EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF DECEMBER 31 – JANUARY 2

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year's Day, Saturday, January 1.

CTA Provides Convenient Rail Service to Both Chicago AirportsCTA service to both Chicago airports provides holiday travelers with reliable and economical transportation throughout the holiday period. Air travel is expected to be heavy through Sunday, January 2.

Air travelers can reach O'Hare Airport on the Blue Line in 45 minutes from stations in the Dearborn subway downtown, where customers can make free connections from all other 'L' lines serving the Loop. Also, customers can transfer to the Blue Line from most east-west bus routes between Grand and Foster, and from most north-south routes.

Orange Line trains serve Midway Airport and make the trip from the Loop 'L' downtown to the airport in approximately 30 minutes. As with the Blue Line, customers can make free connections to Orange Line trains from other 'L' lines downtown, and customers can transfer to the Orange Line from most bus routes serving the Southwest Side.

Penny Rides Offered on New Year's EveThe Chicago Transit Authority will continue its tradition of offering penny rides on New Year's Eve. Riding CTA buses and trains will cost only a penny from 8 p.m. New Year's Eve Friday, December 31, until 6 a.m. New Year's Day Saturday, January 1.

People celebrating New Year's Eve, whether as employees working at Navy Pier and other events or those out enjoying the holiday, can count on CTA to get them home safely and at later hours.

Additionally, several bus and rail routes will provide later service, making CTA an even more convenient, safe and affordable option for New Year's Eve revelers.

Additional Service Provided for Bears Game on SundayCTA will provide additional service on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus routes for the Bears game against the Green Bay Packers at noon on Sunday. Additional service will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

CTA's #128 Soldier Field Express route also will operate between the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Soldier Field beginning at 10:25 a.m. and continue until 1 ? hours after the game ends.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Monday through Next ThursdayDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 69th and 63rd Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night Monday, January 3 through Thursday, January 6.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Grand Closes for Electrical Work Monday and TuesdayGrand will be closed between Kingsbury and Orleans from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 3 and again from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 4. Eastbound #65 Grand buses will operate via Grand, Kingsbury, Illinois, Orleans, back to Grand, then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.
