EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF JULY 18 - 20

Orange and Green Line Trains Travel Faster on Harrison CurveOrange and Green Line trains are now traveling at 35 mph along the newly straightened Harrison Curve. Prior to the work, trains were limited to speeds of 10 mph.

Repairs Close Polk at Blue Line Station Polk Street will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday while repairs are made at the Polk Station on the Cermak (Douglas) Branch of the Blue Line. #X21 Cermak Express buses will operate in both directions via Damen, Roosevelt, Ashland, I-290 then resume the regular route. #37 Sedgwick/Ogden buses will operate in both directions via Damen, Roosevelt, Ashland, Taylor then resume the regular route.

Festival Closes King Drive and 47th StreetThe ?Bring it on Home to Me Roots Festival? will close King Drive between 46th and 48th Streets from 8 a.m. Friday until 11:59 p.m. Saturday. 47th Street also will be closed between Calumet and Vincennes Saturday from 8 a.m. until11:59 p.m. #3 King Drive buses will operate in both directions via 48th, Prairie, 46th, back to King Drive and resume the regular route. #28 Stony Island buses will operate in both directions via St. Lawrence, 46th, Prairie, back to 47th and resume the regular route. #47 47th buses will operate in both directions via Indiana, 46th, Prairie, back to 47th and resume the regular route.

5K Run/Walk and Party Closes Jackson Friday EveningThe Lifeway Bastille Day 5K Run/Walk and Block Party will close Jackson between Racine and Carpenter from 4 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. Friday. #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted eastbound only via Racine, Madison, Halsted, back to Jackson then resume the regular route.

Festival Closes Clark StreetThe Clark Street Community Festival will close Clark between Newport and Addison from 4 a.m. Saturday until 11:45 p.m. Sunday. #22 Clark buses will operate in both directions via Addison, Sheffield and back to Clark then resume the regular route.

More Frequent Saturday Service on the Red Line Saturday service on the Red Line will be more frequent effective July 19. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. southbound trains from Howard to 95th will operate every 6 minutes instead of every 7 1/2 minutes. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. northbound trains from 95th to Howard will operate every 6 minutes instead of every 7 1/2 minutes.

Central Park Closes for Blue Line ReconstructionCentral Park will be closed between Ogden and Cermak from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for the ongoing renovation of the Cermak (Douglas) Branch of the Blue Line. #82 Kimball/Homan buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Karlov, Ogden, back to Central Park and resume the regular route.

Two Events in Chinatown Close Streets and May Cause Service Delays The Chinatown Summer Fair will close Wentworth between Cermak and 26th Street from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday. The eastbound lanes of Cermak also will be closed between Princeton and Wentworth during the same time period. Westbound Cermak will remain open.

Additionally, Archer will be closed between Princeton and Wentworth from8:15 a.m. until 10 a.m. for the Chinatown 5K Run. The run will begin on Wentworth immediately north of Cermak. It will proceed to 31st, west to Canal, north to 29th, west to Lowe, north to 26th, east to Canal, north to Cermak, east to Archer and northeast to the finish line just west of Wentworth. Buses using these streets during either of these events may experience intermittent delays as traffic is held up, allowing runners to pass.

Kemper 10K Run May Cause Service Delays Sunday MorningThe Kemper 10K Run will take place from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday. The race course will primarily be through Washington Park between King Drive and Cottage Grove, but there may be temporary service disruptions on Stony Island, Cornell and Cottage Grove along the Midway Plaisance as runners pass through those intersections.

Additional Buses Provided for Outdoor Film Festival on Tuesday EveningsThe annual Chicago Outdoor Film Festival takes place in Grant Park on Tuesday evenings until August 26. One additional bus on the #6 Jeffery Express, #146 Marine/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan routes will be available to take customers home after the film each week. Buses will be parked along northbound Columbus between Jackson and Monroe. Once the buses leave Grant Park, they will make all of their normal stops.

Jackson Closes for Carnival Beginning WednesdayJackson will be closed between Menard and Austin for the New 29th Ward Carnival. Closures will be in effect Wednesday, July 23 through Friday, July 25 from 5 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 26 the closures will be in effect from noon until 11:59 p.m. On Sunday, July 27, the closure will be in effect from noon until 6 a.m. Monday, July 28. #126 Jackson buses will operate in both directions via Central, Madison, Austin back to Jackson then resume the regular route.

Pilsen Streets Close for Fiesta del Sol Beginning WednesdayFiesta del Sol will close several streets in the Pilsen neighborhood from 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 until noon Monday, July 28. Affected streets are Cermak between Throop and Morgan; and Alport, Racine and May between 21st and Cermak. #21 Cermak buses will operate in both directions via Throop, 18th, Morgan, back to Cermak then resume the regular route. Additional buses will be provided on the #21 route next Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
