Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Next Week
From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 and then again during the same hours on Wednesday, April 1, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Trains Between LaSalle and Grand

Due to signal repair work, a late night single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains operating between the LaSalle and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Friday, March 27 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board and exit from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Saturday Night – Southbound
From 10 p.m. Saturday, March 28 until 7 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains operating between the Grand and LaSalle stations.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track for Red Line Trains between Grand and Roosevelt

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains operating between the Grand and Roosevelt stations from 10 p.m. Sunday, March 29 until 4 a.m. the following morning due to sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Roosevelt stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Next Week
Sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel continues next week from 11 p.m. each night until
4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, March 30 through Thursday morning, April 2, resulting in a single track for southbound Red Line trains between the Grand and Roosevelt stations.
 
During these times, southbound Red Line customers at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Roosevelt stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Additional Service for Special Events

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:
 
  • Friday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. – New Jersey Devils versus Blackhawks
  • Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. – Indiana Pacers versus Bulls
  • Sunday, March 29 at 6 p.m. – Vancouver Canucks versus Blackhawks
  • Wednesday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. – St. Louis Blues versus Blackhawks
 
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the event until the starting time of the event. When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
#19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After the event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Reroutes Conclude with Re-opening of Harrison between Paulina and Ashland

Effective immediately, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson (late evening, weekend/holidays schedule) buses will resume operating over their regular routes. Buses were rerouted due to construction work that closed Harrison Street between Paulina and Ashland.
 
#7 Harrison Bus Stop Reinstated
The westbound mid-block bus stop located on Harrison near Paulina served by #7 Harrison buses has been reinstated following the completion of nearby construction work.
 

Daytime Reroute for #70 Division Buses due to Division Avenue Bridge Repairs

The Division Avenue Bridge over the North Branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day until Wednesday, April 1, due to bridge repair work.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Milwaukee then will operate via Milwaukee, Chicago, Halsted to Division and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Shamrock Shuffle Race May Cause Intermittent Service Delays Sunday Morning

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K Run may cause intermittent service delays on 22 CTA bus routes Sunday, March 29. Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Balbo will be closed to all traffic beginning at 4 a.m. until the completion of the race.
 
Participants will assemble on Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo at 8:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 9:30 a.m. 
 
The race course is north on Columbus from Jackson to Grand, west to Rush, south to Hubbard, west to State, south to Jackson, west to Jefferson, south to Harrison, east to Michigan, south to Roosevelt, east to Columbus and north to the finish line on Columbus. 
 
Buses on the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #12 Roosevelt, #14 Jeffery Express, #18 16th/18th, #20 Madison, #22 Clark, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes may be affected by the race.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

Bangladesh Parade Temporarily Reroutes #155 and #49B Buses on Sunday

Devon Avenue will be closed from Damen to Western, and Western Avenue will be closed from Devon to Pratt beginning at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29 for the Bangladesh Parade.
 
Eastbound #155 Devon buses will travel over the regular route along Devon to California then will operate via California, Touhy, Clark, Morse to Ashland and then resume the regular route. Westbound #155 buses will travel over the regular route along Devon to Ridge then will operate via Ridge, Touhy, California to Devon and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #49B North Western buses will travel over the regular route along Western to Peterson then will operate via Peterson, California, Touhy to Western and then resume the regular route. Southbound #49B buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Westbound #78 Montrose Buses Temporarily Detoured Early Next Week

The westbound Montrose Avenue lanes between Clarendon and Sheridan will be closed to all traffic from 9 a.m. Monday, March 30 until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, due to sewer work.
 
Westbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Clarendon then will travel via Clarendon, Wilson to Broadway and then continue west on Wilson over the regular route.
 

Relocation of #103 West 103rd Bus Stop

Effective Wednesday, April 1, the westbound bus stop at 103rd Street and Hale will return to a near side stop following the completion of construction work at 103rd/Weldon. This stop is served by #103 West 103rd buses.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Pavement Work along 47th Street Reroutes Eastbound #47 Buses until April 1

Eastbound 47th Street will be closed between Normal and Shields until 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, due to pavement restoration work.
 
Eastbound #47 47th buses will operate over the regular route along 47th to Halsted then will travel via Halsted, 51st, Princeton to 47th and then resume the regular route. Westbound #47 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Water Main Construction Reroutes Buses until May 12

Due to water main construction, 16th Street is closed between California and Washtenaw from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Tuesday, May 12. 
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route to Ogden/California then will operate via Ogden, Washtenaw to 16th and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 
Westbound #38 Ogden/Taylor buses will travel over the regular route to Western/Ogden then will operate via Western, 16th to Washtenaw and then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall

Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale Street and Montrose Avenue.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 
Temporary Removal of Bus Stop on Milwaukee/Ainslie
The northbound bus stop on Milwaukee at Ainslie has been temporarily removed until November 30 due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue. This location is served by #81W West Lawrence and #91 Austin buses.
 

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive

The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
 
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stops at Cottage Grove/57th Street

The northbound far side and southbound near side bus stops near the intersection of Cottage Grove and 57th Street will be temporarily eliminated until further notice due to sewer repair work. These bus stops are served by northbound and southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express buses.
 
During this time, customers are advised to board #2, #4 and #X4 buses either one block north at Cottage Grove and 56th Street, or one block south at Cottage Grove and 58th Street.
 

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Street Closure

Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
