Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect between the Montrose and Jefferson Park Stations

From 10 p.m. Friday, June 11 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Jefferson Park and Montrose stations on the O’Hare branch, due to maintenance and repair work.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Southbound Trains Undergo Single Track between the Belmont and California Stations Next Week

An early morning single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Belmont and California stations on the O’Hare branch from 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 15 and then again from 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Thursday, June 17, due to scheduled maintenance work along the right of way.
 
During these times, southbound Blue Line customers at the Logan Square station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Orange Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between the Ashland and 35th/Archer Stations

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Orange Line trains between the Ashland and 35th/Archer stations from 9 p.m. Sunday, June 13 until the end of service (approximately midnight), due to routine track maintenance.
 
Southbound Orange Line customers at the Ashland station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Track in Effect at the 35th/Archer Station Next Week

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Orange Line trains at the 35th/Archer station from 9 p.m. each night until the end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.) on Monday, June 14; Tuesday, June 15 and Wednesday, June 16, due to track maintenance.
 
During these times, southbound Orange Line customers at the 35th/Archer station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Single Track in Effect for Southbound Trains at the Western Station Thursday Night

A single track will be in effect for southbound Orange Line trains at the Western station from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 17 until the end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.), due to routine track maintenance.
 
During these times, southbound Orange Line customers at the Western station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Purple Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Single Track in Effect for Northbound Trains on Saturday

From 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, a single track will be in effect for northbound Purple Line trains between the Davis and Central stations. 

Northbound customers at the Foster and Noyes stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect at the North/Clybourn Station

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains at the North/Clybourn station from 11 p.m. Monday, June 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 11 p.m. Thursday, June 17 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to station refurbishment work.
 
During these times, northbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the southbound platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

Cubs/Sox Series This Weekend – Take the CTA to Wrigley Field

CTA encourages baseball fans to avoid traffic congestion by taking public transit to Wrigley Field for the Cubs/Sox series. CTA provides convenient and affordable bus and train service to both of Chicago’s ballparks.
 
The Chicago Cubs host the Chicago White Sox this weekend at Wrigley Field. The first game of the three-game Interleague series begins Friday, June 11 at 1:20 p.m.; Saturday’s game time is 3:05 p.m.; and the last game of the weekend series is Sunday at 7:05 p.m.
 
Prior to each game, CTA staff will greet customers at the Addison station and distribute commemorative 2010 Crosstown Series posters to customers who use the Red Line to get to the game. Posters will be handed out as long as supplies last.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Temporary Relocation of #75 74th/75th Bus Stop at 75th Street/Jeffery

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, September 30, the eastbound near side stop at 75th Street/Jeffery served by #75 74th/75th buses temporarily has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Water Main Reconstruction Project Detours Westbound #56A North Milwaukee Buses

Currently in effect until Sunday, August 1, Devon Avenue between New Castle and Oak Park will be closed to all traffic due to a water main reconstruction project.
 
Westbound #56A North Milwaukee buses are traveling over the regular route along Milwaukee to Nagle then are operating via Nagle, Northwest Highway to Harlem and then resuming the regular route.
 

North Center Ribfest Detours #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses This Weekend

Currently in effect until 3 a.m. Monday, June 14, Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Warner is closed to all traffic for the North Center Ribfest.
 
Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will travel over the regular route along Lincoln to Montrose then are operating via Montrose, Damen to Lincoln and resuming the regular route. Northbound #11 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Relocation of #66 Chicago Bus Stop at Chicago/Central

Effective immediately, the westbound far side stop at Chicago/Central served by #66 Chicago buses has been relocated to a near side stop.
 

Annual Printers Row Lit Fest Detours Four CTA Bus Routes

Four CTA bus routes are being detoured this weekend due to street closures for the annual Printers Row Lit Fest. Dearborn Street between Harrison and Polk, and Polk Street between Clark and Dearborn are closed until 2 a.m. Monday, June 14.
 
Southbound #22 Clark buses are traveling south on Clark to Harrison before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #22 buses are departing from Dearborn/Van Buren and traveling the regular route.
 
Northbound #24 Wentworth buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Roosevelt then traveling via Roosevelt, State, Harrison, Dearborn and resuming the regular route. Southbound #24 buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Harrison and then traveling via Harrison, State, Roosevelt, Clark and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #62 Archer buses are traveling over the regular route along State past Polk to Harrison then operating via Harrison to Dearborn and resuming the regular route. Southbound #62 buses are not affected and are traveling the regular route.
 
During the evening rush period only, southbound #129 West Loop/South Loop buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Harrison then will travel via Harrison to State and then resume the regular route south on State past Polk.
 

#22 Clark Buses Rerouted for the Annual Andersonville Midsommarfest

Clark Street between Foster and Catalpa will be closed to all traffic from 2 a.m. Saturday, June 12 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 13, due to the Andersonville Midsommarfest.
 
Southbound #22 Clark buses will travel over the regular route along Clark to Bryn Mawr then will operate via Bryn Mawr, Ashland, Foster to Clark and then resume the regular route. Northbound #22 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

#56 Milwaukee Buses Detoured for the Metronome Celebration This Weekend

Milwaukee Avenue between Francis and Maplewood will be closed to all traffic from 2 a.m. Saturday, June 12 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 13, due to the Metronome Celebration.
 
Southbound #56 Milwaukee buses will travel over the regular route along Milwaukee to Sacramento then will operate via Sacramento, Armitage to Milwaukee and then resume the regular route. Northbound #56 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

The 13.1 Marathon Chicago Reroutes Buses Sunday Morning

Marquette Drive between Lake Shore Drive and Richards, and the northbound lanes of South Shore Drive between 71st Street and Lake Shore Drive will be closed to all traffic from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, June 13, for the 13.1 Marathon Chicago.
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will travel over the regular route along South Shore Drive to 75th Street then will operate via 75th Street, Jeffery to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses are not affected and will travel the regular route.
 
Northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over the regular route along Jeffery to 67th Street then will travel via 67th Street, Cornell, 57th Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Southbound #14 buses will travel over the regular route on Lake Shore Drive to 57th Street then will operate via 57th Street, Cornell, Stony Island, 67th Street to Jeffery and resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses will operate over the regular route along 67th Street to Jeffery, continue east on 67th Street to the 67th Street/South Shore terminal before turning to begin westbound service. Westbound #67 buses will depart from the terminal and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Buses Detoured on Sunday for the University of Chicago’s Commencement

From 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, Ellis Avenue between 57th Street and 59th Street, and University Avenue between 57th Street and 59th Street will be closed for the University of Chicago’s commencement services.
 
Southbound #171 U of C/Hyde Park and #172 U of C/Kenwood buses will travel over their regular route along Ellis to 57th Street then will operate via 57th Street, Cottage Grove to 69th Street and then resume their regular routes.
 
Northbound #171 buses will operate over the regular route along 59th street to Woodlawn then will travel via Woodlawn to 55th Street and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #172 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

#36 Broadway Bus Stop at Broadway/Wilson Temporarily Relocated

Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 16, the southbound far side stop at Broadway/Wilson served by #36 Broadway buses has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop due to sidewalk construction work.
 

#49A South Western Bus Stop at Western/York Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Thursday, June 17, the southbound near side stop at Western/York served by #49A South Western buses has been temporarily eliminated due to nearby construction.
 

#72 Bus Stop at North/Clybourn Red Line Station Temporarily Relocated Due to Construction

Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 30, the eastbound mid-block stop in front of the North/Clybourn station that is served by #72 North Avenue buses has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop at the intersection of North/Clybourn. The relocation is due to construction at the North/Clybourn Red Line station.
 
In addition, #72 buses now are serving the temporary far side stop at the North Avenue/Halsted intersection.
 

#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses have been temporarily removed from service due to rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
 

Temporary Elimination of Bus Stop at Michigan/Delaware

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the southbound near side stop at Michigan/Delaware has been temporarily removed from service due to sidewalk reconstruction work.
 
This stop is served by #33 Mag Mile Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #148 Clarendon/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 
Customers may board and exit these buses from the near side stop at Michigan/Pearson.
 

#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroutes Due to Bridge Repair Work

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work.
 
Southbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
 
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses has been temporarily removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses at either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
  

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 30, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Jeffery/75th Street

Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound far side bus stop at Jeffery/75th Street has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop due to sidewalk construction. This stop is served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses.
 
Temporary Changes in Service for #21 Cermak and #62 Archer Buses Serving the Cermak-Chinatown Station
Currently in effect, customers at the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station must use the new entrance located approximately one block north of Cermak on Archer Avenue. This entrance will serve as the primary access point for customers while the main entrance to the station on the north side of Cermak is reconstructed and made accessible. 
 
As a result of these changes, and to accommodate customers transferring between bus and rail services, the following changes have been made to buses serving the station:
 
#21 Cermak
Eastbound #21 Cermak buses are traveling over the regular route along Cermak to Wentworth then operating via Wentworth, Archer, Clark to Cermak and resuming the regular route. Westbound #21 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Cermak/Wentworth: the near side stop at Cermak/Wentworth served by eastbound #21 buses temporarily has been removed from service.
 
  • Wentworth/Cermak: new temporary stops have been added at Wentworth/Cermak for eastbound and westbound #21 buses. Eastbound customers must board and exit buses from the far side stop; westbound customers must board and exit buses from the near side stop.
  • Cermak/Red Line Station: the mid-block stop near the Cermak Road entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station temporarily has been removed from service.
  • Archer/Red Line Station: eastbound #21 buses are serving the new temporary mid-block stop near the Archer Avenue entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station.
  • Wentworth/Archer: westbound #21 buses are serving the new temporary far side stop at Wentworth/Archer.
 
#62 Archer
  • Archer/Wentworth: the northbound near side stop at Archer/Wentworth served by #62 buses has been removed from service.
  • Archer/Red Line Station: northbound #62 buses are serving the new mid-block stop near the Archer Avenue entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station.
 

#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop at Milwaukee/Diversey Temporarily Relocated

Until further notice, the southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Diversey served by #56 Milwaukee buses has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 State buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster

Currently in effect until further notice, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster has been temporarily removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, several streets in the downtown area have been closed or reconfigured until Monday, April 2, 2012. As a result of these closures and reconfigurations, the following changes in service along three CTA bus routes currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only. As a result, the southbound near side bus stop at Van Buren/Canal served by #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses has been relocated to a far side stop. 
 
#121 Union Wacker Express
Lower Wacker Drive between Harrison and Randolph is closed to all traffic due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project. During this time #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are being detoured to adjacent streets.
 
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses will operate over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then travel via Upper Wacker to Adams and resume the regular route west on Adams.
 
#124 Navy Pier
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only.
 
Westbound #124 Navy Pier buses are traveling over the regular route along Clinton past Van Buren to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Canal and resuming the regular route north on Canal. Eastbound #124 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
