5/25/06

Note: All CTA service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect Thursday
Single track service will be in effect between 69th and 79th from 11 p.m. Thursday, May 25 until 4 a.m. Friday, May 26.

Temporary Closure of 95th, 87th, 79th and 69th Street Red Line Stations This Weekend
Service on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line from 95th to 69th station will be temporarily suspended in both directions this weekend from midnight Friday, May 26 until mid-day Monday, May 29.

CTA will operate bus shuttle service for customers as a substitute for rail service. Bus shuttle service will stop at all impacted stations ? 95th, 87th, 79th, 69th and 63rd stations, and normal Red Line service will operate in both directions between 63rd and Howard stations.

Bus shuttle service will operate on the same schedule as rail service would normally operate during the same time period.

Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Throughout the Brown Line construction project, slow zones and single track operation are periodically necessary near construction activity so, as a general rule, rail customers should allow extra travel time.

Kimball and Francisco Stations to Remain Open This Weekend
Both the Kimball and Francisco stations on the Brown Line will remain open this weekend. The Kedzie and Rockwell stations closed on February 20 for reconstruction and will remain closed for six months. Rail customers may go to the next closest station for Brown Line service, or choose from eight neighborhood CTA bus routes to meet their transit service needs.
