Brown Line – Events Affecting Service

Southbound Brown Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted in the Loop on Sunday

From 7:15 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 5 southbound Brown Line trains will be rerouted in the Loop due to maintenance work on the outer Loop structure along Wells and Van Buren. 
 
During this time, southbound (to the Loop) Brown Line trains will be rerouted from the outer Loop track to the inner Loop track, and travel clockwise. Entering the Loop, Brown Line trains will make their first stop at Clark/Lake, then State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Harold Washington Library, LaSalle/Van Buren, Quincy/Wells and Washington/Wells, then proceed to the Merchandise Mart station and resume the normal route.
 
Trains operating along the Green, Orange and Pink lines will be unaffected and will operate normally in the Loop. 
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. 
 

Pink Line – Events Affecting Service

Late Night Boarding Changes at the Cicero Station Next Week

All Pink Line trains will be routed to operate on the westbound (to 54th/Cermak) tracks at the Cicero station from 10 p.m. each night until 2 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, June 6 through Thursday morning, June 9, due to track maintenance work.
 
During these times, eastbound (to the Loop) Pink Line customers at the Cicero station must board and exit trains from the westbound (to 54th/Cermak) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Two-Phase Single Track Operation in Effect at Cicero, Kostner and Pulaski

A two-phase single track operation will be in effect for all late night Pink Line trains operating between the Central Park and 54th/Cermak stations beginning Thursday night, June 9, as track maintenance work continues.
 
Phase I – at Cicero
From 10 p.m. until midnight Thursday, June 9, Pink Line customers at the Cicero station traveling eastbound (to the Loop) must board and exit trains from the westbound (to 54th/Cermak) side of the platform.
 
Phase II – at Cicero, Kostner and Pulaski
From 12:01 a.m. until 2:05 a.m. Friday, June 10, Pink Line customers at the Cicero, Kostner and Pulaski stations traveling eastbound (to the Loop) must board and exit trains from the westbound (to 54th/Cermak) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Events Affecting Service

Late Night Boarding Changes for Northbound Red Line Trains at Belmont Next Week

Northbound (to Howard) Red Line trains will be routed to operate on the Brown Line tracks at the Belmont station from 9 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 6 through Saturday, morning, June 11, while crews perform structure maintenance work.
 
During these times, northbound (to Howard) Red Line customers at the Belmont station must board and exit trains from the side of the platform served by northbound Brown Line trains.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. 
 

Service for Upcoming Events

Longer Orange Line Trains for the Kenny Chesney Concert at Toyota Park

The CTA will operate longer trains along the Orange Line beginning with the evening rush service until end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.) on Thursday, June 9, to accommodate those attending the Kenny Chesney concert at Toyota Park.
 
The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is expected to last until approximately 11 p.m. 
 
Concert attendees can take the Orange Line to Midway and connect to Toyota Park Express buses. The Toyota Park shuttle buses are operated by Pace; therefore, a transfer fee will be charged for customers transferring from Orange Line trains or CTA buses. Those not transferring from CTA will need to pay a $1.25 fare to board the shuttle buses.
 
Toyota Park Express buses operate every 20 minutes beginning two hours before the concert begins. Following the event, shuttle buses will operate every 30 minutes from the venue to the Midway station.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

May Fest Temporarily Reroutes Buses

Leland Avenue between Western and Lincoln, and Lincoln Avenue between Leland and Wilson are closed until noon Monday, June 6, for the annual May Fest. As a result of these street closures, #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick and #49B North Western buses are being rerouted to adjacent streets.
 
Southbound #11 buses are operating over the regular route along Western past Leland to Wilson then are traveling via Wilson to Lincoln and resuming the regular route. Northbound #11 buses are traveling over the regular route along Lincoln to Wilson then are operating via Wilson to Western and resuming the regular route north on Western past Leland. 
 
Southbound #49B buses are operating over the regular route along Western past Leland to Montrose then are traveling via Montrose, Lincoln, Wilson to Western and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #49B buses are traveling over the regular route.
 

Annual Printers Row Lit Fest Detours Four CTA Bus Routes This Weekend

Currently in effect until approximately 2 a.m. Monday, June 6, four CTA bus routes are being detoured due to the closure of Dearborn between Harrison and Polk and Polk between Clark and Dearborn for the annual Printers Row Lit Fest. Routes that are affected during this time are the #22 Clark, #24 Wentworth, #62 Archer and #129 West Loop/South Loop (PM Rush service only).
 
Southbound #22 buses are traveling south on Clark to Harrison before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #22 buses are departing from Dearborn/Van Buren and traveling north on Dearborn over the regular route.
 
Northbound #24 buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Roosevelt then are traveling via Roosevelt, State, Harrison to Dearborn and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #24 buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Harrison then are traveling via Harrison, State, Roosevelt to Clark and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #62 buses are traveling over the regular route along State past Polk to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Dearborn and resuming the regular route. Southbound #62 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
During the evening rush period only on Friday, southbound #129 buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Harrison then will travel via Harrison to State and then resume the regular route south on State past Polk.
 

#70 Division Buses Detoured for the Do Division Street Festival This Weekend

From 1 a.m. Saturday, June 4 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 6, #70 Division buses will be detoured due to the closure of Division Street between Damen and Leavitt for the annual Do Division Street Festival and Sidewalk Sale.
 
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Western then will operate via Western, Augusta, Damen to Division and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Detours Buses Serving the Museum Campus This Weekend

From 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be detoured due to the closure of Solidarity Drive and Museum Campus Drive between Waldron and McFetridge for the annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. 
 
Due to these closures, southbound #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be unable to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive. Buses instead will operate over their regular routes along Columbus, east on McFetridge to the south side of the Field Museum before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #130 and #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

The 13.1 Marathon Chicago Reroutes Buses Saturday Morning

From 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, #6 Jackson Park Express, #14 Jeffery Express and #67 67th/69th/71st buses will be detoured due to the closure of Marquette Drive between Lake Shore Drive and Richards, and the northbound lanes of South Shore Drive between 71st Street and Lake Shore Drive for the annual 13.1 Marathon Chicago.
 
Northbound #6 buses will travel over the regular route along South Shore Drive to 75th Street then will operate via 75th Street, Jeffery to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #14 buses will operate over the regular route along Jeffery to 67th Street then will travel via 67th Street, Cornell, 57th Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Southbound #14 buses will travel over the regular route on Lake Shore Drive to 57th Street then will operate via 57th Street, Cornell, Stony Island, 67th Street to Jeffery and resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #67 buses will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Jeffery then will operate via Jeffery, 73rd Street, Stony Island to 67th Street before beginning westbound service. From 67th Street/Stony Island, westbound #67 buses will travel west on 67th Street over the regular route.
 

Shuttle Service to Montrose Beach Temporarily Unavailable Early Saturday Morning

From 8 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, #78 Montrose shuttle buses temporarily will be unable to serve the beach due to the closure of Simonds Drive between Montrose and Wilson for the Girls on the Run 5K event. Shuttle service to the beach will resume upon completion of the event.
 

Buses Rerouted for the United Run for the Zoo Event

On Sunday, June 5 from 4 a.m. until 10 a.m., #76 Diversey and #151 Sheridan buses will be rerouted due to the closure of Stockton Drive between Cannon and LaSalle; Cannon Drive between Diversey and Fullerton; and Lake Shore Drive West between Diversey and Cannon for the annual United Run for the Zoo event.
 
Eastbound #76 buses will operate over the regular route along Diversey to Sheridan then will operate via Sheridan, Belmont to Lake Shore Drive West south of Oakdale before beginning westbound service. Westbound #76 buses will continue south on Lake Shore Drive West to Diversey and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #151 buses will travel over the regular route along Sheridan/Lakeview past Diversey to Fullerton and then will operate via Fullerton, Lincoln Park West, Clark, LaSalle to Inner Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Northbound #151 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Ongoing Bus Service Changes

Construction on South Side Detours Three CTA Bus Routes

Currently in effect through Monday, June 6, the #2 Hyde Park Express, #59 59th/61st and #170 U of Chicago/Midway bus routes are undergoing temporary detours from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day due to the closure of 60th Street between Dorchester and Blackstone for a water pipe installation project.
 
Southbound #2 buses are traveling over the regular route to Stony Island/Midway Plaisance and then are traveling via Midway Plaisance, Dorchester to 60th Street and continuing west on 60th Street over the regular route.
 
Westbound #59 buses are beginning their trips from Midway Plaisance and then are operating via Cornell, Midway Plaisance to Dorchester and then resuming the regular route.
 
Eastbound #170 buses are traveling over the regular route to 60th/Dorchester then are operating via Dorchester, Midway Plaisance to Stony Island and then resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Harrison/Paulina

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, the westbound near side stop at Harrison/Paulina served by #126 Jackson buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Repairs to Bridge Detour #111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, September 30, #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are being detoured from Cottage Grove between 98th Street and 100th Place due to bridge repair work.
 
Southbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 95th Street to King Drive then operating via King Drive, 100th Street to Cottage Grove and resuming the regular route. Northbound #111 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

#36 Broadway and #70 Division Buses Detoured on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 29, #36 Broadway and #70 Division buses will be detoured due to the closure of Division Street between State and Clark for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State and Grand, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then are operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Changes in Service along #8 Halsted Route for Bridge Reconstruction Project

Currently in effect until late-December 2011, Halsted Street between Division and the north branch of the Chicago River is closed due to a bridge reconstruction project.
 
Northbound #8 Halsted buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted past Chicago to North Branch then are operating via North Branch, Cherry, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Changes to Bus Stops
  • Halsted/North Branch: the northbound far side stop on Halsted has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop on North Branch at Halsted.
  • Halsted/Division: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop.
 

Service Changes for 13 CTA Bus Routes due to Wacker Drive Construction

Until further notice, 13 CTA bus routes that operate on or near Wacker Drive have undergone service changes due to several downtown street closures as part of the Revive Wacker Drive reconstruction project. 
 
These street closures are affecting service on the #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick, #19 United Center Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #120 Ogilvie/Wacker Express, #121 Union/Wacker Express, #122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express, #123 Illinois Center/Union Express, #124 Navy Pier, #125 Water Tower Express, #129 West Loop/South Loop and the #157 Streeterville/Taylor.

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
