A Reminder for CTA Customers: Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 14 and clocks are to be set forward one hour.

 

Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Late Night Single Track between UIC-Halsted and LaSalle on Friday

Eastbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the UIC-Halsted and LaSalle stations from 10 p.m. Friday, March 12 until 6 a.m. the following morning, while crews continue detail work associated with the track renewal project.
 
Eastbound Blue Line customers at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton and LaSalle stations must board and exit trains from the westbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Southbound Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between Grand and LaSalle

Southbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Grand and LaSalle stations in the Dearborn subway from 10 p.m. Saturday, March 13 until 6 a.m. the following morning, due to work associated with the signal renewal project.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Early Monday Morning Single Track between Belmont and Addison on the O’Hare Branch

Due to track maintenance, northbound Blue Line trains on the O’Hare branch will undergo an early morning single track between the Belmont and Addison stations from 1 a.m. until 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning, March 15.
 
During this time, northbound Blue Line customers at the Belmont and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Track for Westbound Trains on the Forest Park Branch Next Week

Westbound Blue Line trains operating along the Forest Park branch will undergo a late night single track four nights next week while crews continue work associated with the signal renewal project.
 
Monday Night at Kedzie-Homan
From 9 p.m. Monday, March 15 until 4 a.m. the following morning, westbound Blue Line customers at the Kedzie-Homan station on the Forest Park branch must board and exit trains from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Tuesday Night at Western
From 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 until 4 a.m. the following morning, westbound Blue Line customers at the Western station on the Forest Park branch must board and exit trains from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Wednesday and Thursday Nights at Racine and Illinois Medical District
From 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 9 p.m. Thursday, March 18 until 4 a.m. the following morning, westbound Blue Line customers at the Racine and Illinois Medical District stations on the Forest Park branch must board and exit trains from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect at North/Clybourn Due to Subway Sewer Cleaning

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains at the North/Clybourn station from 10 p.m. Sunday, March 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to sewer cleaning in the subway.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Monday Night
From 11 p.m. Monday, March 15 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line trains will undergo a late night single track at the North/Clybourn station due to subway sewer cleaning.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Track in Effect in the State Street Subway Due to Sewer Cleaning

Southbound Red Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Clark/Division and Grand stations from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, March 16 through Friday morning, March 19, while crews clean sewers in the State Street subway.
 
During these times, southbound Red Line customers at the Clark/Division station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses before and after the following events at the United Center:
 
  • Friday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. – MUSE concert
  • Saturday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. – Black Eyed Peas concert
  • Sunday, March 14 at 11:30 a.m. – Washington Capitals versus Blackhawks
  • Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m. – Jay-Z concert
  • Friday, March 19 at 7 p.m. – Cleveland Cavaliers versus Bulls
 
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event until the event begins.  When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
#19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton.  From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After each game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3.  On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

UPDATE: #126 Jackson Buses Temporarily Detoured for Sewer Main Construction Work

Currently in effect until 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 15, Jackson at Maplewood is closed to all traffic due to the installation of a new water main.
 
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson to California then traveling via California, Madison, Western to Jackson and resuming the regular route. Westbound #126 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

UPDATE: Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses Detoured Due to Water Main Work

The temporary closure of the southbound curb lane of Van Buren between Wells and Franklin has been further extended until Wednesday, March 31, due to a water main installation project.
 
Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Wells to Adams then operating via Adams, Wacker to Van Buren and resuming the regular route. Northbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

UPDATE: Southbound #36 Broadway and #145 Wilson/Michigan Express Buses Detoured at Van Buren/Wells

The temporary reroute of southbound #36 Broadway and #145 Wilson/Michigan Express buses from the area of Van Buren/Wells has been further extended until Wednesday, March 31, due to construction.
 
Southbound #36 and #145 buses are traveling over their regular routes along Van Buren Street to Clark then operating via Clark, Congress, Wells to Harrison before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #36 and #145 buses are traveling east along Harrison over the regular route.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Effective at the start of service on Monday, March 15 until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses temporarily will be removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses from either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
 

Daytime Reroute of #22 Clark Buses due to Trial Bridge Lifts on Friday

The Clark Street Bridge over the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic on Friday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. due to trial bridge lifts.
 
Southbound #22 Clark buses will travel over the regular route along Clark to Kinzie then will operate via Kinzie, LaSalle, Wacker to Clark and then resume the regular route. Northbound #22 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

CTA Buses Detoured for St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Grant Park on Saturday

Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Monroe, and Congress Plaza will be closed to all traffic for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 13. The parade will step off at noon.
 
#6 Jackson Park Express
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate over the regular route along Columbus to Roosevelt then will travel via Roosevelt, Michigan, Randolph to Field before turning to begin southbound service.
 
Southbound #6 buses will travel east on Randolph to State then will operate via State, Balbo, Michigan, Roosevelt to Columbus and then resume the regular route.
 
#10 Museum of Science & Industry
Northbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will travel over the regular route along Columbus to Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt, Michigan, Balbo, State, Lake to Michigan and then resume the regular route north on Michigan.
 
Southbound #10 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan past Wacker to Randolph then will operate via Randolph, State, Balbo, Michigan, Roosevelt to Columbus and then resume the regular route south on Columbus.
 
#14 Jeffery Express
Northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over the regular route along Columbus to Roosevelt then will travel via Roosevelt to Michigan and then resume the regular route north on Michigan. Southbound #14 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
#124 Navy Pier
Eastbound #124 Navy Pier buses will operate over the regular route along Wacker to State then will travel via State, Illinois to Columbus and then resume the regular route south on Columbus.
 
Westbound #124 buses will operate over the regular route along Grand to Fairbanks then will travel via Fairbanks, Ontario to Michigan and then resume the regular south along Michigan.
 
#126 Jackson
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Harrison then will operate via Harrison to Wabash before turning to begin westbound service.
 
From Harrison/Wabash, westbound #126 buses will travel via Wabash, Balbo to Michigan and then resume the regular route north along Michigan.
 
#146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express
Southbound #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate over the regular route along Michigan past Wacker to Randolph then will travel via Randolph to State and then resume the regular route south on State. Northbound #146 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 
#147 Outer Drive Express
Southbound #147 Outer Drive Express buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Harrison then will operate via Harrison to Wabash before turning to begin northbound service.
 
From Harrison/Wabash, northbound #147 buses will travel via Harrison to State and then resume the regular route north on State.
 

#68 Northwest Highway Buses Rerouted on Sunday for St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On Sunday, March 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Northwest Highway will be closed to all traffic between Neola and Neva for the annual Northwest Side St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
 
Southbound #68 Northwest Highway buses will travel over the regular route along Northwest Highway to Devon then will operate via Devon, Milwaukee, Nagle to Northwest Highway and then resume the regular route. Northbound #68 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stop at 5000 S. Lake Park

Effective at the start of service on Monday, March 15 until Wednesday, March 31, the northbound mid-block stop at 5000 S. Lake Park Avenue temporarily will be removed from service due to construction work at the nearby Metra station. This stop is served by #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
 

Daytime Reroute of #124 Navy Pier Buses on Monday

The Columbus Drive Bridge over the main branch of the Chicago River will be closed on Monday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. due to trial bridge lifts.
 
Southbound #124 Navy Pier buses will operate over the regular route along Grand to Lake Shore Drive then will travel via Lake Shore Drive, Lower Wacker to Columbus and then resume the regular route. Northbound #124 buses will operate over the regular route along Columbus to Lower Wacker then will travel via Lower Wacker, Lake Shore Drive to Illinois and then resume the regular route.
 

Roosevelt Road Bridge Lifts Detour Two Bus Routes Thursday Night

On Thursday, March 18 from midnight to 5 a.m., the Roosevelt Road Bridge over the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic for trial bridge lifts.
 
Eastbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate over the regular route along Roosevelt to Canal then will travel via Canal, Harrison, State to Roosevelt and then resume the regular route.
 
Westbound #12 buses will operate over the regular route along Roosevelt to State then will travel via State, Harrison, Franklin, Van Buren, Clinton to Roosevelt and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #62 Archer (Owl Service) buses will travel over the regular route along Roosevelt to Canal then will operate via Canal, Harrison to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.
 
Westbound #62 (Owl Service) buses will travel over the regular route along Roosevelt to Clark then will operate via Clark, Harrison, Canal to Roosevelt and then resume the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

#53A South Pulaski Bus Stop at Pulaski/82nd Street Temporarily Relocated

Currently in effect until 7 p.m. Friday, March 12, the southbound bus stop at the T-intersection of Pulaski/82nd Street served by #53A South Pulaski buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop at Pulaski/82nd Place, due to a nearby sewer construction project.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster

Currently in effect until Wednesday, March 17, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster temporarily has been removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets. These changes in service are expected to remain in place until April.
 
Southbound #29 State buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Removal of #66 Chicago Bus Stop

Currently in effect, the eastbound near side stop at Chicago/Clark served by #66 Chicago buses temporarily has been removed from service until Friday, April 30, due to construction.
 

14 CTA Bus Routes Affected Due to Jackson Viaduct Work

Due to the reconstruction of the Jackson Boulevard viaduct between Canal and Wacker, changes in service along 14 CTA bus routes are expected to remain in place until April. The following CTA bus routes are being rerouted to adjacent streets:

Temporary Relocation of #93 California/Dodge Bus Stop

Currently in effect until Thursday, May 27, the southbound curb lane of California Avenue at Granville is closed to all traffic due to construction. As a result of this lane closure, the southbound near side stop at California/Granville served by #93 California/Dodge buses temporarily has been relocated approximately 175 feet north.
 

#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses temporarily have been removed from service due rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
 

Temporary Removal of #29 State Bus Stop at State/Pershing

Due to an underground construction project, the southbound far side stop at State/Pershing served by #29 State buses has been removed from service until Sunday, May 1, 2011.
 

Southbound #29 State Bus Stop at State/Pershing Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect, the southbound far side stop at State/Pershing served by #29 State buses temporarily has been removed from service due to an underground construction project. This bus stop is expected to be returned to service on Friday, June 1, 2011.
