Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 87th and 95th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday and again northbound in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Monday through Next WednesdaySingle track service will be in effect northbound between 79th and 69th Streets from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, August 16 and Tuesday night, August 17. Single track service also will be in effect southbound at the same location from 11 p.m. Tuesday, August 17 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, August 18.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceDue to the Dan Ryan Red Line reconstruction, CTA trains will begin using by-pass tracks between 92nd and 96th Streets this weekend. The by-pass tracks will be in place until early October.
CTA trains continue to use by-pass tracks between 30th and 34th Streets until late August.
Customers will continue to board trains at their normal stations.
Speed Restrictions and Single Track Service in Effect on the Brown and Purple LinesSpeed restrictions are in effect on the Brown and Purple Lines in both directions at the Chicago/Franklin station and for an additional 300-feet north and south of the station while the elevated structure at the location is being repaired. Trains will operate through the area at 15 mph until further notice.
As a result of repairs being made to the structure, single track service will be in effect between Sedgwick station and the Merchandise Mart from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 14. Trains will operate every 15 minutes with six cars instead of every 7? minutes with four cars between Kimball and the Loop.
Chicago/Franklin Structure Repair Work Closes Chicago Avenue SaturdayChicago Avenue will be closed between Wells and Orleans from 3:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Eastbound #66 Chicago buses will operate via Chicago, Orleans, Superior, LaSalle, back to Chicago, then resume the regular route. Westbound service will operate via Chicago, LaSalle, Huron, Orleans, back to Chicago, then resume the regular route.
Additional Service Provided for Bud Billiken Parade SaturdayAdditional service will be provided on four CTA bus routes (#3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #15 Jeffery Local and #55 Garfield) for spectators attending the annual Bud Billiken Parade Saturday.
Service on two of those routes (#3 and #55) will be detoured to adjacent streets around the immediate parade area.
Three other bus routes (#15, #43 43rd and #47 47th) will be divided into two sections to serve the parade as they will not be permitted to cross King Drive during the parade.
King Drive will be closed between 35th and Garfield beginning at 7 a.m. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and run until approximately 4 p.m. before disbanding in Washington Park. Detours may begin as early as 6 a.m. at the direction of the Chicago Police Department based on traffic volume in the area. King Drive is expected to remain closed until late Saturday afternoon.
There also will be longer trains operating on the Green Line.
Additional Service Provided for Soccer Game at Soldier Field Saturday Night Additional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus routes serving Soldier Field for a soccer game between the Chicago Fire and Colorado Rapids Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Additional service will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.
Crane Lift Closes Sheridan Road SundayA crane lift at 6250 North Sheridan will close the two southbound and one of the northbound lanes of Sheridan between Granville and Rosemont from 5 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday. Southbound #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will operate via Sheridan, Broadway, Hollywood, back to Sheridan, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.
Bus Terminal at North Avenue Beach Closes for the Air and Water Show Beginning MondayThe bus terminal at North Avenue Beach will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, August 16 for set-up of the annual Air and Water Show next weekend. The terminal will remain closed until 3 p.m. Monday, August 23, #72 North buses will use the bus terminal at North/Clark during this time.
State and Lafayette Close for Dan Ryan Expressway Construction MondayLafayette will be closed southbound between 79th and 83rd Streets from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, August 16. Southbound #29 State buses will operate via Lafayette, 79th, Vincennes, 83rd, back to Lafeyette, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.
State will be closed northbound between 83rd and 79th Streets from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday. Northbound #29 buses will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes, 79th, back to State, then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.
Lunt Closes at Ridge for Sewer Work Beginning MondayLunt will be closed at Ridge Monday, August 16 through Friday, August 27. #96 Lunt buses will operate in both directions via Lunt, Clark, Touhy, Western, back to Lunt, then resume the regular route.
Franklin/Orleans Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Maintenance Beginning WednesdayThe Franklin/Orleans bridge over the Chicago River will be closed weekdays only from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 through Tuesday, August 24. The closure may affect some northbound morning and afternoon rush period trips on the #37 Sedgwick/Ogden and #125 Water Tower Express routes. Affected trips will operate via Wacker, LaSalle, Hubbard, back to Orleans, then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.
