Owl service) buses and #90 Harlem buses are being detoured due to the closure of North Boulevard and South Boulevard between Marion and Home for a construction project.
 
Eastbound #20 (Owl service) buses are operating over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are traveling via Washington, Maple, Randolph, Harlem to Lake and resuming the regular route. Westbound #20 (Owl service) buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
Southbound #90 buses are traveling over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are operating via Washington, Maple, Randolph, Harlem to Harlem/South Boulevard before beginning northbound service. From Harlem/South Boulevard, northbound #90 buses are traveling north on Harlem over the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #8 Halsted Bus Stop Due to Bridge Work

Currently in effect until Thursday, December 22, the southbound far side stop at Halsted/North Branch served by #8 Halsted buses has been relocated to a near side stop on North Branch at Halsted. The new temporary location is also served by #132 Goose Island Express buses.
 

Changes in Service along #8 Halsted Route for Bridge Reconstruction Project

Currently in effect until late-December 2011, Halsted Street between Division and the north branch of the Chicago River is closed due to a bridge reconstruction project.
 
Northbound #8 Halsted buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted past Chicago to North Branch then are operating via North Branch, Cherry, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Changes to Bus Stops
  • Halsted/North Branch: the northbound far side stop on Halsted has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop on North Branch at Halsted.
  • Halsted/Division: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop.
 

Temporary Bus Stop Changes due to Madison Street Viaduct Project

Currently in effect until approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, December 31, the following bus stop changes are in effect due to the Madison Street viaduct project. These changes are affecting service along seven routes.
 
  • Canal/Madison: the northbound far side stop will be removed from service. This stop is served by #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier, #125 Water Tower Express, #129 West Loop/South Loop (PM service only), #130 Museum Campus, #132 Goose Island Express and #157 Streeterville/Taylor buses.
  • Canal/Washington: a temporary northbound near side stop will be added. This stop will be served by #132 buses.
 

Service Changes to 14 Downtown Bus Routes for Stage II of Wacker Drive Project

Currently in effect, changes in service have been made to 14 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Wacker Drive and Madison due to work associated with Stage II of the Wacker Drive construction project.
 
Construction on Wacker Drive will result in changes along the following routes:

#121 Union/Wacker Express
#14 Jeffery Express
#122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express
#19 United Center Express
#123 Illinois Center/Union Express

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 

Relocation of #36 Broadway Bus Stop Due to Nearby Construction

Currently in effect until Friday, July 12, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Broadway/Elmdale served by #36 Broadway buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Removal of Bus Stop Change Affects Five Routes

Currently in effect until Thursday, August 1, 2013, the mid-block bus stop located at 5800 South on Stony Island has been temporarily removed due to construction. This stop is served by the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island buses.
