Jackson Closed for Lollapalooza Festival Over Weekend
Jackson and Balbo are closed between Columbus and Lake Shore Drive for the Lollapalooza festival in Grant Park Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6. Buses on the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #26 South Shore Express, #X28 Stony Island Express and #130 Grant Park Treasures routes will be rerouted to adjacent streets. Customers should allow extra travel time.
CTA Providing More Frequent Service for Tall Ships Chicago through August 9
The Chicago Transit Authority is providing more frequent bus service for the Tall Ships Festival in Chicago through Wednesday, August 9.
More frequent weekday service will be provided to and from Navy Pier during the Tall Ships event hours each day between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier bus routes. In addition to more frequent weekday service, on the #65 Grand route, more frequent weekend service will be provided and later weekday service will be provided until 9 p.m. from Navy Pier.
Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Thursday
A single track will be in effect between 33rd and 45th from 11 p.m. Thursday, August 3 until 4 a.m. Friday, August 4. North and southbound customers boarding at the Sox-35th station must board on the west side of the platform.
Single Track in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between 33rd and Garfield from 8 p.m. Friday, August 4 until 8 a.m. Saturday, August 5 and again in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday, August 5 until noon Sunday, August 6. North and southbound customers boarding at the Sox-35th and 47th stations must board on the west side of the platform.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 33rd and 45th from 11 p.m. Monday, August 7 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, August 8 and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
During the single tracks, north and southbound customers boarding at the Sox-35th station must board on the east side of the platform.
Blue Line Signal Upgrade:
CTA is working to upgrade approximately 20 miles of the existing 40-year-old train control system and power supply equipment from the Forest Park terminal of the Blue Line Forest Park branch through the Dearborn subway to the Jefferson Park station of the Blue Line O'Hare branch.
These systems ensure the safe operation and movement of trains and the appropriate speed and distance between trains as well as help CTA personnel manage rail service in the event of an emergency.
The upgraded signal system will result in improved reliability of service for Blue Line customers, and also includes upgrades to the power cables and communication system needed to connect the Red Line State Street subway and Blue Line Dearborn Street subway.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch Thursday
A single track will be in effect between Forest Park and Lathrop from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, August 3 until 3:30 a.m. Friday, August 4. North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park station must board on the north side of the platform.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch This Weekend
A three-phase single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Cicero stations Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5.
From 11 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday, the single track will be in effect between the Austin and Cicero stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Austin station must board on the north side of the platform.
From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday, the single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Cicero stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Oak Park and Austin stations must board on the north side of the platform.
From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, the single track will be in effect between the Austin and Cicero stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Austin station must board on the north side of the platform.
A single track will be in effect between the Austin and Cicero stations from 11 p.m. Saturday, August 5 until 10 a.m. Sunday, August 6. North and southbound customers boarding at the Austin station must board on the south side of the platform.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour and accessible, modern stations and platforms.
Throughout the Brown Line construction project, slow zones and single track operation are periodically necessary near construction activity so, as a general rule, rail customers should allow extra travel time.
Single Track in Effect on Brown Line Sunday
A two-phase single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Merchandise Mart stations on the Brown Line Sunday, August 6.
From 7 a.m. to noon, the single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Chicago stations. North and southbound customers boarding at Sedgwick must board on the south platform and customers boarding at Chicago must board on the west platform.
From 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., the single track will be in effect in the same location, however north and southbound customers boarding at Sedgwick must board on the north platform and customers boarding at Chicago must board on the east platform.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
Single Track in Red Line Subway for Maintenance Sunday Night
A single track will be in effect between 15th and Grand on the Red Line from 9 p.m. Sunday, August 6 until 4:30 a.m. Monday, August 7. North and southbound customers boarding at Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Lake on the Red Line must board on the east side of the platform.
Street Closures for Family Christian Parade Saturday
Fullerton, Central and Diversey will be closed from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 5 for the Family Christian Parade. The parade will affect the #74 Fullerton, #85 Central and #91 Austin bus routes.
#74 buses will operate in both directions via Fullerton, Narragansett, Grand, Central and Fullerton, then resume the regular route.
#85 buses will operate in both directions via Central, Diversey, Laramie, Fullerton and Central, then resume the regular route.
#91 buses will operate in both directions via Austin, Diversey, Laramie, Fullerton, Central, Grand and Austin, then resume the regular route.
Halsted Closes for Market Days Beginning Saturday
Halsted will be closed between Belmont and Addison from 3 a.m. Saturday, August 5 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 7. #8 Halsted buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, Clark, Sheffield, Addison and Halsted, then resume the regular route.
Northbound #151 Sheridan buses destined for Belmont (not those destined for Howard) will operate via Belmont, Clark, Halsted to Belmont before beginning southbound trips following the same routing.
Laramie Closed for Water Main Work through August 4
Laramie is closed for water main work at Grand from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. through Friday, August 4. #57 Laramie buses are operating in both directions via Laramie, North, Cicero, Grand and Laramie, then resume the regular route.
Lafayette Closed for Construction through August 4
Lafayette is closed for construction between 75th and 76th from 6 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. through Friday, August 4. Southbound #29 State buses are operating via Lafayette, 75th, Vincennes, 76th, back to Lafayette, then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #75 74th/75th buses are operating via Lafayette, Vincennes, 76th, back to Lafayette, then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are operating via Lafayette, 75th, Vincennes, 76th, back to Lafayette, then resume the regular route.
115th and Keeler Bus Terminal Temporarily Closed for Construction through August 25
The 115th and Keeler bus terminal at Marist High School is temporarily closed for construction at the school through Friday, August 25. Customers wishing to board or exit #52A South Kedzie and #53A South Pulaski buses at the terminal must board or exit at 115th and Springfield.
