Bike Ride Closes 103rd Street Friday Evening103rd Street will be closed between Hoyne and Wood from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the Beverly Area Planning Association's Annual Beverly Hills Cycling Classic bike ride on Friday. #103 West 103rd buses will be rerouted in both directions via Beverly, 99th, Western, back to 103rd and resume the regular route.
Folk and Roots Fest Closes Lincoln Friday Evening through SundayThe Old Town School of Folk Music's Annual Folk and Roots Fest in Welles Park will close Lincoln between Montrose and Sunnyside from 6 p.m. Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. #11 Lincoln buses will operate in both directions via Montrose, Western, back to Lincoln and resume the regular route.
Fairbanks Closes for Crane LiftFairbanks will be closed between Huron and Superior from 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday while a crane lifts equipment to the roof of the Northwestern University Lurie Research Center. Southbound #3 King Drive buses will operate via Chicago, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Ontario and back to Fairbanks and resume the regular route. Northbound #3 buses will operate via Erie, Inner Lake Shore Drive, back to Chicago and resume the regular route.
Southbound #66 Chicago buses will operate via Superior, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Ontario, back to Fairbanks and resume the regular route. Northbound #66 buses will operate via Erie, Inner Lake Shore Drive, back to Chicago and then resume the regular route.
Main Drive at Museum of Science & Industry Closed for Car RaceThe main drive of the Museum of Science & Industry will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for the Solar Car Challenge Race. During the race, #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #55 Garfield buses will terminate in the museum's west parking lot.
Street Fair Closes Halsted SaturdayHalsted will be closed between 67th and 69th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for the K.I.D.S. Zone Festival. #8 Halsted buses will operate in both directions via 69th, Morgan, 67th, back to Halsted and resume the regular route.
Damen and Central Park Close for Blue Line ReconstructionDamen will be closed between Cullerton and 21st Street due to the ongoing renovation of the Cermak (Douglas) Branch of the Blue Line from 6 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday. #50 Damen buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Ashland, 18th, back to Damen and resume the regular route.
Central Park will be closed between Ogden and Cermak from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday. #82 Kimball/Homan buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Karlov, Ogden, back to Central Park and resume the regular route.
Harrison Curve Track Work Affects Orange and Green Line Trains Sunday MorningTrack work along Harrison Curve will cause Orange Line trains to be rerouted via the Red Line subway from 5:35 a.m. until noon. Trains operating from Midway will run along the regular route to Halsted station. After Halsted, they will enter the Red Line subway, making all stops between Roosevelt and Grand.
Customers in the Loop who want to connect to southbound trains to Midway should board Orange Line trains at Lake, Washington, Monroe or Jackson Red Line subway stations. Customers traveling north on the Orange Line who need to connect to Green or Brown Line trains should exit Orange Line trains at the Lake Red Line subway station and transfer to Green or Brown Line trains at the State and Lake elevated station. A shuttle train will circle the Loop elevated line making all Loop stops.
Green Line trains will operate on a single track between Roosevelt Station and Van Buren and Wabash (Loop stations are not affected) from 7 a.m. until noon. Customers boarding at Roosevelt should board trains on the southbound platform.
Customer Assistants will be available to assist customers while the work is taking place.
5K Run May Cause Bus Service Delays Sunday MorningThe 7th Annual Chris Zorich Foundation 5K Run/Walk will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday in and around Dearborn Station at 47 West Polk. The course will start at Dearborn and Harrison, continue west to Clark, south to Archer, northeast to Federal, north to 19th, west to Clark, north to Polk and east to the finish line at Dearborn. Buses using these streets may experience intermittent delays during the run.
Earlier Weekend Purple Line Service Begins SundayPurple Line trains between Linden and Howard will operate 30 minutes earlier on weekends starting Sunday, July 13. Saturday trains will depart Howard starting at 5:10 a.m. and Linden beginning at 5:28 a.m. Sunday service will depart Howard beginning at 6:05 a.m. and Linden beginning at 6:26 a.m.
More Frequent Evening Brown Line Service Begins SundayEvening service on the Brown Line will operate more frequently from downtown effective Sunday, July 13. Weekdays between 10:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. trains will operate every 7 1/2 minutes instead of every 10 minutes. Saturdays between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. trains will operate every 7 1/2 minutes instead of every 10 minutes. Sundays between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. trains will operate every 10 minutes instead of every 15 minutes.
More Frequent Weekday Blue Line Service Begins MondayWeekday service on the Blue Line will be more frequent between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. effective Monday, July 14. Trains will operate every 5 to 6 minutes instead of every 7 1/2 minutes between the O'Hare branch and downtown. Trains will operate every 10 to 12 minutes instead of every 15 minutes between the Forest Park and Cermak (Douglas) branches and downtown.
Extra Service Provided for All-Star Game and Related ActivitiesAdditional service will be provided on the #35 35th bus route for the All-Star Game at U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday, July 15. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. #35 buses run on 35th Street between Kedzie and Cottage Grove until 1:25 a.m. Red Line trains will operate with eight cars.
CTA also will provide additional service on the #35 route and longer Red Line trains for activities at U.S. Cellular Field the two days prior to the game: The All-Star Futures game will take place on Sunday, July 13 at 4:30 p.m. and the Home Run Derby will take place on Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m.
Additional Buses Provided for Outdoor Film Festival on Tuesday EveningsThe annual Outdoor Film Festival will begin in Grant Park on Tuesday evenings from July 15 until August 26. One additional bus on the #6 Jeffery Express, #146 Marine/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan routes will be available to take customers home after the film each week. Buses will be parked along northbound Columbus between Jackson and Monroe. Once the buses leave Grant Park, they will make all of their normal stops.
