Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of January 20 - 22

Michigan Avenue Bridge over Chicago River Temporarily Closes
The Michigan Avenue bridge over the Chicago River will temporarily close Thursday, January 19 from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday, January 20 for maintenance work.

Northbound #3 King Drive, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will operate via Michigan to Wacker, State, Ohio, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route.

Southbound buses will operate via Michigan to Ontario, State, Lake, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route.

CTA's #19 Express Buses Serve Rolling Stones Concerts Next Week
The Chicago Transit Authority will operate its #19 United Center Express buses for the Rolling Stones concerts Monday, January 23 and Wednesday, January 25.

The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center. #19 buses will begin their trips south on Michigan from Chicago Avenue at 5:35 p.m. Buses will operate every 12 minutes until the last bus leaves Michigan/Chicago at 7:50 p.m. (See separate release.)

Brown Line Capacity Expansion:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour, and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Structural Maintenance Temporarily Closes Northbound Brown Line Platforms Over Weekend
Structural maintenance will temporarily close the northbound platform at the Diversey and Wellington stations from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21 and at Diversey only from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 22.

As a result, during these hours, northbound Brown Line trains will not stop at the Diversey or Wellington stations on Saturday and at Diversey on Sunday. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Diversey or Wellington will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations.

Northbound customers who wish to board at Wellington and Diversey will need to board a southbound train at these stations and exit at Fullerton to board a northbound train.

Additionally, Diversey Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 22. #76 Diversey buses will operate in both directions via Diversey, Sheffield, Belmont, Clark, back to Diversey, then resume the regular route.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect Beginning Thursday
Single track service will be in effect northbound between 87th and 79th from 11 p.m. Thursday, January 19 until 4 a.m. Friday, January 20 and again in the same location, during the same hours Monday, January 23 to Tuesday, January 24.

Single Track in Effect Over Weekend
Single track service will be in effect northbound between Garfield and 33rd from 8 p.m. Friday, January 20 until 8 a.m. Saturday, January 21 and again southbound in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday, January 21 until noon Sunday, January 22.

Late Night Single Track in Effect Next Week
Single track service will be in effect southbound between 79th and 87th from 11 p.m. Tuesday, January 24 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, January 25 and again in the same location, during the same hours Wednesday, January 25 and Thursday, January 27.
