Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan Next Week

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 and then again during the same hours on Friday, April 10, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Late Night Single Track along the O’Hare Branch of the Blue Line on Thursday

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Harlem and Jefferson Park stations from 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Jefferson Park station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track for Red Line Trains between Grand and Roosevelt

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains operating between the Grand and Roosevelt stations from 11 p.m. Thursday, April 9 until 4 a.m. the following morning due to sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Roosevelt stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Additional Service for Special Events

#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours for Spring Break Service

To accommodate longer spring break hours at the Museum of Science & Industry, buses operating on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry route will have extended service hours beginning Saturday, April 4 through Sunday, April 19.
 

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:
 
  • Friday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. – Nashville Predators versus Blackhawks
  • Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. – New Jersey Nets versus Bulls
  • Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. – New York Knicks versus Bulls
  • Wednesday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. – Columbus Blue Jackets versus Blackhawks
  • Thursday, April 9 at 7 p.m. – Philadelphia 76ers versus Bulls
 
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the event until the starting time of the event. When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour. #19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After the event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Eastbound #47 47th Street Buses Resume Regular Routing

Eastbound #47 47th buses have resumed operating over the regular route following the completion of pavement restoration work along 47th Street between Normal and Shields.
 

Temporary Relocation of #78 Montrose Bus Stop

Due to sewer construction work along Montrose Avenue, the eastbound near side bus stop at Montrose/Damen will be temporarily relocated approximately 150 feet west until Wednesday, May 13.
 

Westbound #55 Garfield Buses Temporarily Rerouted until April 6

Due to construction at 55th Street and St. Louis, westbound #55 Garfield buses operating to the 55th Street/St. Louis terminal will be temporarily rerouted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day through Monday, April 6.
 
Westbound #55 buses that are affected will operate over the regular route along 55th Street past St. Louis to Lawndale then will travel via Lawndale, 54th Place, Millard to 55th for the end of route and start of eastbound service.
 
Westbound and eastbound #55 buses traveling to/from Midway are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stops near the Jefferson Park Terminal

The following bus stops along Milwaukee Avenue, near the Jefferson Park Terminal, will be temporarily relocated until Monday, November 30, due to construction:
 
#56 Milwaukee
The southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Lawrence served by #56 Milwaukee buses will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
#81W West Lawrence
The eastbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Ainslie served by #81W buses will be relocated to a far side stop at Lawrence/Milwaukee.
 
The westbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Lawrence served by #81W buses will be relocated to a far side stop at Lawrence/Milwaukee.
 
#91 Austin
The northbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Ainslie served by #91 buses will be relocated to a far side stop at Lawrence/Milwaukee.
 
The southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Lawrence served by #91 buses will be relocated to a far side stop at Lawrence/Milwaukee.
 

Four Bus Routes Temporarily Detoured from Columbus between Randolph and Wacker

Columbus Drive between Randolph and Wacker will be closed to all buses until 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 8.
 
Northbound #4 Cottage Grove buses will operate over the regular route along Randolph past Columbus to Field Drive for the end of route and start of southbound service. Southbound #4 buses will operate from Field Drive to Randolph then will travel via Randolph to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
 
During a.m./p.m. rush hours only, eastbound #20 Madison buses that operate to the Illinois Center will travel over the regular route along Randolph past Columbus to Field Drive for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #20 buses will travel from Field Drive to Randolph then will operate via Randolph to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express and #123 Illinois Center/Union Express  buses will travel over their regular routes along E. Wacker Place to Michigan then will operate via Michigan, east on Wacker Drive past Columbus to the cul-de-sac for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #122 and #123 buses will travel over their regular routes.
 

Water Main Repairs Temporarily Reroute #6 and #71 Buses on Sunday

South Shore Drive between 75th and 76th streets will be closed to all traffic streets due to water main repair work from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 5.
 
Eastbound #6 Jackson Park Express and #71 71st/South Shore buses will travel over their regular routes along South Shore to 75th Street then will operate via 75th Street, Coles, 76th Street to South Shore and then resume their regular routes. Westbound #6 and #71 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Assyrian American National Federation New Year Parade Reroutes #97 Skokie Buses on Sunday

Oakton Street between Skokie and Crawford will be closed to all traffic on Sunday, April 5 from noon to 5 p.m. for the Assyrian American National Federation New Year Parade.
 
Westbound #97 Skokie buses will operate over the regular route along Oakton, Crawford then will travel via Crawford, Howard, Skokie to Oakton and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #97 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Greek Independence Parade on Sunday Temporarily Reroutes Buses  

On Sunday, April 5 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Halsted Street between Randolph and Van Buren will be closed for the Greek Independence Parade. Participants will assemble on Randolph between Halsted and May. The parade route is south on Halsted to Van Buren.
 
Northbound #8 Halsted buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Jefferson, Fulton then return to Halsted and resume the regular route. Southbound #8 buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted to Fulton then will operate via Fulton, Desplaines, Harrison then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #20 Madison buses will operate over the regular route along Madison to Racine then will travel via Racine, Lake, Desplaines to Washington and then resume the regular route. Westbound #20 buses will operate over the regular route along Madison to Jefferson then will travel via Jefferson, Lake, Racine then return to Madison and resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will travel over the regular route along Harrison past Ashland to Jefferson then will operate via Jefferson to Jackson and then resume the regular route. Westbound #126 buses will travel over the regular route along Clinton past Van Buren to Harrison and then will resume the regular route along Harrison.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

Sewer Repair Work at 67th Street/Woodlawn Reroutes #N5 and #67 Buses

Due to emergency sewer repair work, 67th Street/Woodlawn will be closed to all traffic from 8 a.m. Monday, April 6 through Monday, April 20.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses operating to South Shore will operate over the regular route along 67th Street to Cottage Grove then will travel via Cottage Grove, Marquette, Stony Island to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #67 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses that operate to 67th Street/Stony Island only will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Cottage Grove then will operate via Cottage Grove, Marquette, Cornell, 63rd Street to Stony Island to Marquette for end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #67 buses will operate via Marquette, Cottage Grove to 67th Street and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #N5 South Shore Night buses will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Stony Island then will operate via Stony Island, Marquette, Cottage Grove to 67th and then resume the regular route. Southbound #N5 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ewing Avenue Bridge Closure Temporarily Detours #26 and #30 Buses Next Week

The Ewing Avenue Bridge over the Calumet River will be closed to all traffic from 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 8, due to bridge repair work.
 
Northbound #26 South Shore Express and #30 South Chicago buses will operate over their regular routes along Ewing to 95th Street then will travel via 95th Street, South Chicago, South Harbor to Mackinaw and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Bus Stop Changes along the #24 Wentworth Route Effective Wednesday

Changes to the following bus stops along the #24 Wentworth route will go into effect at the start of service on Wednesday, April 8:
 
Clark/Archer
The northbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
Clark/19th Street
The northbound near side stop will be eliminated. Customers are advised to board at the northbound near side stop at S. Clark/18th Street.
 
1400 S. Clark
The northbound and southbound near side stops will be eliminated. Customers are advised to board at either Clark/Roosevelt or Clark/15th Street.
 
Clark/18th Street
The southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
Clark/19th Street
The southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Water Main Construction Reroutes Buses until May 12

Due to water main construction, 16th Street is closed between California and Washtenaw from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Tuesday, May 12. 
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route to Ogden/California then will operate via Ogden, Washtenaw to 16th and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 
Westbound #38 Ogden/Taylor buses will travel over the regular route to Western/Ogden then will operate via Western, 16th to Washtenaw and then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall

Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale Street and Montrose Avenue.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive

The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
 
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stops at Cottage Grove/57th Street

The northbound far side and southbound near side bus stops near the intersection of Cottage Grove and 57th Street will be temporarily eliminated until further notice due to sewer repair work. These bus stops are served by northbound and southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express buses.
 
During this time, customers are advised to board #2, #4 and #X4 buses either one block north at Cottage Grove and 56th Street, or one block south at Cottage Grove and 58th Street.
 

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Street Closure

Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
