Temporary Bus Stop Locations Begin at 69th Street Red Line StationBeginning Friday, June 27 bus customers using the bus bridge at the CTA's 69th Street Red Line Station will experience a temporary change of bus stop locations while the bus bridge is reconstructed. CTA has located temporary bus stops on adjacent streets near the terminal. The temporary stops are all within a block of the terminal so customers will not have to travel far.
Temporary bus stops are expected to be in place through September when access to the bus bridge will return to normal.
Extra Service Provided for Taste of ChicagoVisitors to the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, Friday, June 27 through Sunday, July 6 will find CTA service the most effective way to travel. Longer trains will operate into the Loop until late every night, and extra buses will be available toward the close of each evening's activities to carry customers home.
More extensive service will be available on Thursday evening, July 3 for spectators attending the fireworks display in Grant Park. All customers heading for the Taste and the fireworks are encouraged to purchase Transit Cards in advance to speed their trips in and out of the downtown area.
Gay and Lesbian Pridefest and Parade Close HalstedHalsted will be closed from Addison to just south of Grace from 3 a.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday for Pridefest. #8 Halsted buses will operate northbound via Addison, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan Road to Broadway and south on Broadway to Waveland. Southbound #8 buses will operate via Broadway and Addison to Halsted then resume the regular route.
On Sunday, June 29 Halsted will be closed between Fullerton and Broadway for the Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade. The closure will be in effect from 10 a.m. until after the parade clean up. Seven bus routes will be affected by the parade. Reroutes will involve buses operating on streets adjacent to the parade route.
#22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will operate around the parade via Irving Park, Clark, Sheffield and Diversey to Clark.
#8 Halsted buses will operate northbound via Halsted, Lincoln, Sheffield, Diversey, back to Halsted and the regular route. Southbound #8 buses will operate via Diversey to Halsted and the regular route.
#76 Diversey and #77 Belmont buses will operate east to Sheffield before beginning their westbound trips.
#151 Sheridan buses will use Belmont, Outer Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton to Stockton in both directions.
#152 Addison buses will operate east via Clark and Irving Park before ending their trips at Inner Lake Shore Drive and heading back west.
Due to the parade, buses will not be able to travel on Broadway between Diversey and Irving Park; Halsted between Fullerton and Waveland; Diversey between Sheffield and Inner Lake Shore Drive; Addison between Clark and Lake Shore Drive; Sheridan between Belmont and Diversey; Stockton between Diversey and Fullerton; Belmont between Sheffield and Lake Shore Drive; and Cannon between Belmont and the Nature Museum at Fullerton.
The parade will disband in Lincoln Park on Cannon Drive between Diversey and Fullerton.
Sewer Work Closes Broadway until July 3Broadway will be closed southbound only at Oakdale for sewer work beginning Monday, June 30 and running no later than Thursday afternoon. Southbound #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted via Belmont, Halsted, Clark to Diversey and back to the regular route.
Sewer Work Closes Narragansett until June 30Narragansett will be closed northbound only at Wrightwood until Monday, June 30 for sewer work. Northbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland buses will operate via Fullerton, Austin, Diversey and back to Narragansett and the regular route.
