Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of July 28 - 30

CTA Provides Convenient Bus and Rail Service for Venetian Night
The Chicago Transit Authority will provide extra bus and rail service on Saturday evening, July 29 to accommodate the anticipated increase in customers heading to Venetian Night, the Grant Park Orchestra concert at Millennium Park and the fireworks at Monroe Harbor.

Additional bus service will be provided on the following routes serving downtown:#3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #12 Roosevelt, #14 Jeffery Express, #22 Clark, #29 State, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan.

Additional rail service will operate in the evening on the Red, Brown, Green, Blue, Pink and Orange lines as well as the Purple Line between Howard and Linden. The last trains will depart at their regular times.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between 33rd and Garfield from
8 p.m. Friday, July 28 until 8 a.m. Saturday, July 29. North and southbound customers boarding at theSox-35th and 47th stations must board on the east side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 45th and Garfield from 11 p.m. Monday, July 31 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, August 1 and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday and Wednesday nights. North and southbound customers boarding at 47th station must board on the west side of the platform.

Blue Line Signal Upgrade:
CTA is working to upgrade approximately 20 miles of the existing 40-year-old train control system and power supply equipment from the Forest Park terminal of the Blue Line Forest Park branch through the Dearborn subway to the Jefferson Park station of the Blue Line O'Hare branch.

These systems ensure the safe operation and movement of trains, and the appropriate speed and distance between trains as well as help CTA personnel manage rail service in the event of an emergency.

The upgraded signal system will result in improved reliability of service for Blue Line customers, and also includes upgrades to the power cables and communication system needed to connect the Red Line State Street subway and Blue Line Dearborn Street subway.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch Friday and Saturday
A three-phase single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Austin stations Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29.

From 11 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday, the single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Harlem stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park and Harlem stations must board on the north side of the platform.

From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday, the single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Austin stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park, Harlem and Oak Park stations must board on the north side of the platform.

From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, the single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Harlem stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park and Harlem stations must board on the north side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line O'Hare Branch Saturday and Sunday
A three-phase single track will be in effect between the Addison and California stations Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.

From 11 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday, the single track will be in effect between the Addison and Belmont stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Addison and Belmont stations must board on the north side of the platform.

From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday, the single track will be in effect between the Addison and California stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Addison, Belmont and Logan Square stations must board on the north side of the platform.

From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, the single track will be in effect between the Addison and Belmont stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Addison and Belmont stations must board on the north side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Red Line Subway for Maintenance Saturday and Sunday Nights
A single track will be in effect between the North/Clybourn and Grand stations on the Red Line from 11:59 p.m. Saturday,
July 29 until 8 a.m. Sunday, July 30. North and southbound customers boarding at Grand, Chicago and Clark/Division on the Red Line must board on the west side of the platform during this time.

A single track will be in effect between the Roosevelt and Lake stations on the Red Line from 9 p.m. Sunday, July 30 until
4:30 a.m. Monday, July 31. North and southbound customers boarding at Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Lake stations must board on the west side of the platform during this time.

Single Track in Effect for Maintenance on Brown Line Sunday
A two-phase single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Merchandise Mart stations on the Brown Line on Sunday July 30. From 7 a.m. until noon the single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Chicago stations. North and southbound customers boarding at Sedgwick must board on the south platform and customers boarding at Chicago must board on the west platform.

From 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., the single track will be in effect in the same location, however north and southbound customers boarding at Sedgwick must board on the north platform and customers boarding at Chicago must board on the east platform.

Single Track in Blue Line Subway for Maintenance Sunday Night
A single track will be in effect between LaSalle station and the Grand Station on the Blue Line from 9 p.m. Sunday, July 30 until 4 a.m. Monday, July 31. North and southbound customers boarding at Clark, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board on the west side of the platform during this time.

Cermak Closed for Fiesta Del Sol through August 1
Cicero is closed between Morgan (1000 West) and Loomis (1400 West) for the annual Fiesta del Sol celebration until
1 a.m. Tuesday, August 1. Eastbound #21 Cermak buses are operating on Cermak to Laflin, Blue Island, 19th, Loomis, 18th, to Halsted then back to Cermak to resume the regular route. Westbound #21 Cermak buses are operating on Cermak to Halsted, 18th, Blue Island, Laflin, then back to Cermak to resume the regular route.

CTA Providing Extra Service to Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park Saturday and Sunday
The CTA will operate longer trains on the Green and Pink Lines Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 for the Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park, which is near the Ashland station on the Green and Pink Lines. Gates open at noon each day with performances from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Concert goers can also get to Union Park on the CTA's #9 Ashland and #20 Madison.

Parade Closes West Side Streets Saturday
The Say No to Drugs Parade will close area West Side streets on Saturday, July 29 from 9 a.m. until noon, affecting CTA bus service on the #54 Cicero, #57 Laramie,#66 Chicago and
#85 Central routes.

Southbound #54 Cicero buses will operate on Cicero to August, Kilpatrick, Chicago and back to Cicero to resume the regular route. Northbound service is not affected.

Northbound #57 Laramie buses will operate on Laramie to Chicago, Cicero, Division and back to Laramie to resume the regular route. Southbound #57 Laramie buses will operate on Laramie to Division, Central, Chicago and back to Laramie to resume the regular route.

Westbound #66 Chicago buses will operate on Chicago to Cicero, Division, Central and back to Chicago to resume the regular route. Eastbound service is not affected.

Northbound #85 Central buses will operate on Central to Chicago, Austin, Augusta and back to Central to resume the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

Jackson Closed for Helicopter Lift on Sunday
Jackson between Clark and Wells will be closed on Sunday, July 29 from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Eastbound #126 Jackson and #151 Sheridan buses will operate on Jackson to Franklin, Monroe, Clark and back to Jackson to resume the regular route.

Westbound #126 Jackson and #151 Sheridan buses will operate on Adams to Dearborn, Madison, Wacker and back to Adams to resume the regular route.

#7 Harrison Route Adjustment Begins Tuesday
In order to provide more efficient service, CTA's #7 Harrison route will begin operating on Paulina between Polk and Harrison instead of Ashland beginning Tuesday, August 1. The
#7 Harrison will operate in both directions between Polk, Paulina and Harrison then resume the regular route.
