Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Weekend Single Track on Blue Line’s O’Hare Branch

Due to work on the northbound track, a single track will be in effect for Blue Line trains affecting boarding at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations from 10 p.m. Friday, April 24 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 27.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations will board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Track for Blue Line Trains between Rosemont and Cumberland

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Rosemont and Cumberland stations from 8 p.m. Monday, April 27 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Cumberland station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Boarding Changes at the Rosemont Blue Line Station Wednesday Night

From 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains at the Rosemont station.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Rosemont station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, April 28 through Friday, May 1, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track for Red Line Trains between 63rd and Garfield Next Week

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the 63rd and Garfield stations from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, April 27 through Friday morning, May 1, due to track maintenance work.
 
Northbound Red Line customers at the Garfield station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Additional Service for Special Events

#19 United Center Express Service for the Bulls and Blackhawks Playoff Games

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for fans attending the Bulls and/or Blackhawks playoff games at the United Center on the following dates and times: 
 
Boston Celtics versus Chicago Bulls
  • Game 4 – Sunday, April 26 at noon
  • Game 6 (if needed) – Thursday, April 30 at a time to be determined
 
Calgary Flames versus Chicago Blackhawks
  • Game 5 – Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m.
  • Game 7 (if needed) – Wednesday, April 29 at a time to be determined
 
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the game until the starting time of the game. When the game ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour. #19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After the game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Change to #20 Madison and #X20 Washington/Madison Express Bus Stop

Effective immediately, the westbound far side stop at Madison/Lavergne will be relocated to a near side stop. The eastbound far side stop at Madison/Lavergne will remain unchanged.
 

Race to Wrigley 5K Run Detours Five CTA Routes on Saturday

From 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, Addison Street between Racine and Ravenswood; Irving Park Road between Seminary and Ravenswood; and Clark Street between Irving Park and Addison will be closed for the Race to Wrigley 5K run.
 
Northbound #9 Ashland buses will travel over the regular route along Ashland to Lincoln then will operate via Lincoln, Damen, Wilson, Clark to Montrose for the end of route and start of southbound service.
 
Southbound #9 buses will continue south along Clark to Montrose then will travel via Montrose, Damen, Lincoln then return to Ashland and resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #22 Clark buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Montrose then will travel via Montrose, Broadway, Halsted to Clark and then resume the regular route. Northbound #22 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #80 Irving Park and #X80 Irving Park Express buses will travel over their regular routes along Irving Park to Damen then will operate via Damen, Montrose, Broadway then return to Irving Park and resume their regular routes.
 
Westbound #80 and #X80 buses will travel over their regular routes along Irving Park to Sheridan then will operate via Sheridan, Montrose, Damen then return to Irving Park and resume their regular routes.
 
Westbound #152 Addison buses will operate over the regular route along Addison to Lincoln then will travel via Lincoln, Belmont, Sheffield then return to Addison and resume the regular route. Eastbound #152 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Helicopter Lift Temporarily Detours Four Bus Routes on Saturday

On Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Madison Street between Canal and Wacker and Canal Street between Madison and Washington will be closed to all traffic due to a helicopter lift.
 
Westbound #20 Madison and #56 Milwaukee buses will travel over their regular routes along Madison to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, Randolph, Clinton to Madison then resume their regular routes. Eastbound #20 and #56 buses will travel over their regular routes.
 
Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th and #124 Navy Pier buses will operate over their regular routes along Madison to Wacker then will travel via Wacker, Randolph to Clinton then resume their regular routes. Eastbound #60 and #124 buses will operate over their regular routes.
 

Chicago Dia de Los Ninos Parade Reroutes Buses on Saturday

From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, three CTA bus routes will be temporarily detoured for the Chicago Dia de Los Ninos Parade. Parade participants will assemble along Blue Island between 16th and 18th streets. The parade will proceed west on 18th to Damen and disband at Harrison Park.
 
Northbound #9 Ashland buses will travel over the regular route along Ashland to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Racine, 15th Street to Ashland and then resume the regular route. Southbound #9 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will operate over the regular route along 18th Street to Damen then will travel via Damen to Roosevelt continuing east past Halsted and then resume the regular route along Roosevelt. Westbound #18 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island buses will travel over the regular route along Blue Island to Cermak then will operate via Cermak to Racine continuing north on past 14th Street and then resume the regular route along Racine. Westbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

The 2009 March of Dimes, March for Babies Walk Detours 14 Routes on Sunday

On Sunday, April 26 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Balbo will be closed for the 2009 March of Dimes, March for Babies 6 Mile Walk. Participants will assemble on Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo beginning at 6 a.m.
 
The walk will step-off at 9 a.m. and participants will proceed north on Columbus to Monroe then will travel via Monroe, State (northbound lanes only), Wacker, Michigan (along the sidewalks) to the Oak Street pedestrian underpass to the lakefront path and proceed south to Arvey Field and disband.
 
During this time, bus operating along the following routes will be detoured to adjacent streets to maintain service during this event: #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan.  
 

Ravenswood 5K Run Detours Three CTA Bus Routes on Sunday

From 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday, April 26, Wilson Avenue between Hermitage and Leavitt; and Damen Avenue between Giddings and Leland will be closed for the Ravenswood 5K Run.
 
Northbound #50 Damen buses will operate over the regular route along Damen to Montrose then will travel via Montrose, Western, Lawrence then return to Damen and resume the regular route. Southbound #50 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will travel over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then will operate via Damen, Irving Park, Ashland then return to Montrose and resume the regular route. Westbound #78 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express buses will travel over the regular route along Wilson to Clark then will operate via Clark, Lawrence, Ashland to Wilson for the end of route and start of southbound service. Southbound #145 buses will leave from Ashland/Wilson and travel east along Wilson and then resume the regular route.
 

Changes to Bus Stops along #60 Blue Island/26th Route

Effective at the start of service on Monday, April 27 until Friday, July 17, the following changes will be made to bus stop along the #60 Blue Island/26th bus route:
 
  • The eastbound near side stop on Blue Island at Ashland/Cermak will be temporarily removed from service.
  • The westbound near side stop at Ashland/Cermak will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

Changes to CTA Bus Stops Effective Monday

Changes to CTA bus stops along the following bus routes will go into effect on Monday, April 27, at the start of service:
 
#53 Pulaski
The southbound near side stop at Pulaski/Lawrence will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
#86 Narragansett
  • The northbound near side stop at Narragansett/Grand will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • The northbound near side stop at Narragansett/Diversey will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • The southbound far side stop at Narragansett/Berteau will be relocated to a near side stop.
 
#97 Skokie
The westbound near side stop at Oakton/LaCrosse will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

Additional Changes to Bus Stops along the #53 Pulaski Route Effective Tuesday

At the start of service on Tuesday, April 28, the following changes will be made to bus stops along the #53 Pulaski route:
 
  • Pulaski/19th Street: the northbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Pulaski/14th Street: the northbound and southbound near side stops will be relocated to far side stops.
  • Pulaski/Ferdinand: the northbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Pulaski/Huron: the northbound and southbound near side stops will be eliminated.
  • Pulaski/Roosevelt: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Pulaski/16th Street: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

Changes to Bus Stops along the #155 Devon Route Effective Wednesday

The following changes will be made to bus stops along the #155 Devon bus route effective at the start of service on Wednesday, April 29:
 
  • Devon/Sacramento: the eastbound and westbound near side stops will be relocated to far side stops.
  • Devon/Rockwell: the eastbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Devon/Leavitt: the eastbound and westbound near side stops will be relocated to far side stops.
  • Devon/Ridge: the eastbound and westbound near side stops will be relocated to far side stops.
  • Devon/California: the westbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

Changes to CTA Bus Stops Effective Thursday

Effective at the start of service on Thursday, April 30, the following changes will be made to bus stops along their respective routes:
 
#47 47th
The westbound near side stop at 47th Street/Pulaski will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
#53A South Pulaski
  • The northbound near side stop at Pulaski/44th Street will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • The southbound near side stop at Pulaski/41st Street will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
#54B South Cicero
  • The northbound near side stop at Cicero/43rd Street will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • The northbound and southbound mid-block stops located at Cicero/41st Place will be eliminated.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Ewing Avenue Bridge Closure Temporarily Detours #26 and #30 Buses

The Ewing Avenue Bridge over the Calumet River will be closed to all traffic until 3 p.m. Friday, May 8, due to bridge repair work.
 
Northbound #26 South Shore Express and #30 South Chicago buses will operate over their regular routes along Ewing to 95th Street then will travel via 95th Street, South Chicago, South Harbor to Mackinaw and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Water Main Construction Reroutes Buses until May 12

Due to water main construction, 16th Street is closed between California and Washtenaw from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Tuesday, May 12. 
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route to Ogden/California then will operate via Ogden, Washtenaw to 16th and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 
Westbound #38 Ogden/Taylor buses will travel over the regular route to Western/Ogden then will operate via Western, 16th to Washtenaw and then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #78 Montrose Bus Stop

Due to sewer construction work along Montrose Avenue, the eastbound near side bus stop at Montrose/Damen will be temporarily relocated approximately 150 feet west until Wednesday, May 13.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall

Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
 

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Construction

Until Friday, July 17, #60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will be rerouted due to the closure of Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Street and the closure of Loomis Street between Cermak and 18th Street. The street closures are due to construction work at the Benito Juarez School campus.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Loomis/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
 
Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route along Blue Island past Laflin to 21st Street then will operate via 21st Street, Ashland to Cermak/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale Street and Montrose Avenue.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, heading north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive

The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
 
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stops at Cottage Grove/57th Street

The northbound far side and southbound near side bus stops near the intersection of Cottage Grove and 57th Street will be temporarily removed until further notice due to sewer repair work. These bus stops are served by northbound and southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express buses.
 
During this time, customers are advised to board #2, #4 and #X4 buses either one block north at Cottage Grove and 56th Street, or one block south at Cottage Grove and 58th Street.
