EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF MAY 21 - 23

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Friday Through Next Thursday Due to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 55th and 35th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday and southbound in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Single track service also will be in effect northbound between 94th and 87th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights, May 24 - 25 and northbound between 87th and 79th Streets Wednesday and Thursday nights, May 26 - 27.

Customers should allow additional travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceDue to the Dan Ryan Red Line construction, CTA trains will begin using by-pass tracks between 45th and 43rd Streets northbound on Friday and southbound on Saturday.

By-pass tracks are in place between 69th and 71st Streets until early June.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal station locations.

Helicopter Lift Closes Streets Saturday Morning A helicopter lift at the Palmolive Building at 919 North Michigan will close Michigan between Oak and East Lake Shore Drive, and Walton between Rush and Mies van der Rohe from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday. Buses on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes will operate on adjacent streets for the duration of the lift.

Jackson Closes for Construction on SaturdayThe ongoing work on CTA tracks will close Jackson between Ogden and Paulina from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday. Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will operate via Jackson, Wood, Monroe, Paulina, back to Jackson then resume the regular route.

10K Run/Walk Closes Columbus and Roosevelt Sunday MorningThe Main Course 10K Run/Walk will close Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo, and Roosevelt between Columbus and Lake Shore Drive from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday. #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses that ordinarily operate on Columbus will operate in both directions via Lake Shore Drive, Balbo, Michigan then resume the regular route.

Race in Pilsen Neighborhood May Cause Intermittent Service Delays SundayThe Alivio Y Salud Run for Health will take place in the Pilsen neighborhood from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday. The runners will assemble on 18th between Wolcott and Wood and proceed east on 18th to Ashland, south to Cermak, west to Blue Island, southwest to Claremont, north to 25th, east to Oakley, north to Cermak, east to Wolcott and north to the finish line in Harrison Park. Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will be rerouted via Damen, Cermak, Ashland, back to 18th then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected. Other routes that may experience delays during the event are #9 Ashland, #21 Cermak, #X21 Cermak Express, #50 Damen and #60 Blue Island/26th.

111th Street Closes for Railroad Crossing Construction Beginning Monday111th Street will be closed at Rockwell from 7 a.m. Monday until 5 p.m. Friday, May 28. #112 Vincennes/111th buses will operate in both directions via Western, 115th, Kedzie, back to 111th then resume the regular route.

43rd Street Closes for Metra Viaduct Construction Beginning Monday43rd Street will be closed between State and LaSalle from 7 a.m. Monday until5 p.m. Saturday, May 29. Eastbound #43 43rd buses will operate via 47th, LaSalle, State, back to 43rd then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate via 43rd, State, 47th, Princeton, back to 43rd then resume the regular route.

51st Street Closes for Metra Viaduct Construction Beginning Monday51st Street will be closed between State and LaSalle from 7 a.m. Monday until5 p.m. Saturday. Northbound #15 Jeffery Local buses will operate via 51st, State, to the 47th Street Red Line station. Southbound buses will leave the station and operate via 51st, Wentworth, 47th, State, back to 51st then resume the regular route.

Halsted Bridge Closes for Repairs Beginning MondayThe Halsted bridge over the Chicago River North Branch will be closed from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily Monday through Thursday, May 27. Northbound #8 Halsted buses will operate via Chicago, Milwaukee, Division, back to Halsted then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.

71st Street Closes for Railroad Crossing Construction on Tuesday71st Street will be closed at Central Park from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday. #67 67th/69th/71st buses will operate in both directions via Kedzie, Columbus, 79th, Pulaski, back to 71st then resume the regular route.

Cortland Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Cleaning TuesdayThe Cortland Street bridge over the Chicago River North Branch will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. #73 Armitage buses will operate in both directions via Elston, Ashland, Webster, Clybourn, back to Racine then resume the regular route.
