EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 6 - 8

CTA Provides Convenient Service for the 2004 Chicago Auto Show The Chicago Transit Authority will serve the 2004 Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place South with accessible buses on three CTA routes from Friday, February 6 through Sunday, February 15 at all hours the show is open. Service will begin one hour before the show opens with the last bus leaving McCormick Place one hour after the show ends each day.

These buses will operate to McCormick Place directly from Metra stations west of the Loop, from downtown, from North Michigan Avenue, and from the South and West Sides. Customers can transfer to these buses from other bus routes and from all 'L' and subway lines serving downtown.

Lake Street Bridge over the Chicago River Closed for RepairsThe Lake Street bridge over the Chicago River is closed for repairs weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. until Saturday, February 14. This closure will affect some morning and afternoon rush period #125 Water Tower Express buses. Affected trips will operate northbound via Canal, Washington to Wacker then resume the regular route. Southbound trips will operate via Wacker, Randolph, to Clinton then resume the regular route.

Division Bridge over the Chicago River Closed for Repairs The Division Street bridge over the Chicago River North Branch Canal at 829 West Division is closed for repairs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday each week through the end of February. #70 Division buses are operating in both directions via Elston, Milwaukee, Chicago, Halsted, back to Division then resume the regular route.

Helicopter Lifts Close Several Streets Sunday MorningA series of six helicopter lifts to the roof of Harold Washington College, 30 East Lake Street will cause several street closures from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday morning. The following closures will be in effect during the lifts: Wacker Drive between State and Michigan, Wacker Place between State and Michigan, Lake between State and Michigan, and Wabash between Randolph and Kinzie.

The State/Lake elevated station will be closed during the entire two-hour period and Orange, Green and Brown Line Loop rail service will experience temporary and intermittent delays. While the helicopter is hovering over the building, northbound Brown Line and westbound Green Line trains will be held at the Randolph/Wabash station and southbound Orange Line and Green Line trains will be held at the track intersection at Lake and Wells. CTA rail staff will direct trains to proceed between lifts once the helicopter has cleared the airspace over the elevated structure. Customers are asked to allow themselves additional travel time.

Additionally, bus service will be affected. Southbound #126 Jackson buses will operate via Michigan, Wacker, Randolph, back to State then resume the regular route. Northbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate via State, Washington, back to Michigan then resume the regular route.
