Blue Line – Events Affecting Service

Late Night Boarding Changes at Logan Square Next Week

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks between the Belmont and California stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday night, March 25 through Friday morning, March 30, due to sewer cleaning in the subway.
 
During the times, southbound (to Forest Park) Blue Line customers at the Logan Square station must board and exit trains from the northbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 

Brown Line – Events Affecting Service

UPDATE: Completion of Work at the Chicago Station

Effective Wednesday, March 28, the main entrance/exit and the street-to-platform elevator to the northbound (to Kimball) platform of the Chicago Brown Line station will no longer be subject to daytime closures. Crews were able to complete the replacement of platform decking ahead of schedule. Customers may board and alight Brown Line trains from their usual platforms.
 

Special Event Service Details

Longer Trains to Operate for Annual Shamrock Shuffle

On Sunday, March 25, the CTA will operate longer trains along the Blue, Brown, Green and Orange lines to accommodate participants and supporters heading downtown for the annual Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K.  
 

#10 Museum of Science & Industry Buses Hours Extended for Spring Break

Service hours for #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will be extended beginning Saturday, March 24 through Saturday, April 7, to accommodate longer hours at the Museum during Spring Break.    
 
On Saturdays, Sundays and weekdays, #10 buses headed to the museum will operate approximately every 20 minutes from 8:55 a.m. until 4:35 p.m. Buses leaving the museum will operate every 20 minutes from approximately 9:40 a.m. until 6:10 p.m.
 

#19 United Center Express Service to the United Center

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for those attending the following events at the United Center this weekend and next week:
 
  • Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. – Toronto Raptors versus Bulls
  • Sunday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. – Nashville Predators versus Blackhawks
  • Monday, March 26 at 7 p.m. – Denver Nuggets versus Bulls
  • Wednesday, March 28 at 6 p.m. – McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Games
  • Thursday, March 28 at 6 p.m. – St. Louis Blues versus Blackhawks
  • Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. – Detroit Pistons versus Bulls
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event. After each event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3 and will depart approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

NEW: Tuesday Night – Trial Lifts of Michigan Avenue Bridge Detour Five Routes

From 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning, #3 King Drive, #66 Chicago (Night Owl), #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will be detoured due to the closure of the Michigan Avenue Bridge over the main branch of the Chicago River due to trial lifts.
 
Northbound #3, #147 and #151 buses will travel over the regular routes along Michigan to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume their regular route. Southbound #3, #147 and #151 buses will travel over their regular routes along Michigan to Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to Michigan and then resume their regular routes.
 
Eastbound #66 (Night Owl) buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Fairbanks then will travel via Fairbanks, Columbus, South Water to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Westbound #66 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Southbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to State and then resume the regular route.
 

NEW: Wednesday Daytime – Reroute of #21 Cermak Buses for Trial Bridge Lifts

From 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, #21 Cermak buses will be detoured due to the closure of the Cermak Road Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River for trial bridge lifts.
 
Eastbound #21 buses will operate over the regular route along Cermak to Lumber then will travel via Lumber, Canal to Cermak and then resume the regular route. Westbound #21 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

NEW: Wednesday Night – Trial Lifts of Jackson Street Bridge Detour Three Routes

From 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses and northbound #151 Sheridan and #156 LaSalle buses will be detoured due to trial lifts of the Jackson Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River.
 
Eastbound #7 and #126 buses and northbound #156 buses will travel over their regular routes along Jackson to Canal then will operate via Canal, Washington, Franklin to Jackson and then resume their regular routes. Westbound #6 and #126 buses and southbound #156 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
 
Northbound #151 buses will operate over the regular route along Canal to Van Buren then will travel via Van Buren, Jefferson, Washington, Franklin to Jackson and then resume the regular route. Southbound #151 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

NEW: Thursday Daytime – Reroute of #8 Halsted Buses for Trial Bridge Lifts

From 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, #8 Halsted buses will be rerouted due to the closure of the Halsted Street Bridge over the south branch canal of the Chicago River for trial bridge lifts.
 
From the Halsted Orange Line terminal, northbound #8 buses will travel over the regular route along Archer past Halsted to Canal then will operate via Canal, Cermak to Halsted and then resume the regular route. Southbound #8 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

NEW: Thursday Night – Trial Lifts of Madison Street Bridge Detour Five Routes

From 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 29, #14 Jeffery Express, #19 United Center Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee and #151 Sheridan buses will be detoured due to trial lifts of the Madison Street Bridge.
 
Northbound #14 and #56 buses and westbound #19 and #20 buses will travel over their regular routes along Madison to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, Randolph, Clinton to Madison and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #14 and #56 buses and eastbound #19 and #20 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
 
Southbound #151 buses will operate over the regular route along Madison to Wacker then will travel via Wacker, Randolph to Clinton and then resume the regular route. Northbound #151 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.

 

Temporary Relocation of #52 and #52A Bus Stop at Kedzie/63rd Street

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, the southbound far side stop at Kedzie/63rd Street will be temporarily relocated to a far side stop at Kedzie/63rd Place. This stop is served by #52 Kedzie and #52A South Kedzie buses.
 

New Routing for #24 Wentworth Buses Traveling to 87th/Racine Only

Currently in effect until further notice, the routing #24 Wentworth buses traveling to 87th Street/Racine only has been changed on a trial basis to serve the new businesses along Holland Road, in response to customer feedback.
 
As a result, southbound and northbound #24 buses (to 87th Street/Racine) are no longer operating on Vincennes between 83rd and 87th streets. Instead, southbound buses are traveling over the regular route along Vincennes to 83rd Street, then operating via 83rd Street, Princeton/Holland, 87th Street to Vincennes and continuing west on 87th Street over the regular route. Northbound buses will travel the reverse.
 

22 Downtown Bus Routes Subject to Reroutes for the Shamrock Shuffle

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K Run may cause intermittent service delays on 22 CTA bus routes Sunday, March 25. Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Balbo will be closed to all traffic beginning at approximately 7:30 a.m. until the completion of the race.
 
Participants will assemble on Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. To allow crews to set-up for the event, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #14 Jeffery Express buses will begin rerouting at 3 a.m.
 
The race course is north on Columbus, west on Grand, south on State, west on Jackson, south on Desplaines, east on Van Buren, south on Michigan, east on Roosevelt, north on Columbus to the finish line.
 
The following bus routes may be affected by the race:

Ongoing Bus Service Changes 

Bridge Repair Work Temporarily Detours Eastbound #79 79th Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, April 9, eastbound #79 79th buses are being detoured due to the closure of the eastbound lanes of 79th Street between Greenwood and Woodlawn avenues for bridge repair work.
 
Eastbound #79 buses are traveling over the regular route along 79th Street to Cottage Grove then operating via Cottage Grove, 83rd Street, Stony Island to 79th Street and then resuming the regular route. Westbound #79 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Temporary Removal of #66 Chicago Bus Stop at Chicago/Wabash

Currently in effect until approximately 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, the eastbound near side stop at Chicago/Wabash served by #66 Chicago buses has been temporarily removed from service due to a nearby ComEd project.
 

Water Main Work Temporarily Detours Westbound #96 Lunt Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, April 16, westbound #96 Lunt buses are being detoured due to the closure of the westbound lanes of Lunt Avenue between Sheridan and Ashland for water main installation work.

Westbound #96 buses are traveling over the regular route along Morse to Sheridan then are operating via Sheridan, Pratt, Ashland to Lunt and then resuming the regular route. Eastbound #96 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

#8 Halsted and #132 Goose Island Express Buses Detoured for Bridge Work

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Monday, April 30, #8 Halsted and #132 Goose Island Express buses are being detoured due to the closure of the North Halsted Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River for repair work.
 
Northbound #8 buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted to Chicago then are operating via Chicago, Larrabee, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Southbound #132 buses are operating over the regular route along North Branch to Division then are traveling via Division, Larrabee, Chicago to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #132 buses are operating over the regular route along Halsted to Chicago then are traveling via Chicago, Larrabee, Division to Cherry and then resuming the regular route.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect: 
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 

Temporary Removal of #29 State Bus Stop at State/Pershing

Currently in effect until Friday, June 1, the southbound far side stop at State/Pershing has been removed from service due to nearby construction work. Customers are advised to board southbound #29 buses one block south at 40th Street.
 

Wacker Drive Stage III Work Affecting 18 Downtown CTA Bus Routes

Currently in effect, 18 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Adams and Monroe streets at Wacker Drive are operating under temporary service changes, due to work associated with Stage III of the Wacker Drive construction project.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time along these routes:

Bus Stop at Archer/Cicero Temporarily Removed from Service

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, June 6, the southbound far side bus stop at Archer/Cicero will be temporarily removed from service due to the demolition of a nearby building. This stop is currently served by #62 Archer and #62H Archer/Harlem buses.
 
During this time, customers can board southbound #62 buses at the existing near side stop at Archer/Cicero. Southbound #62H buses will serve the existing stop located at Archer/Lamon.
 

Bus Stop Changes Due to Kedzie Bridge Reconstruction Work

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, October 1, the following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by #52A South Kedzie, #67 67th/69th/71st and #94 South California due to reconstruction work on the Kedzie Avenue Bridge between Marquette and 71st Street:
 
#52A South Kedzie
  • Kedzie/Marquette: the northbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a westbound near side stop on Marquette at Kedzie.
  • Kedzie/71st Street: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
 
#67 67th/69th/71st
  • 71st Street/Kedzie: the westbound near side stop has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
 
#94 South California
  • 71st Street/Kedzie: the westbound stop has been temporarily removed from service.
 

Temporary Relocation of #72 North Avenue Bus Stop

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2013, the westbound near side stop at North Avenue/Washtenaw has been relocated to a far side stop. This stop is served by #72 North Avenue buses.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Lake Park/53rd Street

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Lake Park/53rd Street has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction work. This stop is served by #6 Jackson Park Express, #X28 Stony Island Express and #171 U of C/Hyde Park buses.
 

Relocation of #36 Broadway Bus Stop Due to Nearby Construction

Currently in effect until Friday, July 12, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Broadway/Elmdale served by #36 Broadway buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Removal of Bus Stop Change Affects Five Routes

Currently in effect until Thursday, August 1, 2013, the mid-block bus stop located at 5800 South Stony Island has been temporarily removed due to construction. This stop is served by the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
