Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour, and accessible, modern stations and platforms.
Throughout the Brown Line construction project, slow zones and single track operation are periodically necessary near construction activity so, as a general rule, rail customers should allow extra travel time.
Kimball and Francisco Stations to Temporarily Close for Third Weekend Beginning Friday Evening
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, March 17, the Kimball and Francisco stations on the Brown Line will temporarily close until Monday at 2 a.m. Last weekend?'s closures were canceled due to inclement weather. This is the third scheduled temporary weekend closure while construction to expand capacity and make stations accessible continues to move forward. After this weekend?'s closures, both Kimball and Francisco stations will resume normal weekday service Monday morning, March 20. Two additional weekend closures are scheduled for March 24 - 26 and March 31 - April 2.
During the temporary weekend closure, Brown Line trains will operate between the Loop and Western station. CTA is providing a free bus shuttle for customers as a substitute for rail service. The bus shuttle will make stops at the Western station, Rockwell and Lawrence, Sacramento and Lawrence, Kedzie and Lawrence, Kedzie and Wilson, and at the Kimball station.

Kedzie and Rockwell Stations Temporarily Closed
On February 20, both the Kedzie and Rockwell stations closed for reconstruction and will remain closed for six months.
During the weekday, rail customers may go to the next closest station for Brown Line service, or choose from eight neighborhood CTA bus routes to meet their transit service needs.
Maintenance Temporarily Closes Two Northbound Brown Line Platforms Sunday
Maintenance will temporarily close the northbound Diversey and Wellington platforms on the Brown Line from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19.
As a result, during these hours, northbound Brown Line trains will not stop at the Diversey and Wellington stations. Northbound customers who wish to exit at these stations will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to a southbound Brown Line train back to those stations.
Northbound customers who wish to board at the Wellington or Diversey stations will need to board a southbound train and exit at Fullerton to board a northbound Brown Line train.
Diversey Avenue Closes Sunday Affecting #76 Diversey Route
Additionally, Diversey Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 19. #76 Diversey?" buses will operate in both directions via Diversey, Sheffield, Belmont, Clark, Halsted, back to Diversey, then resume the regular route.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
CTA Provides Service to Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier
CTA buses provide convenient service to Navy Pier for the annual Chicago Flower and Garden Show in Festival Hall through Sunday, March 19. Show hours are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Buses on the #29 State, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier routes serve Navy Pier daily. Additionally, #2 Hyde Park Express buses serve Navy Pier during weekday morning and afternoon rush periods.

Roosevelt Bridge over Chicago River Closes Thursday
The Roosevelt Bridge over the Chicago River will temporarily close Friday, March 17 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Eastbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate via Roosevelt to Canal, Harrison, State, back to Roosevelt, then resume the regular route.
Westbound buses will operate via Roosevelt to State, Harrison, Clinton, back to Roosevelt, then resume the regular route.
Cermak Bridge over Chicago River Closes Friday
The Cermak Bridge over the Chicago River will temporarily close Friday, March 17 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
#21 Cermak buses will operate in both directions via Cermak to Lumber, Canal, back to Cermak, then resume the regular route.
Late Night Single Track in Effect Sunday in State Street Subway
Single track service will be in effect in the State Street Red Line Subway for maintenance work between 13th and Grand from 10 p.m. Sunday, March 19 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 20.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.
Single Track in Effect Beginning Friday
Single track service will be in effect between 23rd and 45th from 8 p.m. Friday, March 17 until 8 a.m. Saturday, March 18 and again in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday night, March 18 until noon Sunday, March 19.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
