Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Weekend Single Track on Blue Line’s O’Hare Branch

Due to work on the northbound track, a single track will be in effect for Blue Line trains affecting boarding at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations from 10 p.m. Friday, April 17 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 20.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations will board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform. 
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Track for Blue Line Trains between Addison and Belmont

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Addison and Belmont stations from 8 p.m. Monday, April 20 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Addison and Belmont stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Tuesday Night - Northbound
From 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound Blue Line trains will undergo a single track between the Belmont and Addison stations.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Belmont and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Blue Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between Cumberland and Rosemont

Northbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Cumberland and Rosemont stations from 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Wednesday night, April 22 and then again during the same hours on Thursday night, April 23.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Cumberland station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, April 21 through Friday, April 24, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Green Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Eastbound Green Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track Next Week

Due to track maintenance, a late night single track will be in effect for eastbound Green Line trains operating between the Austin and Laramie stations from 9 p.m. until the end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.) on Tuesday night, April 21 and then again during the same hours on Wednesday night, April 22.
 
Eastbound Green Line customers at the Central station must board and exit trains from the westbound side of the platform.
 
Eastbound Green Line customers at the Laramie station must board and exit trains from the westbound platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Single Track in Effect between the Austin and Harlem Green Line Stations

Westbound Green Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Austin and Harlem stations from 9 p.m. Thursday, April 23 until the end of service (approximately 1:50 a.m.) while crews continue track maintenance along the Green Line.
 
Westbound Green Line customers at the Austin, Ridgeland and Oak Park stations must board and exit from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track for Red Line Trains between Sox-35th and 47th

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains between the Sox-35th and 47th stations from 11 p.m. Thursday, April 23 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to plumbing repair work.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the Sox-35th station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Additional Service for Special Events

#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours for Spring Break Service

To accommodate longer spring break hours at the Museum of Science & Industry, buses operating on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry route will have extended service hours through Sunday, April 19.
 

#19 United Center Express Service for the Bulls and Blackhawks Playoff Games

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for fans attending the Bulls and/or Blackhawks playoff games at the United Center on the following dates and times: 
 
Calgary Flames versus Chicago Blackhawks
  • Game 2 – Saturday, April 18 at 8 p.m.
  • Game 5 (if needed) – Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m.
  • Game 7 (if needed) – Wednesday, April 29 at a time to be determined
 
Boston Celtics versus Chicago Bulls
  • Game 3 – Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
  • Game 4 – Sunday, April 26 at noon
  • Game 6 (if needed) – Wednesday, April 29 at a time to be determined
 
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the game until the starting time of the game. When the game ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour. #19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After the game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

New Reroute for #60 Blue Island/26th Buses

Effective immediately through Friday, July 17, Laflin Street will be closed between Cermak and 21st Street and Loomis Street will be closed between Cermak and 18th Street due to construction work at the Benito Juarez School campus.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Loomis/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
 
Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route along Blue Island past Laflin to 21st Street then will operate via 21st Street, Ashland to Cermak/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
 

Changes to #20 Madison and #X20 Washington/Madison Express Bus Stops

Effective immediately, the following changes have been made to bus stops served by #20 Madison and #X20 Washington/Madison Express buses:
 
  • Madison/Mason: the eastbound near side stop has been eliminated.
  • Madison/LeClaire: the eastbound near side stop at the T-intersection has been relocated to a far side stop.
  • Madison/Lavergne: the eastbound and westbound near side stops have been relocated to far side stops.
  • Madison/Lamon: the near side stop at the T-intersection has been eliminated.
  • Madison/Kilbourn: the eastbound and westbound near side stops have been relocated to far side stops.
  • Madison/Karlov: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
  • Madison/Keeler: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
  • Madison/Kostner: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
  • Madison/Lockwood: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
  • Madison/Lotus: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
  • Madison/Pine: the westbound near side stop has been eliminated.
 

Bus Stop Relocation along #56 Milwaukee Route

Effective immediately, the northbound far side stop located at Milwaukee/Sacramento will be relocated to a near side stop.
 

Wrigley Start Early Run Temporarily Reroutes Buses Saturday Morning

From 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, Stockton Drive between Diversey and LaSalle; Cannon Drive between Diversey and Fullerton; and Lake Shore Drive West between Diversey and Cannon will be closed for the Wrigley Start Early Run.
 
Eastbound #76 Diversey buses will travel over the regular route along Diversey to Sheridan then will operate via Sheridan, Belmont to Lake Shore Drive West/Oakdale (in front of St. Joseph Hospital) for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #76 buses will travel via Lake Shore Drive West to Diversey and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will operate over the regular route along Sheridan until it turns into Lakeview then will operate via Lakeview, Fullerton, Lincoln Park West, Clark, LaSalle to Inner Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Northbound #151 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Helicopter Lift Detours Two Routes in the Loop Saturday Morning

From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, April 18, Jackson Boulevard will be closed between Canal and Franklin and Wacker Drive will be closed between Van Buren and Adams due to a helicopter lift.
 
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will operate over the regular route along Jackson to Canal then will travel via Canal, Monroe, LaSalle to Jackson and then resume the regular route. Westbound #126 buses will travel over the regular route.
 
Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will travel over the regular route along Adams past Canal to Clinton then will operate via Clinton to Jackson for the end of route and start of northbound service. Northbound #151 buses will travel via Jackson, Canal, Monroe, LaSalle to Jackson and then resume the regular route.
 

Helicopter Lift Temporarily Detours Six Bus Routes Sunday Morning

On Sunday, April 19 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Michigan Avenue will be closed between Erie and Superior and Huron Street will be closed between Rush and St. Clair due to a helicopter lift.
 
Northbound #3 King Drive and #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will travel over their regular routes along Michigan to Ontario then operate via Ontario, State to Chicago and then resume their regular routes.
 
Southbound #3 buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago past Michigan to State then will travel via State, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #10 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Chicago then operate via Chicago, State, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will operate over their regular routes along Michigan to Ontario then will travel via Ontario, State, Chicago to Michigan and then resume their regular routes.
 
Southbound #145, #146, #147 and #151 buses will travel over their regular routes along Michigan to Chicago then will operate via Chicago, State, Ohio to Michigan and then resume their regular routes.
 

10 CTA Bus Routes Detoured in the Loop for Helicopter Lift Sunday Morning

From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, April 19, Monroe Street will be closed between Wabash and Dearborn and State Street will be closed between Adams and Madison due to a helicopter lift.
 
Southbound #6 Jackson Park Express, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will operate over their regular routes along State to Madison then will travel via Madison, Clark, Jackson to State and then resume their regular routes. Northbound #6, #36 and #62 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
 
Southbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over the regular route along Monroe to Clark then will travel via Clark, Jackson to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Northbound #14 buses will operate over the regular route.
 
Southbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #29 State and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will travel over their regular routes along State to Madison then will operate via Madison, Clark, Jackson to State and then resume their regular routes.
 
Northbound #10, #29 and #146 buses will travel over their regular routes along State to Adams then will operate via Adams, Dearborn, Washington to State and then resume their regular routes.
 
Northbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #147 Outer Drive Express buses will operate over their regular routes along State to Adams then will travel via Adams, Dearborn, Washington to State and then resume the regular route. Southbound #145 and #147 buses will travel over their regular routes.
 
Northbound #151 Sheridan buses will travel over the regular route along State to Adams then will operate via Adams, Dearborn to Washington and then resume the regular route.
 

Daytime Closure of Van Buren Street Bridge Detours #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses

The Van Buren Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Monday, April 20 through Thursday, April 23.
 
Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will travel over the regular route along Wells past Van Buren to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Canal to Van Buren and then resume the regular route. Northbound #11 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Bus Stop at Shedd Aquarium Reinstated

The westbound mid-block bus stop on Solidarity Drive at Shedd Aquarium has been reinstated following the completion of construction work along Solidarity Drive. This location is served by #130 Grant Park Treasures and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses.
 

Changes to the #129 West Loop/South Loop Bus Route During Rush Periods

Effective at the start of service on Monday, April 20, #129 West Loop/South Loop buses will undergo route changes affecting northbound service during the morning rush period and southbound service during the evening rush periods.
 
Morning Rush – Northbound Only
Northbound #129 buses will only operate north to Randolph then travel via Randolph to Wacker and continue west on Randolph over the regular route. Southbound #129 buses will operate over the regular route.
 
Evening Rush – Southbound Only
During the evening rush period, southbound #129 buses no longer will travel along Wacker and Monroe. From the Ogilvie Transportation Center, southbound #129 buses will operate via Canal, Washington to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Sewer Repair Work at 67th Street/Woodlawn Reroutes #N5 and #67 Buses

Due to sewer repair work, 67th Street at Woodlawn will be closed to all traffic until Monday, April 20.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses operating to South Shore will operate over the regular route along 67th Street to Cottage Grove then will travel via Cottage Grove, Marquette, Stony Island to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #67 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses that operate to 67th Street/Stony Island only will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Cottage Grove then will operate via Cottage Grove, Marquette, Cornell, 63rd Street to Stony Island to Marquette for end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #67 buses will operate via Marquette, Cottage Grove to 67th Street and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #N5 South Shore Night buses will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Stony Island then will operate via Stony Island, Marquette, Cottage Grove to 67th and then resume the regular route. Southbound #N5 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ewing Avenue Bridge Closure Temporarily Detours #26 and #30 Buses

The Ewing Avenue Bridge over the Calumet River will be closed to all traffic until 3 p.m. Friday, May 8, due to bridge repair work.
 
Northbound #26 South Shore Express and #30 South Chicago buses will operate over their regular routes along Ewing to 95th Street then will travel via 95th Street, South Chicago, South Harbor to Mackinaw and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Water Main Construction Reroutes Buses until May 12

Due to water main construction, 16th Street is closed between California and Washtenaw from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Tuesday, May 12. 
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route to Ogden/California then will operate via Ogden, Washtenaw to 16th and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 
Westbound #38 Ogden/Taylor buses will travel over the regular route to Western/Ogden then will operate via Western, 16th to Washtenaw and then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #78 Montrose Bus Stop

Due to sewer construction work along Montrose Avenue, the eastbound near side bus stop at Montrose/Damen will be temporarily relocated approximately 150 feet west until Wednesday, May 13.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall

Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale Street and Montrose Avenue.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, heading north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive

The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
 
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stops at Cottage Grove/57th Street

The northbound far side and southbound near side bus stops near the intersection of Cottage Grove and 57th Street will be temporarily eliminated until further notice due to sewer repair work. These bus stops are served by northbound and southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express buses.
 
During this time, customers are advised to board #2, #4 and #X4 buses either one block north at Cottage Grove and 56th Street, or one block south at Cottage Grove and 58th Street.
