Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of July 1 - 3

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule Monday, July 4, in commemoration of Independence Day.

Additional Service Provided for Taste of ChicagoVisitors to Taste of Chicago in Grant Park through Monday, July 4 will find CTA service the most effective way to travel. Longer trains will operate into the Loop until late every night. Additional buses will be available toward the close of each evening's activities to carry customers home.

More extensive service will be available Sunday evening, July 3 and Monday evening, July 4 for spectators going to Navy Pier or Grant Park to watch the fireworks displays. Customers attending Taste and the fireworks are encouraged to purchase farecards in advance to avoid waiting in lines to purchase cards for their trips in and out of the downtown area.

#14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local Buses Resume Normal Routing Beginning SundaySewer construction on Jeffery between 87th and 93rd Streets has ended. #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses will return to their normal routing beginning at 5 a.m. Sunday, July 3.

State Street Closes for Construction Beginning TuesdayState Street will be closed northbound only between 91st and 87th Streets from 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 5 through Tuesday, August 2. Northbound #29 State buses will operate via State, 91st, Indiana, 87th, back to State, then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Northbound Red Line Platforms Beginning TuesdayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place in various locations each night from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 5 through Thursday, July 7. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at the Bryn Mawr, Thorndale and Granville stations Tuesday night. During these hours, customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Loyola station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations.

During the same hours Wednesday night, July 6 northbound trains will not stop at the Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations. Customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Howard station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations.

During the same hours Thursday night, July 7, northbound trains will not stop at the Morse and Jarvis stations. Customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Howard station and board a southbound train back to those stations.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Two Southbound Red Line Platforms Beginning TuesdayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place from 10:30 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Tuesday night, July 5 through Friday night, July 8. As a result, southbound trains will not stop at the Argyle and Lawrence stations. During these hours, customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Wilson station and transfer to northbound trains back to those stations.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekDue to track maintenance on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 69th and 63rd Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Tuesday night, July 5 through Thursday night, July 7.

33rd Street Entrance at Sox-35th Red Line Station Temporarily Closed for Renovations As part of the ongoing renovation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, the 33rd Street entrance is closed until late October of this year. Customers are encouraged to use the 35th Street entrance to the station while the work is completed.

26th Street Closed for Railroad Viaduct Repairs 26th Street is closed between Kostner and Ogden until Tuesday, November 1. #60 Blue Island buses are operating in both directions via 26th, Kostner, Ogden, back to 26th, then resuming the regular route.

Lake Red Line Subway Entrance Temporarily Closed for RenovationsThe Lake Street station entrance to the Red Line is temporarily closed and is only available as an exit until late summer. Customers are encouraged to use the adjacent Red Line subway station entrance at Washington.

Trains continue to stop at the Lake Street subway station during all hours.Customers who wish to exit at the north end of the Lake station should walk north and use the newly renovated stairway. They also may enter and exit at the Randolph/Washington exit at the south end of the station.
