Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of August 5 - 7

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to track maintenance on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between Garfield and 69th from 8 p.m. Friday, August 5 until 8 a.m. Saturday, August 6. Single track service will be in effect southbound between 45th and 63rd Streets from 8 p.m. Saturday, August 6 until noon Sunday, August 7.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekSingle track service will be in effect northbound between 63rd and Garfield from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, August 8 and Tuesday night, August 9 and southbound in the same location during the same hours Wednesday night, August 10 and Thursday night, August 11.

Maintenance Temporarily Closes Southbound Red Line Platform over the WeekendPlatform maintenance will temporarily close the southbound platform at the Garfield station on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 6 and from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 7. As a result southbound customers who wish to exit at Garfield will need to travel to 63rd and transfer to northbound trains back to Garfield.

Chicago Avenue Closed for Sewer Work Chicago Avenue is closed between Sacramento and Kedzie until 5 p.m. Friday, August 5. Westbound #66 Chicago buses are operating via Chicago, Grand, Kedzie, back to Chicago, then resuming the regular route. Eastbound service is not affected.

Southbound #52 Kedzie/California buses are operating via Chicago, Grand, back to Kedzie, then resuming the regular route.

Halsted Closes for Market Days Beginning SaturdayHalsted will be closed between Belmont and Addison from 3 a.m. Saturday, August 6 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 8. #8 Halsted buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, Clark, Sheffield, Addison, back to Halsted, then resume the regular route.

Northbound #151 Sheridan buses with Sheridan/Belmont destination signs will operate via Belmont, Clark, Halsted to Belmont where they will begin their southbound trips.

Bus Terminal Temporarily Closes for Cell Phone Tower Repairs Beginning SaturdayThe CTA bus terminal at Madison/Austin will temporarily be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, August 6 until 6 p.m. Monday, August 8. Westbound #20 Madison buses will operate via Madison, Austin to Jackson where they will begin their eastbound trips via Austin, to Madison, then resume the regular route.

Single Track in Effect on the Purple Line SaturdayDue to track maintenance on the Purple Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between Linden and Milburn from 6:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, August 6.

Vincennes Closes for Street Construction SaturdayVincennes will be closed between 69th and 70th Streets from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, August 6. Eastbound #71 71st/South Shore buses will operate via Vincennes, Lafayette to 71st, then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.

Structure Maintenance Temporarily Closes Addison Platform and Stairway on the Brown Line SundayStructure maintenance will temporarily close the southbound Addison platform and stairway on the Brown Line from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, August 7. As a result southbound trains will not stop at Addison. Southbound customers who wish to exit at Addison will need to travel to the Paulina station and transfer to northbound trains back to Addison.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Two Northbound Red Line Platforms Beginning SundayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Sunday night, August 7 through Thursday night, August 11. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at the Morse and Jarvis stations. During these hours, customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Howard station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations.

Viaduct Reconstruction Causes Reroute Due to the reconstruction of the viaduct at 130th/Indiana, #34 South Michigan buses are being detoured through Tuesday, November 1. #34 buses are operating in both directions via Michigan, 115th, Bishop Ford Freeway, 130th to Eberhardt, then resuming the regular route.

Additionally, for customers who need to travel south of 115th/Michigan, a shuttle bus is operating in both directions on Michigan between 111th and 127th Streets. Customers may board the shuttle buses on Michigan at any bus stop between 111th and 127th Streets.

Kiss & Ride Drop Off / Pick-Up Point Temporarily Closed for Reconstruction The CTA is constructing a new Park & Ride facility adjacent to the Harlem station on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line. During the first two weeks of construction, the drive in front of the station often used as a drop off and pick up point to the station will be closed. The drive will re-open in mid-August while the construction on the Park & Ride lot continues.

Gale and Higgins Closed for Sewer Work The intersection of Gale/Higgins is closed until 6 a.m. Monday, August 8. #85 Central buses are operating in both directions via Gale, Lester, Edmunds to Central, then resuming the regular route.

#88 Higgins buses are operating in both directions via Gale, Lester, Edmunds to Higgins, then resuming the regular route.

Racine Closed for Street Reconstruction Racine is closed between Arthington and Roosevelt from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays until Thursday, September 1. #60 Blue Island/26th buses are operating in both directions via Roosevelt, Loomis to Harrison, then resuming the regular route.

Division Closes for Farmers Market on Saturdays through October 22Division will be closed between State and Clark for the Near North Farmers Market from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. each Saturday through October 22. Southbound #36 Broadway buses will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to State, then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will operate via State, Elm back to Clark, then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to Dearborn, then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.

33rd Street Entrance at Sox-35th Red Line Station Temporarily Closed for Renovations As part of the ongoing renovation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, the 33rd Street entrance is closed until late October of this year. Customers are encouraged to use the 35th Street entrance to the station while the work is completed.

26th Street Closed for Railroad Viaduct Repairs 26th Street is closed between Kostner and Ogden until Tuesday, November 1. #60 Blue Island buses are operating in both directions via 26th, Kostner, Ogden, back to 26th, then resuming the regular route.

Lake Red Line Subway Entrance Temporarily Closed for RenovationsThe Lake Street station entrance to the Red Line is temporarily closed and is available as an exit only until late summer. Customers are encouraged to use the adjacent Red Line subway station entrance at Washington.

Trains continue to stop at the Lake Street subway station during all hours.Customers who wish to exit at the north end of the Lake station should walk north and use the newly renovated stairway. They also may enter and exit at the Randolph/Washington exit at the south end of the station.
