Red Line Single Track in Effect Next Monday Through Thursday NightsDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 45th and 33rd Streets Monday and Tuesday nights from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Single track service will be in effect northbound between 79th and 69th Streets Wednesday night from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. and southbound in the same location Thursday night from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Customers should allow additional travel time while the work is being performed.
By-Pass Tracks in ServiceAs part of the work, CTA Red Line trains are using by-pass tracks between 87th and 84th Streets. Customers will continue to board trains at their normal station locations.
55th Street Closed for Metra Viaduct Work 55th Street will be closed eastbound only between LaSalle and State from now until 5 p.m. Friday for viaduct construction on Metra's Rock Island line. Eastbound #55 Garfield and #X55 Garfield Express buses will operate via 55th, Wentworth, 51st, State, back to 55th then resume the regular route. Westbound service and service to the Garfield Red Line station will not be affected.
Helicopter Lifts Close Loop Streets Saturday and SundayA helicopter lifting equipment to the roof of the Palmer House Hotel will close State between Madison and Adams; and Monroe between Wabash and Dearborn from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, and from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sunday. Buses on the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #62 Archer, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express. #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes will be detoured to adjacent streets during the lifts.
#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours To accommodate longer hours at the Museum of Science and Industry, #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate every 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays through this weekend until 5:25 p.m. from Chestnut/Lake Shore Drive to the museum and until 6:10 p.m. from the museum to Chestnut/Lake Shore Drive.
Roosevelt Closes for Sewer Work Beginning MondayRoosevelt Road will be closed westbound at Lytle for sewer work from 7 a.m. Monday, April 12 until 3 p.m. Thursday, April 15. Westbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate via Roosevelt, Morgan, Taylor, Throop, back to Roosevelt then resume the regular route. Eastbound service will not be affected.
59th Street Closes for Metra Work Beginning Monday59th Street will be closed between State and LaSalle from 7 a.m. Monday until Friday, April 30 for construction of concrete abutments. Eastbound #59 59th/61st buses will operate via Wentworth, 55th to 55th Red Line station, Wells, 57th, State, back to 59th then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate via State, 57th, Wentworth, 55th to 55th Red Line Station, Wells, back to 59th then resume the regular route.
