Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Daytime Single Track in Effect at the Logan Square Station on Saturday

Northbound Blue Line trains will operate on a single track between the California and Belmont stations on the O’Hare branch from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, due to cable and signal work.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Logan Square station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Daytime Single Track in Effect at the Belmont and Addison Stations on Sunday

A daytime single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains at the Belmont and Addison stations on the O’Hare branch from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, May 2¸while crews replace portions of the third rail.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Belmont and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Orange Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect between the Midway and Pulaski Stations

Northbound Orange Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Midway and Pulaski stations from 9 p.m. each night until the end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.) on Sunday night, May 2, Monday night, May 3 and Tuesday night, May 4, due to routine track maintenance.
 
During these times, northbound Orange Line customers at the Pulaski station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between the Pulaski and Kedzie Stations

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Orange Line trains between the Pulaski and Kedzie stations from 9 p.m. each night until the end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.) on Wednesday night, May 5 and Thursday night, May 6, due to routine track maintenance.
 
During these times, northbound Orange Line customers at the Kedzie station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Northbound Trains Undergo Single Track at the 35th Street Station Friday Night

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains at the 35th Street station from 11 p.m. Friday, April 30 until 4 a.m. the following morning, while crews make station improvements.
 
Northbound Red Line customers at the 35th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Tracks in Effect Next Week on the 95th/Dan Ryan Branch

Red Line trains operating along the 95th/Dan Ryan branch will undergo late night single tracks beginning Monday night, May 3 through Friday morning, May 7, while crews make station improvements.
 
Monday Night – Southbound at 35th
From 11 p.m. Monday, May 3 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line customers at the 35th Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Tuesday Night – Northbound at 47th  
From 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line customers at the 47th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Wednesday Night – Southbound at 47th
From 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line customers at the 47th Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Thursday Night – Northbound at 79th
From 11 p.m. Thursday, May 6 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line customers at the 79th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Playoff Games

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for fans attending the second round of Stanley Cup playoff games at the United Center between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks on the following dates and times: 
 
  • Game 1 – Saturday, May 1 at 7 p.m.
  • Game 2 – Monday, May 3 at 8 p.m.
  • Game 5 – Sunday, May 9 at 7 p.m.*
  • Game 7 – Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m.*
 
*only if needed
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event until the event begins.  When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
#19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton.  From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After each game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3.  On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

#54B South Cicero Buses Serving St. Laurence High School Temporarily Rerouted

Currently in effect until Wednesday, May 12, a portion of Central Avenue will be closed to all traffic due to railroad track work south of 73rd Street. As a result of this work, #54B South Cicero buses that serve St. Laurence High School will undergo a temporary reroute.
 
Southbound #54B South Cicero buses are traveling over the regular route along Cicero past 73rd Street to State Road and are operating via State, 79th Street to Central before turning northbound at St. Laurence High School. Northbound #54B buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

3-MAJOWKA Festival Detours #81 Lawrence Buses until Late Sunday Night

Currently in effect, Lipps Avenue between Lawrence and Veterans is closed to all traffic until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 2, due to the 3-MAJOWKA Festival.
 
Westbound #81 Lawrence buses are unable to turn onto Lipps Avenue and are instead continuing west on Lawrence past Lipps to Milwaukee and entering the Jefferson Park south terminal from Milwaukee. Eastbound #81 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Jeffery/75th Street

Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound far side bus stop at Jeffery/75th Street temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop due to nearby sidewalk construction. This stop is served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses.
 

#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop at Milwaukee/Diversey Temporarily Relocated

Until further notice, the southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Diversey served by #56 Milwaukee buses temporarily has been relocated to a far side stop due to falling façade pieces from a nearby building.
 

Viaduct Construction Work Temporarily Detours #44 Wallace/Racine Buses

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, May 7, Wallace at 41st Street is closed to all traffic due to viaduct construction work.
 
Northbound #44 Wallace/Racine buses are operating over the regular route along Wallace to 41st Street then traveling via 41st Street, Halsted, 39th Street to Wallace and resuming the regular route. Southbound #44 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Saturday’s Run to Remember Detours #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express Buses

From 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, May 1, Museum Campus Drive from Waldron to McFetridge and Solidarity Drive will be closed to all traffic due to the annual Run to Remember.
 
During this time, southbound #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will not be able to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive. Buses instead will operate over the regular route along Columbus, east on McFetridge to the south side of the Field Museum. Northbound #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

Annual May Day March Detours Nine CTA Bus Routes Saturday Afternoon

Beginning at noon on Saturday, May 1, participants in the annual May Day Immigration March will begin assembling at Union Park (adjacent to the Ashland/Lake Pink and Green line station). The parade will step off at 3 p.m. and proceed east on Washington to Daley Plaza.
 
In anticipation of large crowds participating in the march, the following nine CTA bus routes intermittently will be detoured to adjacent streets beginning at approximately 2:15 p.m.:

#62 Archer
#14 Jeffery Express

Polish Constitution Day Parade in Grant Park Detours Buses on Saturday

On Saturday, May 1 from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Congress Plaza and Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Monroe will be closed for the Polish Constitution Day Parade. Participants will assemble on Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo beginning at 7 a.m. The parade will step off at 11:30 a.m. and proceed north from Columbus/Balbo to Monroe.
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #14 Jeffery Express buses will travel over their regular routes along Columbus to Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt to Michigan and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #6, #10 and #14 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will operate over the regular route along Michigan to Harrison then will travel via Harrison to Wabash before turning to begin westbound service. From Harrison/Wabash westbound #126 buses will operate via Wabash, Balbo, Michigan to Harrison then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #147 Outer Drive Express buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Harrison then will operate via Harrison to Wabash before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #147 buses will depart from Harrison/Wabash and travel via Harrison to State and resume the regular route north of Congress.
 

St. Jude Police Memorial March Detours #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express Buses

From 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 2, Museum Campus Drive and Solidarity Drive will be closed to all traffic for the annual St. Jude Police Memorial March.
 
During this time, southbound #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will not be able to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive. Buses instead will operate over the regular route along Columbus, east on McFetridge to the south side of the Field Museum. Northbound #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturday for Cinco de Mayo Parade

Cermak Road will be closed between Ashland and Marshall on Sunday, May 2 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the Cinco de Mayo Parade. Parade participants will begin assembling at Cermak/Damen at 9 a.m. The parade will step off at noon and proceed west on Cermak to Marshall then travel via Marshall, 24th Street to California and disband.
 
Eastbound #21 Cermak buses will operate over the regular route along Cermak to Kedzie then will travel via Kedzie, 26th Street/Blue Island to Cermak and then resume the regular route. Westbound #21 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #49 Western buses will travel over the regular route along Western to 26th Street then will operate via 26th Street, Kedzie, Ogden to Western and then resume the regular route. Southbound #49 buses will operate the reverse route.
 
Northbound #50 Damen buses will operate over the regular route along Damen to Blue Island then will travel via Blue Island, Ashland, 18th Street to Damen and then resume the regular route. Southbound #50 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #94 South California buses will travel over the regular route along California to 26th Street then will operate via 26th Street, Kedzie, Ogden to California and then resume the regular route. Southbound #94 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Boarding Changes for #62 Archer Customers at the Pulaski Orange Line Station

Beginning with the start of service on Monday, May 3, customers at the Pulaski/51st Street Orange Line station will need to board and alight northbound and southbound #62 Archer buses from separate bays.
 
Northbound: customers will continue to board and alight northbound #62 buses from the first bus bay adjacent to the station.
 
Southbound: customers must board and alight southbound #62 buses from the second bus bay from the station.
 

UPDATE: #121 Union/Wacker Express Buses Rerouted for the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Effective at the start of service on Monday, May 3, southbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses will begin traveling on a modified reroute. The reroute currently in place for northbound #121 buses remains unchanged. These reroutes are due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project and will be in effect until Monday, April 2, 2012.
 
(NOTE: details for other bus routes affected by the Congress/Wacker Construction Project are provided below in the “Ongoing Bus Reroutes” section.)
 
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses will continue to operate over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then travel via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and resume the regular route.
 
Effective Monday, May 3: Southbound #121 buses will operate over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then travel via Upper Wacker to Adams and resume the regular route west on Adams.
 

#6 Jackson Park Express and #X28 Stony Island Buses Rerouted Tuesday Morning

From 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, Hyde Park Boulevard between 51st Street and 53rd Street will be closed to all traffic due to a scheduled helicopter lift.
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express and #X28 Stony Island Express buses will operate over their regular routes along Hyde Park to 53rd Street then will travel via 53rd Street to Lake Park and then resume their regular routes north past 51st Street. Southbound #6 and #X28 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Buses Detoured at the Museum of Science & Industry due to an Event

From 7 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, the Museum Drive Terminal at the Museum of Science & Industry will be closed to all traffic due to an event.
 
Customers traveling to and from the museum must board and exit #55 Garfield buses from the west parking lot, which is one block south of 57th Street along Cornell.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Street Reconstruction Work Temporarily Detours #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland Buses

Currently in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, Lombard Avenue between Lake and South Boulevard is closed to all traffic due to street reconstruction work.
 
Southbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland buses are operating over the regular route along Lake to Lombard before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #86 buses are departing from Lake/Lombard and traveling east on Lake to Humphrey then operating via Humphrey to South Boulevard and resuming the regular route west on South Boulevard past Lombard.
 

#53A South Pulaski Bus Stop at Pulaski/83rd Street Temporarily Relocated

Currently in effect until Friday, May 7, the northbound near side stop at Pulaski/83rd Street served by #53A South Pulaski buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Street Resurfacing Project Detours #17 Westchester Buses

Currently in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, May 10, Westchester Boulevard between Roosevelt and Canterbury is closed to all traffic due to a street resurfacing project.
 
Westbound #17 Westchester buses are traveling over the regular route along Westchester to Roosevelt then operating via Roosevelt, Mannheim, Canterbury to Balmoral before turning to begin eastbound service. Eastbound #17 buses are departing from Canterbury/Balmoral and traveling north on Balmoral and then over the regular route.
 

Sewer Construction Work Temporarily Detours #78 Montrose Buses

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, May 14, Montrose Avenue between Paulina and Greenview is closed to all traffic due to a sewer construction project.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses are traveling over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then operating via Damen, Wilson and then resuming the regular route east on Wilson past Clark. Westbound #78 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stop at Halsted/Lake

Until Friday, May 21, the southbound near side stop at Halsted/Lake served by #8 Halsted buses temporarily has been removed from service due to nearby construction.
 

Bridge Closure Temporarily Reroutes Two CTA Bus Routes

The Ewing Street Bridge over the Calumet River at 3331 East 92nd Street is closed to all traffic for bridge repairs until Friday, May 21. As a result, #26 South Shore Drive and #30 South Chicago buses are undergoing a temporary reroute.
 
Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel over the regular route to 91st Street/Mackinaw then will operate via Mackinaw, Harbor, South Chicago, 95th Street to Ewing and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Ewing/95th Street then will operate via 95th Street, South Chicago, Harbor, Mackinaw to 91st Street and then resume the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #93 California/Dodge Bus Stop

Currently in effect until Thursday, May 27, the southbound curb lane of California Avenue at Granville is closed to all traffic due to construction. As a result of this lane closure, the southbound near side stop at California/Granville served by #93 California/Dodge buses temporarily has been relocated approximately 175 feet north.
 

#72 Bus Stop at North/Clybourn Red Line Station Temporarily Relocated Due to Construction

Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 30, the eastbound mid-block stop in front of the station that is served by #72 North Avenue buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop at the intersection of North/Clybourn. The relocation is due to construction at the North/Clybourn Red Line station.
 
In addition, a temporary far side stop at the North Avenue/Halsted intersection has been added. This stop will be served by #72 buses.
 

#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses temporarily have been removed from service due rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
 

#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroute Due to Bridge Repair Work

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work.
 
Southbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
 
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses temporarily has been removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses from either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 State buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster

Currently in effect until further notice, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster temporarily has been removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

UPDATE: Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, several streets in the downtown area have been closed or reconfigured until Monday, April 2, 2012. As a result of these closures and reconfigurations, the following changes in service along three CTA bus routes currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only. As a result, the southbound near side bus stop at Van Buren/Canal served by #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses has been relocated to a far side stop. 
 
#121 Union Wacker Express
Lower Wacker Drive between Harrison and Randolph is closed to all traffic due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project. During this time #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are being detoured to adjacent streets.
 
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Effective Monday, May 3: Southbound #121 buses will operate over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then travel via Upper Wacker to Adams and resume the regular route west on Adams.
 
#124 Navy Pier
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only.
 
Westbound #124 Navy Pier buses are traveling over the regular route along Clinton past Van Buren to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Canal and resuming the regular route north on Canal. Eastbound #124 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
