Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of May 6 - 8

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to track maintenance on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 33rd and 45th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, May 6 until 8 a.m. Saturday, May 7 and again northbound between 63rd and 45th Streets from 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7 until noon Sunday, May 8.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekSingle track service will be in effect northbound between 87th and 79th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Tuesday night, May 10. Single track service also will be in effect during those same hours northbound between 63rd and 55th Streets Wednesday night, May 11 and southbound in the same location Thursday night, May 12.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Brown Line Friday and SaturdayDue to track maintenance on the Brown Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between Albany and Western from 9 p.m. Friday, May 6 until 9 a.m. Saturday, May 7 and again from 9 p.m. Saturday, May 7 until 9 a.m. Sunday, May 8.

Sacramento, Francisco and Rockwell Streets Temporarily Close for Brown Line WorkAs part of the capacity expansion work on the Brown Line, Sacramento, Francisco and Rockwell Streets will be temporarily closed between Leland and Eastwood from 9 p.m. Friday, May 6 until 9 a.m. Saturday, May 7 and again from 9 p.m. Saturday, May 7 until 9 a.m. Sunday, May 8. These temporary street closures will not affect CTA service.

Weekend Single Track in Effect on the Lake Street Branch of the Green LineSingle track service will be in effect on the Lake Street branch of the Green Line westbound between Laramie and Austin from 10 p.m. Friday, May 6 until 5 a.m. Saturday, May 7 and again from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8. Customers may experience minimal travel delays and should allow extra travel time.

Wells and Wentworth Close for Repairs Beginning Friday NightWells and Wentworth will be closed between 51st and 59th Streets from 9 p.m. Friday, May 6 until 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7. Southbound #59 59th buses will operate via Wells, 51st, State, 59th, back to Wells, then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will operate via Wentworth, 59th, State, 51st, back to Wentworth, then resume the regular route.

Polish Constitution Day Parade will Detour Downtown Bus Routes SaturdayThe Polish Constitution Day Parade will close Columbus between Roosevelt and Monroe from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. proceeding north on Columbus from Balbo to Monroe.

#6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses that ordinarily operate via Columbus and Balbo will be rerouted in both directions to operate via Roosevelt and Michigan during the parade.

Dearborn Closes for Crane Removal SundayDue to the removal of a tower crane, Dearborn will be closed between Monroe and Madison from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 8. Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will operate via Dearborn, Monroe, State, Madison, back to Dearborn, then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.

Race Closes Downtown Streets and May Cause Service Delays SundayThe Y-Me Race Against Breast Cancer will close several downtown streets from 4 a.m. until noon Sunday, May 8. The closures are: Columbus from Congress to Roosevelt; Balbo from Michigan to Lake Shore Drive; westbound Roosevelt from Columbus to Michigan; northbound Michigan from Roosevelt to Balbo; Jackson from Michigan to Lake Shore Drive; Monroe from Michigan to Lake Shore Drive and Randolph from Columbus to Lake Shore Drive.

Buses on the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #60 Blue Island/26th, #130 Grant Park Treasures, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and #147 Outer Drive Express routes may experience intermittent service delays and may be rerouted to adjacent streets during the race.

Helicopter Lift Closes Illinois and St. Clair Streets Sunday MorningA helicopter lift at 161 East Grand will close Upper Illinois between Michigan and Columbus; Lower Illinois between Lower Michigan and Columbus; and St. Clair between Grand and Lower Illinois from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday, May 8. Eastbound #29 State and #65 Grand buses will operate via State, Ohio, Fairbanks, to Illinois, then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.

Cinco de Mayo Parade Closes Cermak SundayCermak will be closed between Ashland and Marshall Boulevard from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8. #21 Cermak buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Kedzie, 26th, Blue Island, back to Cermak, then resume the regular route.

#50 Damen buses will operate in both directions via Damen, 18th, Ashland, Blue Island, back to Damen, then resume the regular route.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Three Northbound Red Line Platforms Beginning SundayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Sunday, May 8 through Thursday, May 12. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at the Bryn Mawr, Thorndale and Granville stations. During these hours, customers wishing to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Loyola station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations. Customers may experience minimal travel delays and should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line Beginning MondayDue to track maintenance on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line, single track service will be in effect eastbound between Harlem and Forest Park from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10.

Washington Bridge over the Chicago River Closed for Repairs The Washington bridge over the Chicago River is closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. weekdays until Tuesday, May 17. The closures are affecting eastbound buses on the #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island, #124 Navy Pier, #127 NW/Madison and #157 Streeterville routes.

63rd Street Closed for CSX Railroad Viaduct Repairs 63rd Street is closed westbound only between Damen and Western from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. weekdays until Friday, June 24. Westbound #63 63rd buses are operating via 63rd, Damen, 59th, Western, back to 63rd, then resuming the regular route. Eastbound service is not affected.

Jeffery Avenue Closed for Sewer Construction Jeffery Avenue is closed between 87th and 93rd Streets through July 15. #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses are operating in both directions via Jeffery, 93rd, Stony Island, 87th, back to Jeffery, then resuming the regular route.

Lake Red Line Subway Entrance Temporarily Closed for RenovationsThe Lake Street station entrance to the Red Line is temporarily closed and is only available as an exit during all hours until late summer. Customers are encouraged to use the adjacent Red Line subway station entrance at Washington.

Trains continue to stop at the Lake Street subway station during all hours.Customers wishing to exit at the north end of the Lake station should walk north and use the newly renovated stairway. They also may enter and exit at the Randolph/Washington exit at the south end of the station.
