Pilsen Streets Closed for Fiesta del Sol until MondayFiesta del Sol has closed several streets in the Pilsen neighborhood until noon Monday, July 28. Affected streets are Cermak between Throop and Morgan; and Allport, Racine and May between 21st and Cermak. #21 Cermak buses will operate in both directions via Throop, 18th, Morgan, back to Cermak then resume the regular route. Additional buses will be provided on the #21 route Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
Jackson Closed for Carnival until MondayJackson is closed between Menard and Austin for the New 29th Ward Carnival. Closures will be in effect Saturday, July 26 from noon until 11:59 p.m. On Sunday, July 27, the closure will be in effect from noon until 6 a.m. Monday, July 28. #126 Jackson buses will operate in both directions via Central, Madison, Austin back to Jackson then resume the regular route.
Sewer Work Closes Addison until August 2Addison is closed at Bell for sewer construction. The work should be completed by Saturday, August 2. #152 Addison buses will operate in both directions via Western, Roscoe, Damen, back to Addison then resume the regular route. Note: This section of Addison will be open for Cubs games July 29, 30 and 31.
Construction Closes 103rd until the End of SeptemberStreet reconstruction has closed the eastbound lanes of 103rd Street between Dauphin and Cottage Grove. The closure is expected to last until September 30.#106 East 103rd buses will operate eastbound via King Drive, 107th, Cottage Grove, back to 103rd then resume the regular route.
18th Street Closes for Ongoing Cermak (Douglas) Blue Line RenovationDue to the ongoing renovation of the Cermak (Douglas) Branch of the Blue Line, 18th will be closed between Paulina and Wood from 3 a.m. Saturday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. #18 16th/18th buses will operate in both directions via Ashland, Cermak, Damen, back to 18th then resume the regular route.
Extra Bus Service Provided for Concert at Hawthorne Race CourseThe Summer Sanitarium Tour Concert will take place at Hawthorne Race Course from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday. More frequent service on the #54B South Cicero bus route will be provided during the afternoon and evening between the Orange Line and Cermak. Buses will be staged outside the facility on Cicero to provide later service to take the crowds home northbound to Cermak for connections to the Burlington Northern rail line and southbound to the Orange Line.
Montrose Avenue and Simmons Drive Closed for Race and Festival Sunday MorningThe Fleet Feet Sports Women's 5K, 10K Races and Festival will close Montrose east of Lake Shore Drive and Simmons Drive at Montrose Harbor between 7 a.m. and noon on Sunday. During the event, #78 Montrose buses will not travel to Montrose Beach, they will only go as far as Montrose and Marine Drive.
Extra Bus Service Provided for Shania Twain Concert Sunday EveningA free concert by Shania Twain will take place Sunday at Hutchinson Field in Grant Park from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Sunday. More frequent afternoon and evening service will be provided on the #130 Grant Park Treasures bus route between Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Grant Park. There also will be more frequent afternoon and evening service on the #146 Marine/Michigan Express bus route between State and Lake and Grant Park. Before the concert, buses from both routes will drop customers off eastbound at Roosevelt and Indiana. After the concert, buses providing later service to take the crowds home will be staged northbound on Michigan north of Roosevelt.
Sewer Work Closes 16th Street and Central Park Beginning MondaySewer Work will close 16th Street between Central Park and Millard from Monday, July 28 until Friday, August 15. #18 16th/18th buses will operate eastbound via Pulaski, Cermak, Ogden, Central Park, back to 16th then resume the regular route. #18 buses will operate westbound via Kedzie, Ogden, Cermak, Pulaski, back to 16th then resume the regular route.
Central Park also will be closed southbound only at 16th until Friday, August 1. #82 Kimball/Homan buses will operate southbound via Roosevelt, Kedzie, Ogden, back to Central Park then resume the regular route.
Sewer Work Closes Devon Beginning MondaySewer construction will close Devon at Richmond from Monday, July 28 until Tuesday, August 26. #155 Devon buses will operate in both directions via Kedzie, Lincoln, Peterson, California, back to Devon then resume the regular route.
Movie Filming Closes 79th Street until Mid-September Beginning TuesdayThe filming of ?Barbershop 2? will close 79th Street between Escanaba and Exchange intermittently for 16 days between Tuesday, July 29 until Wednesday, September 17. On the affected dates, the closures will occur from approximately 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. #79 79th buses will be rerouted in both directions via Yates, 75th, South Shore Drive and back to 79th then resume the regular route. Due to weather and other circumstances, these dates are subject to change.
