Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of November 11 - 13

Bus Service Provided for Purple Line Customers Affected by Temporary Weekend Closure
Bus service will be provided for customers affected by the temporary weekend closure of the Purple Line from Linden to Howard starting at 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13 while a new steel viaduct is placed on Main Street. Regular Purple Line service will resume Monday, November 14 at 4 a.m.

A Purple Line shuttle bus (accessible) will operate in both directions in place of regular rail service from 7:45 p.m. Friday, November 11 until 1:20 a.m. Monday, November 14. Buses will make stops at or near all Purple Line stations traveling southbound from Linden terminal in Wilmette to Howard terminal in Chicago, via Linden, Central, Noyes/Ridge, Foster, Sherman/Davis (southbound), Davis/Orrington (northbound), Dempster/Chicago, Main/Chicago, South Boulevard/Chicago, to Howard, where northbound trips will begin back to Wilmette.

CTA is replacing the existing concrete viaduct with a new steel structure that will be rolled into place over the weekend. The new Main Street viaduct will eliminate the need for a slow zone along that expanse of track thereby improving travel time for Purple Line customers.

Late Night Single Track in Effect in Blue Line Subway Beginning Friday
Due to subway cleaning, single track service will be in effect northbound between Grand and Damen from midnight to 4:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12 and southbound in the same location, during the same hours, Saturday, November 12 until Sunday, November 13.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Sunday
Due to track maintenance, single track service will be in effect northbound between Jefferson Park and Foster from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. from Sunday night, November 13 until Monday, November 14.

Single track service will be in effect southbound in the same location, during the same hours, Monday, November 14 until Tuesday, November 15.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
Due to track maintenance, single track service will be in effect southbound between Montrose and Addison from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night from Tuesday, November 15 through Thursday, November 17.

Brown Line Capacity Expansion:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Structural Maintenance Temporarily Closes Southport Station Platform Sunday
Structural maintenance will temporarily close the southbound platform at Southport from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, November 13. As a result, southbound trains will run express from Paulina to Belmont and will not stop at Southport. Southbound customers who wish to exit at Southport will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to a northbound train back to the station.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Single Track in Effect on Red Line Friday
Single track service will be in effect northbound between 45th and 33rd from 8 p.m. Friday, November 11 until 8 a.m. Saturday, November 12.

Red Line Rehabilitation Temporarily Closes Northbound Sox-35th Station Platform Saturday
The northbound Sox-35th station platform will temporarily close from 8 a.m. Saturday, November 12 until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 13. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at Sox-35th. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Sox-35th will need to travel to the Cermak/Chinatown station and transfer to a southbound train back to the station.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
Single track service will be in effect northbound between 79th and 69th from 11 p.m. Monday, November 14 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, and southbound in the same location, during the same hours, Wednesday, November 16 to Thursday, November 17.
