Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of May 28-30

Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect between the Jefferson Park and Montrose Stations

Southbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Jefferson Park and Montrose stations on the O’Hare branch from 10 p.m. Friday, May 28 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to maintenance and repair work. 
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Next Week – Northbound
From 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, June 1 through Friday morning, June 4, a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Montrose and Jefferson Park stations as maintenance and repair work continues.
 
During these times, northbound Blue Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect at the North/Clybourn Station

Southbound Red Line trains will undergo a late night single track at the North/Clybourn station from 11 p.m. Friday, May 28 until 5 a.m. the following morning, due to station refurbishment work.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Next Week
From 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, June 1 through Friday morning, June 4, a single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains at the North/Clybourn station as station refurbishment work continues.
 
During these times, southbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Summer Bus Services

Summer in the City – CTA Provides Service to Area Beaches

CTA provides weekend and holiday service to area beaches on the #63 63rd, #72 North and the #78 Montrose bus routes this summer beginning Saturday, May 29 through Labor Day, Monday, September 6.
 
During the summer service schedule, the extended service only will be available during the hours beaches are open. Hours of operation for Chicago beaches vary. The bus routes will travel to their regular terminals when the beaches are closed.

Summer Bus Schedule for the Museum of Science & Industry begins Saturday

The CTA is providing additional weekend and weekday service on its #10 Museum of Science & Industry bus route to accommodate expanded museum hours, beginning Saturday, May 29 through Labor Day, Monday, September 6. During this time, the museum is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
 
Buses will operate approximately every 20 minutes on weekdays and weekends beginning Memorial Day – Monday, May 31.
 

#124 Navy Pier Bus Route Hours Extended beginning Saturday

Bus service along the #124 Navy Pier route, between downtown and Navy Pier will operate 90 minutes longer in each direction beginning Friday, May 28 until Labor Day, Monday, September 6. Buses will operate until 11:30 p.m. from Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center, and until midnight from Navy Pier.
 

Service along the #130 Museum Campus Route Begins this Weekend

Effective Saturday, May 29, summer service begins along the #130 Museum Campus bus route. From 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., #130 buses will operate in both directions between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to the Museum Campus on weekdays, weekends and holidays through Labor Day, Monday, September 6. 
 

Service for Upcoming Events

Here Come the Hawks! Take CTA to the Stanley Cup Finals at the United Center

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for fans attending the Stanley Cup Finals at the United Center between the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks on the following dates and times:
 
  • Game 1 – Saturday, May 29 at 7 p.m.
  • Game 2 – Monday, May 31 at 7 p.m.
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event until the event begins. When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
#19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After each game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Friday Daytime Reroute for #63 63rd Buses Due to Viaduct Repairs

From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, May 28, 63rd Street between Hamilton and Bell will be closed to all traffic due to repairs being made to the viaduct at 2200 W. 63rd Street.
 
During this time, westbound #63 63rd buses will travel over the regular route along 63rd Street to Damen then will operate via Damen, 67th Street, Western to 63rd Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #63 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at LaSalle/Madison

Currently in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, the northbound near side stop at LaSalle/Madison has been relocated to a far side stop due to sidewalk construction work. This stop is served by #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express and #156 LaSalle.
 

#2 Hyde Park Express and #15 Jeffery Local Buses Temporarily Rerouted

Currently in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, Hyde Park Boulevard between Drexel and Woodlawn is closed to all traffic. As a result, #2 Hyde Park Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses are being rerouted.
 
Northbound #2 Hyde Park Express – AM Rush Period Only
During the morning rush period only, northbound #2 buses are operating over the regular route along Drexel past Hyde Park to 47th Street then are traveling via 47th Street, Woodlawn to Hyde Park and resuming the regular route. Southbound #2 buses are not affected during the morning rush period and are traveling over the regular route.
 
Southbound #2 Hyde Park Express – PM Rush Period Only
During the evening rush period only, southbound #2 buses are operating over the regular route along Hyde Park to Woodlawn then are traveling via Woodlawn, 47th Street to Drexel and then resuming the regular route south along Drexel. Northbound #2 buses are not affected during the evening rush period and are traveling over the regular route.
 
#15 Jeffery Local – All Hours of Operation
Northbound #15 buses are traveling over the regular route along Hyde Park to Woodlawn then are operating via Woodlawn, 47th Street, Drexel to Hyde Park and resuming the regular route. Southbound #15 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Soldier Field 10 Mile Race Detours Buses Serving the Museum Campus

From 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29, Museum Campus Drive from Waldron to McFetridge and Solidarity Drive will be closed to all traffic for the Soldier Field 10 Mile Race. Due to these closures, southbound #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be unable to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive.
 
Southbound #130 and #146 buses instead will operate over their regular routes along Columbus, east on McFetridge for end of route on the south side of the Field Museum. Northbound #130 and #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

Memorial Day Parade Closes Downtown Streets Saturday

State Street and all cross streets from Wacker Drive to Van Buren will be closed from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday May 29, for the Memorial Day Parade. The parade steps off at noon.
 
Buses on the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #130 Museum Campus, #145 Wilson/ Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan will experience intermittent service delays and will be rerouted to adjacent streets during the parade. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.  
 

Lake Shore Drive Closes for the Annual Bike the Drive on Sunday

On Sunday, May 30 from 4 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Lake Shore Drive between Bryn Mawr and 57th Street will be closed for the annual Bike the Drive. CTA will share a tent with Pace Bus and will have personnel on hand to demonstrate how to properly secure a bike on a CTA bus bike rack.
 
The ride begins and ends in Grant Park at Columbus and Jackson. Several CTA bus routes will be rerouted during the event.
 
#6 Jackson Park Express
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate over the regular route along Lake Park Avenue to 47th Street then will travel via 47th Street, King Drive, Cermak, Michigan and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
#10 Museum of Science & Industry 
Southbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan past Balbo to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, King Drive, 47th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Stony Island, 57th Street, Cornell to the west parking lot of the museum for end of route. Northbound #10 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
#14 Jeffery Express
Northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over the regular route along Jeffery Boulevard to 67th Street then will travel via 67th Street, King Drive, Cermak to Michigan and then resume the regular along Michigan past Balbo. 
 
Southbound #14 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan past Balbo to 47th Street then will operate via 47th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Stony Island, 67th Street to Jeffery and then resume the regular route.
 
#55 Garfield 
Eastbound #55 Garfield buses will operate over the regular route along Garfield to Lake Park then will travel via Lake Park to 47th Street for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #55 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
#81 Lawrence 
Eastbound #81 Lawrence buses will travel over the regular route along Lawrence to Clarendon then will operate via Clarendon, Wilson to Marine for end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #81 buses will operate north on Marine to Lawrence and then resume the regular route. 
 
#84 Peterson 
Eastbound #84 Peterson buses will travel over the regular route along Bryn Mawr to Sheridan then will operate Sheridan, Foster, Broadway, Berwyn, Sheridan to Bryn Mawr for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #84 buses will travel west on Bryn Mawr over the regular route. 
 
#145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express 
Southbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate over their regular routes along Lake Shore Drive past Melrose to Inner Lake Shore Drive and then will travel via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive to Oak and then resume their regular routes south along Michigan. Northbound #145 and #146 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
#147 Outer Drive Express 
Southbound #147 Outer Drive Express buses will travel over the regular route along Foster to Marine then will operate via Marine, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Cannon, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive to Oak and then resume the regular route south along Michigan. Northbound #147 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Daytime Reroute Next Week Due to Maintenance Work on the State Street Bridge

The State Street Bridge over the main branch of the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, June 1 through Thursday, June 3, due to maintenance work. During these times, #29 State, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will be detoured.
 
Northbound #29 State buses will travel over the regular route along State to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, Dearborn, Kinzie to State and then resume the regular route. Southbound #29 buses will operate via State, Kinzie, Clark, Wacker to State and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along State to Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to State and then will resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 
Northbound #62 Archer buses will operate over the regular route to Kinzie/State before turning to begin southbound service. Southbound #62 buses will travel along State to Hubbard then will operate via Hubbard, Clark, Wacker to State and then resume the regular route.
 

Annual Ridge Run Detours #103 West 103rd and #112 Vincennes/111th Buses on Monday

On Monday, May 31 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. 103rd Street at Longwood and 111th Street at Longwood will be closed to all traffic due to the 33rd Annual Ridge Run.
 
Westbound #103 West 103rd buses will travel over the regular route along 103rd Street to Beverly then will operate via Beverly, 95th Street, Western to 103rd Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #103 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Westbound #112 Vincennes/111th buses will operate over the regular route along Vincennes past 111th Street to 119th Street then will travel via 119th Street, Western to 111th Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #111 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Changes to Bus Stops Effective Tuesday Morning

Effective at the start of service on Tuesday, June 1, the following bus stop changes will go into effect:
 
#12 Roosevelt
  • Roosevelt/Cicero: the eastbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • 4615 W. Roosevelt: the eastbound mid-block stop will be removed from service. Customers may board and exit eastbound #12 buses from either Roosevelt/47th Avenue or Roosevelt/Kolmar.
  • Roosevelt/Keeler: the eastbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
#95E 93rd/95th
  • 91st Street/Buffalo: eastbound #95E buses will begin serving the near side stop. This stop is currently served by #26 South Shore Express and #30South Chicago buses.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Bridge Closure Temporarily Reroutes Two CTA Bus Routes

The Ewing Street Bridge over the Calumet River at 3331 East 92nd Street is closed to all traffic for bridge repairs until Monday, May 31. As a result, #26 South Shore Express and #30 South Chicago buses are undergoing a temporary reroute.
 
Southbound #26 and #30 buses are traveling over the regular route to 91st Street/Mackinaw then operating via Mackinaw, Harbor, South Chicago, 95th Street to Ewing and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound buses are traveling over the regular route to Ewing/95th Street then operating via 95th Street, South Chicago, Harbor, Mackinaw to 91st Street and resuming the regular route.
 

#76 Diversey Buses Temporarily Detoured from Entering the Diversey/Neva Terminal

Currently in effect until 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, westbound #76 Diversey buses are unable to enter the CTA bus terminal at Diversey/Neva due to driveway reconstruction work.
 
Westbound #76 buses are traveling over the regular route along Diversey past Neva to Harlem then operating via Harlem, Belmont, Octavia (through the bus terminal) then traveling east on Belmont to Harlem, Diversey to Neva for the end of route and start of eastbound service. Eastbound #76 buses are traveling over the regular route.
 

Sewer Construction Work Temporarily Detours #78 Montrose Buses

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, June 4, Montrose Avenue between Paulina and Greenview is closed to all traffic due to a sewer construction project.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses are traveling over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then operating via Damen, Wilson and then resuming the regular route east on Wilson past Clark. Westbound #78 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

#36 Broadway Bus Stop at Broadway/Wilson Temporarily Relocated

Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 16, the southbound far side stop at Broadway/Wilson served by #36 Broadway buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop due to sidewalk construction work.
 

#49A South Western Bus Stop at Western/York Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Thursday, June 17, the southbound near side stop at Western/York served by #49A South Western buses temporarily has been eliminated due to nearby construction.
 

#72 Bus Stop at North/Clybourn Red Line Station Temporarily Relocated Due to Construction

Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 30, the eastbound mid-block stop in front of the station that is served by #72 North Avenue buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop at the intersection of North/Clybourn. The relocation is due to construction at the North/Clybourn Red Line station.
 
In addition, #72 buses now are serving the temporary far side stop at the North Avenue/Halsted intersection.
 

#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses temporarily have been removed from service due to rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
 

Temporary Elimination of Bus Stop at Michigan/Delaware

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the southbound near side stop at Michigan/Delaware temporarily has been removed from service due to sidewalk reconstruction work.
 
This stop is served by #33 Mag Mile Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #148 Clarendon/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 
Customers may board and exit these buses from the near side stop at Michigan/Pearson.
 

#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroutes Due to Bridge Repair Work

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work.
 
Southbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
 
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses temporarily has been removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses at either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 30, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Jeffery/75th Street

Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound far side bus stop at Jeffery/75th Street temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop due to nearby sidewalk construction. This stop is served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses.
 

#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop at Milwaukee/Diversey Temporarily Relocated

Until further notice, the southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Diversey served by #56 Milwaukee buses temporarily has been relocated to a far side stop.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 State buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster

Currently in effect until further notice, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster temporarily has been removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, several streets in the downtown area have been closed or reconfigured until Monday, April 2, 2012. As a result of these closures and reconfigurations, the following changes in service along three CTA bus routes currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only. As a result, the southbound near side bus stop at Van Buren/Canal served by #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses has been relocated to a far side stop. 
 
#121 Union Wacker Express
Lower Wacker Drive between Harrison and Randolph is closed to all traffic due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project. During this time #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are being detoured to adjacent streets.
 
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses will operate over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then travel via Upper Wacker to Adams and resume the regular route west on Adams.
 
#124 Navy Pier
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only.
 
Westbound #124 Navy Pier buses are traveling over the regular route along Clinton past Van Buren to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Canal and resuming the regular route north on Canal. Eastbound #124 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
